As an Orioles fan, we have been blessed to watch many great characters come through Baltimore on this team. Crush is still my favorite, as you know! ❤ Nice work, Cam. His charitable contributions are a much better legacy, but man was he fun to watch at one time!
As someone who also struggles with ADHD, I feel his pain. It's so much more than just forgetting things easily. I could list everything we struggle with, but I'd be here all night doing that. The one thing we are able to do is hyper focus on something. When we can do that, we can literally accomplish whatever we set our minds to (just look at Davis crushing any pitch for an example). The downfall is we can't control how long we can focus on something, so we aren't consistent with it. Great video!
It’s so frustrating. When the hyper focus is going on you feel like you have a super power and you can do anything. Then one day, you wake up and the cool project you were working on or whatever thing you found super cool a week or so ago or maybe even a few months just gets forgotten and interest is completely lost. It just feels like these giant life ruining momentum shifts ebb back n forth out of your control. It’s fucking miserable. I feel ya man I feel ya

@mertonhirsch4734 absolutely. For someone with ADHD, Adderall levels the playing field. Without ADHD, it's essentially the same drug as in the film Limitless. It should be considered a PED if you don't need it. As with any drug, it does come with a risk of side effects such as insomnia and the jitters. But that can happen to anyone, even if you do have ADHD
@@darktalk912 Thanks, but regarding off-label use, doesn't it desensitize you pretty quickly so that you have to up your dose, and also it seems it could raise stress hormones like cortisol and even block natural growth hormone and testosterone. I knew athletes who used Ephedra when it was legal. They could work for hours, but the next day it didn't work as well and eventually they either had to take massive doses or take several days off to resensitize. Also, despite being able to train a ton, then tended to lose muscle presumably from the catabolic stress hormone release. I mean, maybe there is a sweet spot where you can get just the right effect timed just right. I've also had ADHD sufferers tell me that if you don't have ADHD and you take it it can hurt your focus rather than improve it.
Thank you for making this, seriously. I’m a lifelong Orioles fan Davis is a heluva guy and very genuine. Just unfortunate that he couldn’t put those last few seasons together. But he’s set for life now! He deserves it. Now do Brady Anderson.
I said in the last video that Garett Anderson would be a good player to look at as he was very underrated and is usually mentioned in passing when talking about the Anaheim Angels WS winning team. Edwin Encarnacion would be a great player to look at too as his peak started at 29 and ended when he was 36 which is crazy.
As a guy that struggles with ADHD, I know exactly what Chris went through. The key here, remember the good times we had with Chris, not the bad. Thanks Cam!
It’s been almost exactly 10 years since I saw Crush mash two bombs at Camden Yards against the Yankees. Man, what a fun night! Ok, now for my video suggestion. Could you consider doing one on Jim Eisenreich? He’s not as well known as the All-Stars of his era, but the dude could flat-out hit, and he overcame his battle with Tourette’s Syndrome that initially ended his career in the mid 80s. At an age when most players were retired, he averaged an .833 OPS during his four seasons with the Phillies. He’s a worthy player to profile, not just for his accomplishments on the field, but the adversity he overcame off of it. Thanks for videos! ⚾️
this was a very positive video (even talking about the hard times he went thru) getting the letter from the red sox fan gave him the confidence he needed at that moment that kid with the W move. He was someone I grew up watching so you’re absolutely right! He has a great story for being seen in such a negative light for his baseball performance, felt it was only right to paint the full picture
I'm from about 40 minutes away from the stadium and was born in Baltimore(at Sinai if anyone local is curious.) As a lifelong fan who drifts in and out of paying attention to the orioles, it really makes me sad that people will remember Davis for his historic run of astronomically bad luck. He is an extremely nice guy as far as I can tell, very charitable and was not really a typical "top of the world" type that made you feel vindicated in watching him experience the lows as well. I will have good memories of him for a long time, and hope he continues to be a fixture in charities wherever he lives. As a very Christian man he hopefully will strive to exemplify those values since he has all the means to fulfill them.
I'm also really happy that Foolish Baseball made an analysis of just how incredibly and mind bendingly absurd that bad luck was. I have a better chance of finding a vein of gold in my backyard than someone does of having that streak.

Davis deserved way better on the field, especially when he looked so great in his early years in Baltimore. He’s a very special human being, and I still support him.
dude it's kind of mind blowing a lot of other ball players don't do the contract deferral thing. I mean Bobby Bonilla just got that million dollar check like SIX DAYS AGO. it's 2023!
Financial professionals will advise you against it, though usually its got selfish motivation behind it. It is the smart move for security, yes. You can blow 15 fortunes in a row and still have another one coming next year, which for people who have as little impulse control and money sense as pro-athletes seems like a great idea. But money that sits stable is losing value, since inflation increases steadily. Taking that money upfront and putting it all into bonds or CD's means the money grows while still being untouchable, which is the same difference really. Two players take the same deal. Player A takes that million upfront in 2020 and puts it into a CD until 2035. Player B defers the money. Their contracts and possible financial security are the same, being able to not access money until 2035 either way when it pays out. But it will be worth almost 200k more (@1.25% interest compounding yearly, for example) for player A. That number may be a bit high but the example stands. Taxes heavily complicate this but the principle stands. I would take the deferral thing but understand why not to do it.
