the only disadvantage that i can see is that the con that does the motion control is near the stock of the gun, so to move the "gun" you have to pivot in way that dosent really work for "firearms" if there was a way to switch them around this might be an objectively great way to play the game
Maybe you could change buttons and the slots the joy-cons goes into
Wouldn't inverting the motion controls get it a bit closer to how it works? I might be under estimating how much you would intuitively move the entire thing as opposed to just the handle, though

I wonder if a set of Dualies for joycons could work? With the right shape it could feel pretty natural to handle and aim.

i actually use the joycon gun and its so fun and easy to turn the camera quickly. hurts my arm a bit tho to hold it for long periods of time because its longer than the one used here. its better for shooter weapons and also it helps for me to use it while standing

For the separated controllers I lay on my bed and play on my tv with my joy cons on my sides and I feel it helps my movement

Fun fact but a similar concept to this accessory exists for a Bass Pro Shop hunting game.
Of which is just a port of a Wii game. As well as the fishing one.
Also fun fact, there the only video games sold exclusively at Bass Pro Shop. Good luck finding them at GameStop or Best Buy.

I unironically play with detached joy-cons, it’s nicer having the freedom to do whatever with my hands instead of one controller my hands get more easily tired on for me

It was cool to see one of my switch friends on your team on the sword and gun round. I played an anarchy open battle against you before and daughter you. (Sorry, you probably don't remember anyway) I just thought it was so cool that I was able to splat you.
Believe it or not you could call me insane but I literally ALWAYS use the joycon gun now. I mean once you use it so much it feels weird to play anyother way. At this point I use it for non shooter games😭 and it actually made me way better at the game😊 (I still suck though) any ways thats the end of my comment and today's message is ALWAYS BOOYAH BACK
Edit: oh ya and to add on that's not how you hold it 😭 your supposed to hold it 6-7 inches away from your chest and rest your elbow on your leg. Not hold it like an actual gun/snipper
