I bought this for my home toolbox based off your review, because I hate taking things back/forth from work/home. This is exactly what I need for automotive use on my family’s vehicles I get roped into fixing 😂. & obviously goes way beyond fixing vehicles- Nice review.
Nice to see MEANINGFUL useful upgrades taking center stage instead of often weak NCV or transistor testers etc - Klein improved this one in the main fundamental areas of mm function, though for the price I kind of expect to see 4,000 count instead of 2,000 in this day and age, but ok for the DIYer and light user and the build quality is still surprisingly good in this price range especially in the areas of fuse quality & access and input protection devices. Even though the back light is a couple minutes or so, thats still better than some of the frustrating fifteen second ones ive seen, simple on/off at user discretion is still preferred even if it does shorten battery life a bit.
Agreed Mike. This is a very logical upgrade from the MM320. Does the necessary without any frivolous add ons. Audible diode mode would've been sweet. Still for the little $ you're getting very well built Klein Tools dmm with excellent input protection. 👍
Nice meter for the DIYer and hobbyist. I have the MM600 that has been my second meter at work for over a year now, and it is still doing great. What is nice is that they included some of the same quality in this lower priced meter.
I like the newer intros, taking a moment to show the whole device before going into the fancy intro really helps. Leveling up that production game! Keep on testing!
I came here to see how fast the audible continuity was, and learned a few things in the process. I’m gonna pick up a couple of these. Thanks for putting this review together!
I actually bought one of these at Home Depot yesterday, C$42, liking it. Another cheap-o meter in my collection! - was the diode and continuity voltage on the MM320 higher? - on the MM325 it is 2.2V - so it won't report on blue or white LEDs, although after watching the video completely, you do mention that.
Thanks Darren, based on your helpful review, I purchased the MM325 this morning. I originally purchased a kit that included the MM320 plus 2 other items a couple of day ago. Since the package was not opened, I returned it. Next time I will watch your review first. 😀
The price is not a lot for the properly beefed-up input circuitry and a nice loud beeper. Big question sir: On diode test, does it short beep for both regular PN diode junctions (0.5 to 0.7v) and schottky (0.15 to 0.4v) junctions??
@@KeepOnTesting Well FV drop is good.. I just wish someone made an affordable DMM with good input circuitry that identifies PN junctions audibly like most Flukes can. (not so sure about the 101 but It can't do current)
Heh, just bought this on Amazon today $34 USD as you stated. It's my first multimeter, just getting into electronics as a hobby at age sixty. Came just to get a review of its basic functionality, very helpful, thanks.
Great review, as always.....thanks, Darren. I have to say i have not been impressed with Klein multimeters before but this one definitely is the real deal and worth every penny. Thanks again, mate.
Cheers my friend! Yes I think Klein will sell a ton of these. Almost under priced (wait, did I really say that..) considering the build quality and performance. The real deal as you said! 😃
Good review, looks like a good solid DMM for an electrician out in the field. There was an isolation slot between the 10A and and 600mA fuses, as the uA and mA ranges are off the voltage input.
Big LCD digits, textured dial with bright indicator, easy to read face, loud beeper, and good input protection. After lubing the wheel, this would be the perfect meter for your great grandpa.👴
Great grandpa ! 😅 well I think mine would've needed a bigger screen. Hehe..Klein is definitely a step up from the avg CHEAP-O in terms of build quality 👌
Reviews (sample) seem quite positive and there's enough negativity out there... If it's too cheap why not get a Fluke or a SnapOn? I think the cutouts are adequate to allow battery spring clearance; as good as it gets!
Excellent review! Klein Tools has really stepped up their game in the release of test equipment in the last few years. I really wanted to like this meter with the input protection and fuse access it offers. I could overlook the 2000 count and battery compartment solution if it had autoranging and true rms. The factory dry switch wouldn't be as big a deal with autoranging, (less switch positions) less guessing at switch position and come on it's 2023, who uses an average responding meter now?
Thx and great points Eric, I agree with your outlook 100% Definitely a downer in the TRMS dept..even the MM600 lacks that feature for some strange reason. Still a worthy dmm at this price point and definitely built to last.Hopefully the next Klein upgrade will address this! 😉
@@KeepOnTesting It is a good price. Klein Tools does offer the mm420, which looks to be the same size, but it has autoranging, true rms, and a 4000 count. I don't know the build quality on it and it runs for about $55 USD.

Great review as always, Darren! I didn't mention it before, but your new LED rig is great. Makes the LED testing portion much smoother. 👍
Thx my friend! Indeed those Klein meters are built incredibly well especially when you consider the price point. I neglected to mention the thickness of the pcb. It's thicker than most so it will give better performance when things get hot. The new diode test was gifted by a very savvy viewer (Radiogeek). It's made a huge difference!
@@KeepOnTesting As a novice bass guitar player, I'd say thicker is always better. 👍
But in all seriousness, it looks like you have to really put effort to do any damage to Klein meters. With how affordable and durable they are, they would probably be great for students - they would last for years.

Cool review ! I bought the AstroAI and Kaiweets multimeters off Amazon to test my guitar speaker cabinet input… I have a 1/4 mono speaker cable connected into a 16ohm input on the speaker cabinet. I connected one lead to the Tip and the other to the sleeve … the readings just bounce all over the place… tried different speaker cables and same thing. I tried both auto range and manual settings for the resistance. I should be getting a reading close to 16ohms… is it just these cheap multimeters ? I also notice on the resistance setting if I just touch the leads the readings bounce all over the place ??? Shouldn’t it read 0 ? I ordered this Klein MM325 and will see if it can get an accurate reading. Maybe it’s just me ???
The Klein should do well! The resistance on the test leads depends on how good the leads are actually made. Most CHEAP-O Multimeters have less than stellar test leads unfortunately. So always a good idea to grab a good set when testing is critical. Btw, when in Resistance mode, if you're not checking anything it should read zero.
