Pretty good analysis on both likes and dislikes! I currently own my first '16 R1200RS and like it a lot. I love the water-cooled boxer engine for it's simplicity, reliability, smoothness, and torque). I do like the lack of symmetry of the engine (and sometimes headlights) - I find it unique and nice, but do understand it is very subjective. I totally agree with you that the indicator light housings could be better, if not flushed. The rear black plastic stub with the screw - not good! I upgraded the inner pieces with LED lights from an American company, Cyclops and they are fantastic. I bought headlights as well and I feel much safer to ride to be seen and also to see. In any case, really enjoyed your video!!!
Thanks for the feedback, I did consider having the headlight as one of the negatives as I don’t think the bike is very visible during the day….though most of the negatives are quite minor, it’s a great bike overall.
Interesting video - the 5 pluses i agree with, from the 5 negatives the screen is the only one that really matters the others are nitpicks that don't bother me...and oddly enough at 6ft the std screen doesn't give me any issues on my RS..it seems to annoy taller or short riders...subjective I guess. Out of the 8 or so BMs i have owned over the years this one is the best all round package ...just progressive development showing i guess. It is smooth, powerful when needed, quiet and fast ...and has the best gearbox so far....but my 1200R seems to have a better gearbox...it is silent into 1st gear, the RS only sometimes is. Probably oil type and weight perhaps ?
I do mostly agree with what you say, it’s one of the hardest bikes I reviewed to find negatives about and it is to an extent nitpicking, none would stop me buying the bike.
Did not have issues with connected app with R18 or XR. Maybe you need an update. Regarding boxer engines, it bothers me that both sides are not symmetrical from the top view
The bike is due a software upgrade at the next service, so hopefully you are right. Never noticed aboute the cylinder heads….going to do my best not to look now!
@@whojamaflip1 I was hit by a car on my 2016 BMW R 1200 RS LAST OCTOBER ! First MC accident in my 58 years of riding. I miss that bike , But am riding again after 5 months and 2 operations on my left wrist and arm. I also have 1982 BMW R 100 RS and my BMW K 100 RS , I will buy a newer 1250 SOON!

Cannot agree more! It fits me for many reasons, but primarily for lighter weight. I am old (60) and couldn't deal with my ST1300s anymore.
