Congratulations, G! 👍 I did something similar to that, a few years ago. Hunting down a replacement for my first Barlow knife. That then led me down another rabbit hole. To go on and replace some of the Pacific Cutlery (pre -Benchmade) knives I had years ago.
Ideal was big in Massachusetts when I was a kid in the early 60's. They were sold at the drugstore and hardware stores. I think they were about 2 bucks.
Killed many many many rabbits, grouse, quail, doves and squirrels. We was very poor when I was a little girl and my small game hunting helped to feed us! I was hell on wheels with some Crosman premier .22 pellets in the square tin.. if you was a rabbit and 50 yards or less you was supper. I still have the 392 and had Baker Airguns rebuild it for me mid 2020 and it shoots so amazing still! I really wish I had that old Trapper but it got lost many many years ago somewhere in the woods.
Awesome video made me chuckle bc I could see myself doing the same thing, my first knife was one of the original USA made Oldtimers, which I lost only after having for two days. I do keep buying the Gray and Green bugout though something about the first good knife that I ever bought that stays with me
I have the exact same knife as a kid in the early 80s, mine was a v grind also. I'm pretty sure mine was bought in 81 or 82 from the brand names catalog/ store.
Wow, yeah, I haven't these knives in years. My dad always carried the camper brand knives. I always thought it was called camperking. But when I saw this video I'm like yup just camper.
Hey G. Big fan of the podcast brother. Hey I just spent the last 45 minutes looking for a specific video and can't find it. When you guys were talking about youre Maxamet Native that tested 69 (I think it was) and Steve said you were beating it through a brass rod with a ball peen hammer. I can't find that video. Also, what did the hardness on your Para 3 come out to? I've got one coming in a couple days. I'd really appreciate it if you could point me in the direction of that video(s). Thanks brother, and thanks for all your awesome work.
That was BJ that did that with his Maxamet Manix 2. It may be on one of Tom's older videos. When I get a chance I'll test my Para 3 and see what the hardness is..
@@Outpost_76 Sweet man, hell yea that'd be awesome. I'm curious to see what it comes out too. And alright cool I'll see if I can find it on Tom's channel. I appreciate it man.
Congratulations, G!

You're welcome

Carring multi bladed slipjoints is sooo much fun. It's all u really need!!!
Had a Cherokee stockman that was so soft youd need all three blades to do what one 8cr budget knife could cut.
The fun I had as a little girl with my Benjiman 392 and my little schrade trapper!
