This is amazing, you can make different named 'keys' open the same door using the other hopper spaces
you could do multiple keycard filters with a line of hoppers above so if it doesn't fit on one it goes to the next, etc.
Thank you for this i did a change where I flip the droppers upsidedown and put a hopper under them into a chest so the key could never be recovered but when at that chest, used it to connect to to a command block if people buy a ticket and throw it (say into a dragon's mouth) it will unlock something for them (in game currency btw)

I just used this to build a mini shop for my server! Instead of a door, I placed a dispenser facing the front filled with an item of value. We can throw whatever currency we decide an item costs into the hopper, and that front-facing dispenser will give us the item we "bought." And instead of the two dispensers facing up, I faced the top one towards the back so it will not return the currency item to us and instead will eject the payment (into the void...).
why wouldn’t u eject the payment into a chest or something
@@user-dw1fr Because we don’t want to retrieve the payment item afterwards. There’s no reason to collect the payments since we will not be reusing them. Once we toss the payment item into the machine, that’s it.
On bedrock the keycard doesnt pop out on the dispenser that is on top it only pops out below. Just destroy the dispenser on top
so you have to jump down then back up to get it?

@@seriously4076 the instructions call for 8 “keycards” but that didn’t work. But if you use 9 “keycards” the door lock worked as intended.
If this doesn't work for you, try filling the droppers and the bottom hopper with copies of your keycard in max stacks. idk why this makes it work but it just does ig. by the way i think they removed the weird little mechanic with droppers where it moves materials between them if a dropper is triggered, so just delete the top dropper and you should be fine.
actually you dont need to remove the top dropper??? it works anyway for some reason???

@@polyhedronman9975 Sadly it is outdated now, Ive copied it 1 for one and and the only thing that works is the keycard, the door doesn't open
@@destreader13._.2 i figured a way for it to work, remove the bottom dropper and hopper and direct the top hopper into the top dropper, then fill the dropper with 9 stacks of your keycard and do the same with the top hopper as shown in the video

Guys if the dropper not giving the keycard back is because you need a keycard in the bottom dropper
It doesn't work for me, when I put the snowballs in the hopper it goes to the dropper for some reason :(
Sorry, I have to agree with the others that this does not work on Java. (I don't know about Bedrock). The paper shoots out just fine, but the door does not open. Using my own knowledge of redstone, I played with the redstone for a while, finally getting the door to open.

@@JAstro-tp9phBeen a few months since I did it, so I don't remember all the details. I do remember I had to change up how the redstone connected by using a "NOT gate". There are video tutorials about "NOT gates" which once were the main way we used to turn off and on sections of redstone back in the day. There are new ways to do things now, but I went old school when fixing this issue.

When i fill the hopper and drop keycard it gives very small power to comperator
For some reason when i put the filter balls into the first hopper they go to the bottom dispenser even tho my hopper is fasing away from the bottoom hopper and both of the dispensers.PLS HELP!!!

it works but sometimes the item drops in between the other blocks and i cant get the card back
@iMineCrazy when i built it a first time it worked just fine, but when i build it a second time for some reason the keycard doesn't pop out of the dispenser, it pops out onto the first comparator that you place, any thoughts on how to fix this? im on java 1.19.2

I just did this with a 3x3 door. Keycard reader from here>Flip flop switch setup> 3x3 door trigger. Its pretty cool
my door won’t close when i build this, it opens but the door stays open and doesn’t close back up also the bottom dropped is spitting out the paper rather than the top dropper

Place a red stone torch underneath the bottom hopper on the block hard powered by the repeater

The key didnt pop back up, so you have to get it manually. Is this just because im on bedrock or did i do something wrong?
Edit: It only pops back up if i already have a key in the dropper.

this wasn't working for me, it worked before i placed blacks around it and added carpet but now when i throw the keycard in by pressing Q on pc, it doesnt spit it out and the door doesn't open. thoughts?

Yes it is, you would need to build two keycard systems and tie them into an AND gate, then the AND gate will open the door when both keycards are accepted.

No it doesn’t, but it has to stack to 16, so empty buckets, eggs, signs, honey bottles, banners, written books, Ender pearls, and armor stands all work
