- I have about a dozen different corset relacing tutorials on my channel, but some folks struggle with spacial awareness and I've been hearing that some tailors will charge like $20 for the 10 minute job to relace someone's corset, and I was like "well that won't do."
Here is a deceptively simple technique to relace your corset:
Step 1: Staple your new lacing to your old lacing.

The microphone in my camcorder gave out during the filming of this, so I had to voice over this video afterwards - this is the reason why my hand gestures are slightly off-timing from what I’m saying. But one of my patrons said it’s inadvertently ASMR, so enjoy haha

Sometimes the simplest solution is the best solution, haha! It seems almost crude, but it is really the fastest way.
in lieu of aglets, visit the hardware store and buy small diameter shrink tubing. Just slide over end of lace and heat with a lighter and voila!

I consider it a compliment! My sister and I have the same “phone voice”. When she was working at a pizza place taking phone orders, she had three different customers tell her that she should become a therapist because her voice was so soothing. 😆

Anyway, I'm amazed at how creative this method is, dang ! Good trick for people who are *absolutely not like me* which means having a weird pleasure when relacing a corset from scracth... Y-Yeaaah...

This is actually really simple and clever! For me I tend to find that I only relace corsets if I'm wanting to change the lacing method, but I do eventually want to replace the ribbon laces on my Gemini with something nicer (I just hate ribbon laces) so since I'm already happy with how that one's laced I'll use this trick then because it does look quicker! Just need to decide what to get. I know what I want - I want to be able to get laces which are holographic to match the corset, but as that isn't possible... I might just dye some cotton laces very light grey.
Ooh do you have the opalescent Gemini? Holographic lacing sounds amazing, but the only thing I’ve seen even close to that is the scratchy tinsel-wrapped cord shoelace which is neither comfortable nor have I seen it sold in long enough lengths for corset use. I have seen rainbow ribbon (but of course that’s not useful if you’re trying to get away from the ribbon). Your solution is probably the easiest. :)

Great technique! I was wondering where you buy replacement laces. Mine broke and I tried replacing them with paracord and it does not work at all! NO slide in the laces, so very hard to tighten.
Lucy there are sew on aglets you can get, they're primarily used by like, historical costumers, but you can get them on like etsy, maybe ali express? They look like little triangles and sort of bugel chip esque
Yes I have a couple of tutorials on tipping laces, including shrink tips, metal and filigree anglets! I don’t blame anyone for not remembering these tutorials though because they’re probably a good 7-8 years old
Hey Lucy. Unrelated question, but do you think you could try and get a conical version of the TT Hourglass that you helped design made? My frame is far from ideal for a Libra, and nowhere near curvy enough for a Gemini...

Absolutely! As long as the corset was already laced that way to begin with, you will retain the same lacing method when you’re finished. 😊
