Huh, I don't think I've heard this style before (that I can recall identifying as such at least) but I really like it. There's something pure about its relative simplicity. And as always, adding your sincere singing voice elevates it.
Thank you, Jason! It is a really enjoyable style. Sometimes it almost feels like acappella in the same way that clawhammer can feel close to playing with a full band.
Thanks, Kenney!! I didn't realize until earlier this week that there's a few videos on RUclips of him actually playing. I've been loving studying some of the banjo greats!
@@StanleyWaltsBanjoOh nice! What a treat. I remember the first time stumbling across those. I was looking for Doc Watson tunes. He was the first old time banjo player I really dug into. His playing and singing changed the way I looked at the banjo. The weird tunings, the ballads. It’s also very blues inspired! Definitely one of my favorites!
@@KenneyCmusic if you search up "dock boggs pretty polly (1966)" you'll find a video with that same title of Boggs himself. I also found a 1966 video (probably from the same day) of Country Blues (which even has a colorized version). 😁
Absolutely wonderful, I look forward to hearing more!
Thank you, Mads! 😁

Cool.. I've been starting to investigate some two finger style playing..
There's definitely a little bit of a learning curve, but some good practice (like clawhammer) it starts becoming really fun and intuitive! :)
Killed it! Nice bruv. Im a big Dock Boggs fan too.

Man, seeing you two in contact (two of my favorite banjoists around here) makes me hope for some kind of collab happening between you two sometime.
