Also resetting your town often is crucial because when houseboats are in random places, the games lags more than if they're in their ports. Thank you so much, this video is a bit old now but it worked for me. I got tired of the repetitive gameplay that the Sims 4 has to offer, and wanted to reinstall the Sims 3 but realised it was running worse on my new PC compared to my old and now broken laptop. These fixes solved that for me!
This video is absolutely fantastic! Thank you! I played sims 3 for like forever! After a few years I wanted to play it again and my partner just got me all of the packs for it. I loved this game but I just realized that, with a newer computer, the game is no longer playable... The game freezes for several seconds and the lags were unbearable. I thought that I have to let it go and that I can never play it again. I literally cried. Just before everything went down I found this video and I wanted to say "thank you" from the bottom of my heart and from my partner too. He likes it when I have something I really enjoy and that he can have some time for himself without thinking that I maybe have nothing to do. This video is super well done! Step by step, very detailed. I just had one quick question. Are you require to change the Graphic Cards if your Device Config says: Found: 0, Match: 1 ? I don't really recall having a warning sign for unrecognized video, my game runs smoothly, well except with CC and mods 😏. And just wanted to know if it's an issue if I just end up not modifying that file

Hey, if anyone is having the issue of knowing their card should be rated a five but it is being rated lower, all you have to do is follow the steps acottonsock explained for the uber level cards, and do everything exactly the same for your card even though it is not a five. Once you follow all the steps and relaunch your game, your card should now be rated a 5. Hope this helps!
Thank you for your video. I haven't played Sims 4 for about 18 months because I felt it was a big step back from Sims 3. I was going to reinstall Sims 3 again but after watching your video I changed my mind. I am an old man and I don't have the patience to do all that just play a game, I think id is an elderly thing. Thanks again for your time and effort.
In the pinned comment I left a link of an automated version of this process. It will automatically match your graphics card for you so you don’t have to do any of the notepad editing. 😊
Thanks for your guide! I used to avoid using Bridgeport (even though I love it to death) due to the routing issues but I had no idea a fixed version exists. I just recreated my real family and I am going to give it another go with all these fixes applied. Here's hoping everything works okay 🤞

I LOVE YOU OMG. MY GAME RUN SOO MUCH SMOOTHER AFTER THIS. ESPECIALLY AFTER RESET THE WHOLE TOWN. GONNA HELP MY SISTER TOMORROW I MEAN TODAY ITS 4AM LOL. THANK YOUUU
So I have a 'AMD Radeon(TM) Vega 3 Graphics' I don't think I'm wrong on this, because I used the add on support thing that's in the pinned comment that automatically does this first half for you, but I don't think mine was in their data(?) So, because the way this is titled and structured is really different than the perspective we get in the video I offer support: The second part of the graphics card section confused me at first. I didn't realize, that 'AMD' was the abbreviation and the number after it like how it's explained in the video will actually vary on how many digits it has. At first I didn't think there was one because I was stuck on the amount of digits and question marks... Answer is: This one has one digit; you only need one digit (and no question marks)... Just put 3. I also was afraid to delete lines of text in there, but don't worry. Changing the size of my display to match theirs in the video also helped to compare the two and see what was similar and different between AMD and NVIDEA more easily. Then my trouble came and I launched and it still had both parts at 0... BUT turns out I needed to get PASSED the launcher. Make sure to press play. THEN Deviceconfig will update and you can check it and I had two beautiful 1's :)) Conversely to a lot of people the VRAM went fine because the add on support thingy was at least able to do that much for me hehe THANK YOU for this video, I hope this helps someone?
wow, thanks a bunch. My GC wasn't recognized and I had absolute murder lag in the tombs. Following your instructions, it now loads way faster and runs like a dream :))
Very very useful and well explained, thank you. Right now I'm on a Lenovo laptop with an integrated gpu but today they're pretty powerful so balancing it for the game the way you suggested helps me a lot. Not to mention all the other optimizations.
For anyone trying this now and getting permission errors trying to save the new files for graphics card fix go to your programs in the control panel and repair all your visual C+ took me a while to trouble shoot the issue but worked with that and allowing the permissions in properties. Hope that helps anyone as aggravated as I just was.
Hey guys! For everyone who has an AMD Radeon R7 Graphics Card and is confused with the graphics rules part, here is what I typed in graphics rules (be aware to put it into the right section as mentioned in the video!): "*Radeon R7*"))
Thank you for sharing this amazing tutorial! I haven't had trouble with Sims 3 running terribly on my current PC but the better performance definitely helped. If you don't mind answering, how did you get an animated wallpaper on your desktop? It's absolutely stunning!
For AMD people: open the control panel. Go to gaming. Click the sims 3. Turn on Radeon chill, this option is usually automatically disabled. Adjust your min and max fps and it will save automatically.
You are the GOAT. Just finished doing everything and oh...my gosh. Runs smooth like butter!! and my DCBackup....I HAD 5GB SITTING THERE. You just got yourself a new subscriber, found you through the lazyduchess smoothness video.
Given that the default settings didn't show any instances of "Ti", I'm guessing that the asterisks are sufficient. I'm running a 1070 Ti, and the DeviceConfig.log was properly updated, without me adding the Ti to my card name.
This is a great video. I’d love to give this a shot. The Sims 3 is one of my favorite games and it’s been so nuts trying to play it years ago. I never considered that because it’s an old game, it wouldn’t work well with newer tech.
What abbreviation would I use for AMD Radeon(TM) for 15:10? There aren't any numbers in my graphics card. The full name of it is AMD Radeon(TM) Graphics.
@@Myeolxmang I actually ended up figuring it out, the abbreviation you use is "AMD" and since there isn't any numbers, you don't put anything there. Just put everything she did after she found her numbers!

Recommend using WinRAR, as 7zip has an issue of reading the file as having a data error instead of realizing that it needs the next volume. It may be that I'm using an older version, but I don't know..
Thank you so much for this! I'm a little confused though at the 18:30 . I have 3GB VRAM for my graphics card. But I don't know how you got the number because half of 8000 is 4000 but you put 4096 so I'm a little confused on what my seti textureMemory should be ha-ha! Thank you!
So I put 4096 instead of 4000 because you're supposed to increase anything ram related by increments of 256mb (I failed to mention it in the video, but that's why)! I'd recommend for you to just do 1024 (which comes out to 1GB - roughly). Sims 3 is old so it really won't even require that much. Even utilizing 1024mb is better than the "32" number that was there before!
@@acottonsock thank you so much! I haven’t played the Sims 3 in legit 5 years ... but I’m bored of Sims 4 (miss generations) so trying it out! So this is super helpful bc I remember that lag 😂

Also resetting your town often is crucial because when houseboats are in random places, the games lags more than if they're in their ports.
It's so dumb but literally delete the Scott family and you're good to go. Also limit stray cats, dogs, and set horses and deers to 0. They will still appear in game (for me at least) but waayy less often
Somebody made a rerouted version of like all the base worlds too, including ip I'm pretty sure. I can try and find it real quick
omg that's in this video I'm so freakin stupid
@@chicka-boom7540 nah it's good fam we've all dropped comments be4 watching the whole video😂
If anyone is getting the message where you can't save the sgr file from the graphic recognition part, all you have to do is go where the bin file is located, right-click on the bin file, click properties, security, and then and then give permissions to all users to edit the file. I had this issue but it was fixed when I did this. I hope this helps!
ah! you're an angel, i've been messing with settings all week to get optimal performance & this helped a lot. thank you so much!
Of course! 💕
I feel myself like a coder hacking the system hahaha. But thank you, your explanation was super understandable and thorough, really helpful!!!
Glad it was helpful!
SO easy to follow! It's a small thing, but the way you use the cursor to point out what you are showing us rather than flinging it around the screen really helped lol. Thank you so much for this!
My biggest issue was that I didnt notice you adding an additional " or match("${cardName}", " thankfully, I saw your YT comment and was quickly able to detect the issue. This video is so helpful. Thank you.
I'm glad I could help! 💗
Thank you so much! I didn't even realize Sims 3 didn't recognize my gfx card. I haven't had a stable and lag free game since 2009. I combined this with the lazydutchess smoothpatch, and it makes easy breezy covergirl lag
You're welcome!!
I'm Brazilian, these changes made all the difference in my game, now I can play without any kind of lag. THANK YOU VERY MUCH
the fact that you already had this done and you took an hour to explain tells a lot about your person, thank you so much!! 💚💚
omg give me a break, i just watched all your past videos, and SPENT 2 days adjusting now you came up with a new video !!! HAHA good job!
THE EDITING GIRL!!!! this vid is so good
Thank you!! I worked super hard on it! 😭
girl tysm omfg the graphics card part took me only a trillion years but I finally got it matched😭🥺ty for helping me rediscover the sims 3 entirely!
Clicked on this video cause I've been wanting to get back into the sims 3 and we have the same desktop wallpaper, kinda trippy but cool lol
Didn't know I needed this! Thanks so much for being so patient and thorough!
That's the best 'fix the Sims 3 tutorial'!
I'm definitely coming back to the game this week after watching your video 😍
Yay! Thank you!
i used this awhile ago but i realized i never commented on it. this tutorial is the reason im able to play sims 3 at all right now. without this tutorial i would never know how to get my graphics card recognized. now i can play the game with max graphics settings and get a steady 60 fps. thank you so much
i want to say a BIG thank you for your tutorials. They are SO helpful ! thank you for taking the time to help us sims newbies :) 💚 much appreciated
You're very welcome!
Girl ur a genius. My boyfriend (he knows more about pcs than i do) fixed my game with the help of your video. Thank you for the upload, i will be forever grateful.
15:10 i have an amd radeon(TX) vega 8 graphics and you said that i have to put the first 2 digits but i only have one number (8)
Were you ever able to figure it out? I have AMD Radeon (TM) Graphics and I’m also lost on the graphicsrules part
just came here to thank you!! i did everything recommended on the video and now my the sims is even more fun to play!!! now my CAS is smooth af srsly i used to spend like hours creating a sim because of how much horrible to download my stuff it used to be, the gameplay is so much more pleasurable like i can actually move the camera freely without fear. you are the best fr you won a new subscriber 💗💗🥰🥰
this is the most useful video on this whole site! thank you so much for making the tutorial. with this i managed to get both the sims 3 and the sims medieval to recognise my graphics card!
Great to hear!
yo, this girl needs some more recognition!!
💕💕
This was so NEEDED !!!! i have immaculate specs and the sims 3 was running like it was the day after thanksgiving XD PLEASE!!!
I’m so loving you atm. Looks and runs so much better. Basically my card was barely being used and looked up everywhere thinking story progression was my problem
omg what how is that lis wallpaper moving ?! that’s so cool
Wallpaper Engine!
Best 3 or 4 € you can spend! Trust me. It's on Steam.
Thank you!
Would you ever consider making a video on best-practice TS3 CC (folder organizing, using packages instead of sims3packs, avoiding conflicting cc, finding bad cc etc, polycounts)? Your videos are so well explained and thorough I think that would be so invaluable. :)
Oooh! This is a super good idea!! I’ll write it down, thank you! ✍️
@@acottonsock Awesome! :D
It’s better if it’s not sims3packs ?

Thank you for showing me where this option is! I think I briefly saw it when I reinstalled the game and had to reconfigure my settings, but for some reason didn't uncheck it. And then I couldn't find it again when I wanted to turn it off. So thank you for showing me where it is!
you are an actual angel, thank you so much for making this video
Thanks for this! I realize it's 2 years old but was following it because yeah, game doesn't recognize my Graphics Card. Got to 18:00 "VRam stands for Virtual Ram" not quite, it stands for Video Ram as in dedicated Ram on your Video card. Then I came to the comments and saw the patcher program and got a chance to skip the first 20 minutes YAY!
Thank you for this! It’s amazing to see how much work you do! And it shows, your videos are always great quality!!!
You are so welcome!
I started playing the sims 3 15 years ago in 2009 and i decided to replay it, however it was very unstable on my modern hardware. I looked for a fix and found this! it reduced my lag greatly and i am installing mods! Thanks
YOU ARE A LITERAL QUEEN FOR THIS VIDEO, thank you so much omg 😩💜
All I knew about was Nraas (and Lazy Duchess' Smooth Patch) bc I haven't played this game since 2021 and I had no clue about the fixed worlds! Definitely installing those now, will be helpful on my new saves :)
Thanks so much for making these in-depth and easy-to-follow videos about fixes and mods for Sims 2 and 3 as I love those games and they're a pain to run on modern Windows computers and laptops w/ out crashes and lag
THANK YOU SO MUCH! ive tried to do other tutorials and twitter threads advices but i dont know anything about computers so i was messing it up :( now ive already fixed my game and its perfect! thank u so much ily
it worked! i had graphic issues and now everything is fine! THANK YOU, BETTER THAN EA SUPPORT SERVICE.
I actually play with a chipset laptop that's 3 or 4 years old. I have extra RAM, use NRAAS. I like CC. Yes, big worlds are a challenge. Thank you for your effort putting this all together.
Thank you very much for saving my favorite game and future tears that would go into my game 💕🥺
Hey I got the same message. How are the graphics of your game? Mine is extremely pixelated.
You need BOTH Found and Match to be equal to 1, otherwise your GPU isn't recognised.
you're an ANGEL for this. back on my sims 3 obsession and this was necessary.
Wow. Thank you so much for the video. I haven't really tested my game after applying your tips, yet. But I still wanted to thank you for the work you put into this video.
thank you for saving my game even 3 years later. my (currently) 10-generation human-vampire family challenge survives.
Your tutorial videos are a godsend, and this one is no different. Thank you so much for sharing!!! 😁🙏🏾 I have a 5 YO pc and have done A TON to make my game work well and there were still a few things that I didn’t know about that you shared so, I really appreciate it. 😊
Of course!! 💕
The clearest explanation of how to edit those sgr files. The ONLY clear one, really. My card is found and matched! Thank you!!!!!
You're welcome!
My game is running so much better thx!
did you do everything in the video? i want to but it’s a long process
This tutorial is sooo good. I used it on my own computer, my boyfriend's and my best friend's one. Everybody had different graphic cards etc. but it always worked. Thank you so much for this. 🙏🏼
@@acottonsock Thank you for your help. I just turned my computer on, and I will give that a try.
Thanks for your guide! I used to avoid using Bridgeport (even though I love it to death) due to the routing issues but I had no idea a fixed version exists. I just recreated my real family and I am going to give it another go with all these fixes applied. Here's hoping everything works okay 🤞
I caved and downloaded sims 3 again. this is a lifesaver! good work 😊
Glad I could help!
Thank you so so much for this!! I love the Sims 3 and have been playing it since I was little. Thank you so so much!! Finally my game can run and not crash after 10 minutes of gameplay haha :D
You are so welcome!
I thought there was no fixing my game, but your graphic card fix did it! Thank you so much, Idk what I would have done without this hahaha
Glad I could help!
Amazing video, thank you so much!! I've been playing since 2009 and I never knew any of this 😭😭😂 so worth watching the whole thing
Glad it helped!
I LOVE YOU OMG. MY GAME RUN SOO MUCH SMOOTHER AFTER THIS. ESPECIALLY AFTER RESET THE WHOLE TOWN. GONNA HELP MY SISTER TOMORROW I MEAN TODAY ITS 4AM LOL. THANK YOUUU
So I have a 'AMD Radeon(TM) Vega 3 Graphics' I don't think I'm wrong on this, because I used the add on support thing that's in the pinned comment that automatically does this first half for you, but I don't think mine was in their data(?)
So, because the way this is titled and structured is really different than the perspective we get in the video I offer support:
The second part of the graphics card section confused me at first.
THEN Deviceconfig will update and you can check it and I had two beautiful 1's :))
Conversely to a lot of people the VRAM went fine because the add on support thingy was at least able to do that much for me hehe
THANK YOU for this video, I hope this helps someone?
THANK YOU yes this helped me a whole bunch ! i appreciate it a lot !
wow, thanks a bunch.
You're welcome!
Hi, I have a question I also have a Lenovo laptop and my graphics are R4 graphics, so in the part where you put the “??” How did you do it?
For anyone trying this now and getting permission errors trying to save the new files for graphics card fix go to your programs in the control panel and repair all your visual C+ took me a while to trouble shoot the issue but worked with that and allowing the permissions in properties. Hope that helps anyone as aggravated as I just was.
Hey guys!
For everyone who has an AMD Radeon R7 Graphics Card and is confused with the graphics rules part, here is what I typed in graphics rules (be aware to put it into the right section as mentioned in the video!):
"*Radeon R7*"))
Thank you so much, this really helped.
hii what if I have Radeon(TM) R4 graphics what should I put?
Thanks.
Ty!
@@abrilaquino421 Ik This Is A Bit Late But Type Radeon(TM) R4
Thank you for sharing this amazing tutorial! I haven't had trouble with Sims 3 running terribly on my current PC but the better performance definitely helped. If you don't mind answering, how did you get an animated wallpaper on your desktop? It's absolutely stunning!
It's from Wallpaper Engine!
For AMD people: open the control panel. Go to gaming. Click the sims 3. Turn on Radeon chill, this option is usually automatically disabled. Adjust your min and max fps and it will save automatically.
Also make sure enhanced sync is disable and vertical refresh is always on
For a minute I thought you meant the Windows control panel. It's labeled AMD Radeon Software on my computer.
Thanks for sharing!
You are the GOAT. Just finished doing everything and oh...my gosh. Runs smooth like butter!! and my DCBackup....I HAD 5GB SITTING THERE. You just got yourself a new subscriber, found you through the lazyduchess smoothness video.
Great to hear!
Thank you sm for this tutorial! Im at work rn currently lol but I am def getting on this when I get home tn 💕
15:44 Does it matter if we have a Ti? Do we put "Ti" after the ??
Same and I can't find anything 😭😭
@@Myeolxmang I actually ended up figuring it out, the abbreviation you use is "AMD" and since there isn't any numbers, you don't put anything there. Just put everything she did after she found her numbers!
As always thank you for your super helpful game guides. You literally SAVED my game. I can't thank you enough. ❤
Thank you so much!!!
Thank you so so much! You explained everything in easiest way possible!!!! THIS VIDEO HELPED ME SOOO MUCH, I LOVE YOU YOU'RE A LIFE SAVER!!! YOU'RE AN ANGEL!!!
Recommend using WinRAR, as 7zip has an issue of reading the file as having a data error instead of realizing that it needs the next volume.
It may be that I'm using an older version, but I don't know..
This is the second time I've used this tutorial (the first was in 2021), and I appreciate it so much. Thanks for making this.
If I have 6gb what number should I put for the graphics recognition?
I love your PC's wallpaper. Life is strange before the storm, such a great and underrated game. One of my favourites.
Yes!!
I'm not sure if everything has changed since windows 11 came out but almost none of these instructions worked for me
For people who have sims on steam (like me) and cannot find your game, you can click the sims 3 in library, go to settings, click properties, click local files then browse. I dont know if anyone had the same issue with Sims 3 not being on their desktop like mine and having it on steam but I hope this helps.
Hi there, what if, after matching the graphics card to the game, it still says "Found: 1, Matched: 0"?
