That was helpful. Thanks! Next year I will need to transfer drinking water from a tank in the back of the truck to an RV. Probably 50 gallons or less at a shot, so about ten minutes or so pumping time. Glad to see that the pump is hybrid so that I can either use a battery, or, start up the RV's gen and use AC power.
My well ran dry and this perfect for watering plants, trees, filling washer machine from 2- 275gal totes I have in the back of a trailer. A nature boy shower at the end of the day is a great way to end a long hot day.
That could come in fairly handy at our Lake Property. Need to fill a 275 gallon IBC container up the hill from the lake. No one likes carrying 5 gallon buckets up the hill. It would be a lot of hose & a decent amount of up hill though. Thanks for Sharing.
I like it! Great review/introduction to this battery operated pump. Never seen them before. There are so many cool lithium battery powered items out there now...crazy cool!
There is a ton of cool stuff. I wish the batteries were standardized so you could mix and match tools. In truth the battery packs between the brands are the same except for the plugs. I know you have DeWalt stuff (which is a good brand) and they have lots of good tools, but I have decided I am not going to get into another battery platform. That is how they lure you in is with lots of different tools. I am privy to stuff that is coming out and all the big boys have cool 18v tools coming this year.
@@FernbarkFrist NOT enough pressure or lift. Stick with an 12 volt higher pressure RV pump. Not only better BUT way cheaper. A much, MUCH cheaper way to do this is a Harbor Freight immersible sump pump and a 12 volt rechargable battery (OR cigarette light plug to use with a jump starter). I paid 20 bux for my pump. It does over 1000 gallons per hour. Very quiet. BUT for all it's volume, it did NOT have enough pressure and lift to activate a 1.6 gpm instant hot water heater.
I am going to add one of these to My pool service business right now We have to suck up the last 4 or 5" of water out of a pool with a wet dry shop vac then push the shop vac up to shallow end and lift it out of pool and then push it some more to a draining spot then go back for more water We don't fill it to full cap cause it gets too heavy to lift to above waist high to get it out of pool at 5 GPM this would be quicker and save a lot of grunting
Nice review. It would have been nice if they put a gasket around the edge of that battery cover though. I'm sure they could have worked out a way to get the cord through it too.
A gasket would be nice. The cover does snap on pretty tightly. I doubt splashing would get inside the compartment unless it comes in through the bottom, but I think we all know the pump is going to get wet eventually.
The only problem would be it doesn't have a pressure switch, so you have to turn the pump on and off for each use. I am not sure what would happen to the pump if it was running without water flowing through it, such as if you were doing dishes and were turning the sink on and off and leaving the pump running.
It's LOUD guys. Just remember this. I might have to mess with various batteries to see it it can lower the noise floor a bit. I'm running 9AH battery I might try the 3 AH. Almost burnt up my Ryobi cordless with a 9AH. Careful which battery you use on various tools.
It is loud, but different Ah batteries don't provide different voltage or amperage to the tool, they only last longer. All of them are 18v and the tool will pull whatever amperage it pulls, no more.
Thanks, great explanation - hose storage ROFL I thought it was for storing the bottle of mineral oil 😁The battery cover is a good idea to keep most if not all of the liquids off the battery did you try putting the hose in very hot water? The 1200lt an hour is strange as it says run time is 45 minutes?
What is the suction head. For example if I lower an intake hose down into a 20 foot deep concrete vault, will it suck up the 20 feet and discharge at the 20 foot level?
It is the height the pump can pull water up to the pump. If you have a 5 foot head, you can lower the intake 5 feet and still get water to the pump. Lower, and the pump might not be able to pull it. How far it can push the water up after discharging from the pump is another number not related to suction head.
@@FernbarkFrist Yes, understood. I think Tom was actually asking what IS the value the suction head ? Is it 5 ft, 10 ft, 20 ft ? And, what is the maximum delivery height ? You seemed to have the hose head about 10ft above pump height or thereabouts at a guess ... were you able to pump to higher points ? You can find like an Einhell 4180330 GC-GP 8042 ECO Garden Pump (EU or USA) for about 100 bucks. It has a suction height (head) of 26 feet and a delivery height of 140 feet. What do you think ?
Please let me know your thoughts on this. I want to use this pump for pumping termiticide into termX or Termstop replenishment reticulation system. Ryobi pump's user manual says the Max Head is 14 metres so I would assume the operating pressure to be 14 metres x 1.42 = 19.88 psi. The termstop reticulation manual says if the reticulation system is buried in sandy soil at a depth of 6 inches the operating pressure is to be apprx 20 psi and if buried in loam soil max 60 psi. Please let me know if I can used this pump for the above mentioned purpose. I want to use this for loam soil conditions. Thanks

any chance you hooked up a pressure gauge to the end of your hose to see what it put out? I am going to do a DIY sprinkler system and want to collect rain water and use the pump to run the system but was wondering it would would put out enough PSI to make the sprinkler heads pop-up. ??????
While the Ryobi Pump is amazing. I would advise you to go buy a gas-powered pump for such an application. There are even extension hoses so you can transfer water over greater distances.
Just bought a similar one to this today to drain our swim spa + water the gardens. The one I got only runs off the battery though. The AC adaptor would have been neat!
Question: I have my boat on a trailer in a storage facility that doesnt allow you to use their power. I actually have a full rain water catcher and my plan was to use one of these transfer pumps to 1. flush my engine with freshwater and 2. wash my boat. Does it provide enough water pressure? It's hard to tell. I have ryobi batteries so this is much cheaper solution for me than the milwaukee one.
You could definitely flush your engine. It might provide enough pressure to wash (but not vigorously) but the problem would be it does not have a pressure switch, so you would have to turn the pump off at the pump to stop the motor. So if you wanted to spray, then soap, you would have to stop the pump...soap...turn the pump back on to rinse. If you used a 1/2 inch hose, the pressure might not be too bad. The good thing about the Milwaukee pump is that it is self priming. The Ryobi is not.
There isn't a pressure switch, so if you hook it up to a nozzle and release the trigger, the pump will still run and probably burn out the impeller. Most likely it will over heat and turn itself off.
lt Looks like a nice off grid pump or RV. pump for your tanks. Bummer for me my 2 small 18+ battery's that came with the hammer drill are almost useless less than a year the big boys are performing great.
What's the lift on this thing? Like if I wanted to get water from a stream 10' down a hill and 60' away to fill my RV, would that work? Thanks, if anyone knows.
The noise of this pump was the biggest disappointment with this product. I purchased it to drain our hot tub when we have to clean it out (among other tasks) and the noise it so oppressive that I just ended up using a gravity syphon instead.
It is. Harbor freight has one tht I just listened to as my neighbor was using one on his rv. Just a low hum. Granted it isn't cordless but it is MUCH quieter. Waiting for mine to break.

Great video man. Do you think this would work for boondock camping?
Yes, except it does not have a pressure switch, so everytime you needed water you have to go to the pump to turn it on

Can this pump transfer water 50 meters - from small river to my nearby garden?
It depends entirely on if it has to pump it up any time of slope. I would guess probably not.
What about pumping out a hot water heater can I handle the hot water?
You would have to contact Ryobi to get an accurate answer, I am not sure if it will damage the impeller or not.
will it work on a thicker liquid like gel for example?
No, just water.
Will it work to move fuel
The manual states only water.
Great Video.
