When you're that good you always get a pass and no one cares
yeh the dude wrote some of the most iconic riffs in the history of music, he can get a pass for flubbing a 30 year old song in stride. he also did the solos for blackened and rtl’s title track and i think he could have just retired after them at any time he wanted and i would be like “yeah, ig after making those artistic pillars of popular music, u have every right to just take it easy.” also, he is just a fucking nice and down to earth dude who likes horror movies and, though others may think differently about this than me, is much more willing to be vocal about current events than lars (who seems to hold similar ideas to kirk but is less vocal) and james (who purposefully stays “apolitical” but his leanings sometimes reveal themselves).

I have so much more respect for Kirk than I do for the typical technical shredder types, because he shows that you don’t have to be a complete virtuoso to be successful on the guitar. You just have to have passion for the instrument and the music.
Absolutely ! .. completely humble and has never been arrogant .. &with all due respect, there is a handful of his solos that aren’t the easiest.., I still can’t play the sweeping leper Messiah solo bit on the 22nd fret clean like Kirk. perfect cat for the band.lov’em

I remember a video from ten years ago where James accidentally started playing the Fade To Black rythym while the rest of the band was playing One. He made fun of it afterwards as well. Some of these songs are probably so "automatic" for them to play at this point, it's easy to have a brain fart once in a while lol. Kirk's reaction here is entertaining as hell.

It’s because Fade to Black and One use the same chords. Same with Welcome Home Sanatarium. All the same just arranged differently.

My favorite player. I love that he can just accept when things go wrong. Some players would storm off stage. This is one reason why they are so great. They accept that not everything is the best but the big picture is always great.

I absolutely LOVE when artists don't take things so seriously during live performances. Mistakes can and will happen, but the audience is paying to see YOU. Not to hear everything exactly as the record, and if they are those weirdos, then they can shut up and enjoy the show.
