20 years ago the guy next door was a marine engineer and was earning 350k per year FIFO, 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off. So these wages seem low to me lol

A little late to the party but as I work in one of those sectors I would say this is a gross understatement on the wages.

These are after tax estimates she said, and probably starting salaries, she may work in recruitment which is new jobs!

Makes me laugh. I recently retired, and due to my superannuation scheme, I am receiving a pension that is almost twice what I was earning while working. And I was working law enforcement in a hazardous environment. I'm pretty sure politicians are way overpaid, with all the additional perks they receive.

Mining wages can be on par with doctors. It's hard work though and usually you're out in Woop Woop. City jobs that pay well are in tech and finance. CEOs earn a lot more in Australia. I personally know some that earn north of 400k.

Speaking of careers, have you ever considered working in radio? You have a pretty good speaking voice, so it might be worth thinking about. Just my two bob's worth.

Just asked some friends some of their wage expectations in their work history -
    $26 per hour pharmacy retail
$39 per hour 1st year saw mill labour
$70k for a pretty basic automotive spraypainters
    $24 , 1st year plumbers apprentice

I believe these are more Eastern states stats. I know that in WA FIFO jobs are more high paid jobs than most industries. You can get a FIFO job for a 1o1f week with no experience and your salary would be a ruf 140k pa so 7k per month.

I've been a civil engineering project manager, project engineer and most often a contracts estimator or contract administrator. I don't have a university degree and I'm usually paid between $150K to $180K AUD.

Teachers start salary is $70,000 up to 120,000 for specialty education. My husband used to work at mines in Roxby Downs. Worked 4 weeks on and two weeks off, fly in fly out, paid, $4000 wk for the whole six wk rotation. Damn good money.

With footballers and sports people in general, their careers can be over with the next injury and mid 30s if lucky. Also, the top players are more of a business entity themselves where they are the product and reap the rewards of media and product endorsements.

I work in the health industry and earn between $40-$50,000 a year before tax. I clean and sterilise medical equipment that surgeons need to use in their surgeries. Yet our job is extremely undervalued and often overlooked. And pathologists earn only a little bit more than that. This list is waaaaay off.

I'd say it's the average of all the smaller companies and start ups bringing the average down for CEO's.
I did the payroll for a massive company, and the top men were earning wayyyyy more than that. They were given a lot of shares too, which are worth a fair bit.

  • @k.vn.k

All those numbers are after tax, means the actual salary is much higher. I am engineer and mine is 150k a year before tax or around 120k after tax.

The CEO salary isn't correct, I know professional jobs that earn more than this and I work for a non for profit. Remuneration is my line of work and the average CEO salary is about $280K a year (Jan 2024 data) and I still think this is pretty low.

It's not just about the money, do they get the time and opportunity to have a life. I think in Aus they generally do with a work hard play hard ethos.

Alot of CEO's earn into the millions
Solicitors and barristers earn heaps more and so do surgeons,
    Crane drivers ,
Tradies ECT earn alot of money here ,

These earning totals are after paying tax. anyone in Aus who earns less than $1000 per week is a very low wage and would not be the norm.

  • @Bellas1717

These are based on averages, I believe, because some individual sports people do earn more than the top quoted for a surgeon.

Senior (regional) site electrical engineer here in Aus. I have an Engineering manager in Melbourne150 klms away, the figures are accurate, but happy to earn 7k less in my pocket as house prices are much cheaper here, I don't have to deal with traffic (6 mins ride to work on my ebike) and only one hour monthly meetings with business senior management.

These figures are incorrect. Not sure where she is getting her numbers from. I've watched a couple of hers and she is off in all of them. I work in the legal profession and the number she gave is grossly under. There are partners who make more then $1M and the number she gave is equivalent to 6-7 years PQE. As for the judiciary, counsel, senior counsel - you are talking big numbers. Be interested to read what people in other professions say.

I'm not sure where this woman gets her information from. But it's way off the mark. Unless she made this in 2005. Which obviously she didn't. I work with animals and earn $85 an hour. And I'm not a vet.

If you want to live in any of the big city in Australia $100.000 a year, you are only treading water, the only way I got ahead l was a contractor and worked 12hour night shift 7 nights a week for 4 years, only had 10 night off a year, paying $150 per hour plus 10% GST = $1800 + $180 = $1980 per shift X 355 day i will let you work that out, it was a job that no one else wanted to do hens the high hourly rate.

This woman’s stats are definitely off. I personally know of people in several of the fields that she mentioned, and those people earn more than double what she said is the upper level. I have seen several of her videos before and every single video had things wrong, which is why I stopped watching her channel. Cheers.
