Oh GOSH. I just heard this SONG this evening. Took me back All those years ago. Tears 2 my eyes for all the ones I have loved and Lost. Andy Williams thank you. Beautiful.
Hard to believe this was recorded in 1965. I was only 19 but the beauty and depth of feeling in this song has never left me. Songs of those days had meaning. I absolutely loved Elizabeth and Richard. Always hoped they'd make it as a couple. They were so beautiful! I am so glad I still remember it so clearly.......
Gorgeous story, scenery, actors and music! Beautifully romantic! The country was definitely simpler then! Less populated, cleaner, and much simpler-- no electronic devices and instant news. Classic cars were beautifully designed! The country is now a hectic argumentative Tower of Bable with different philosophies contradicting one another and loss of freedom and liberty. Can you imagine someone just building a "luxury shack" in Big Sur now? Back then women dressed beautifully- not cheap. People also had MANNERS and didn't wear pajamas to the grocery store. The era of great music ended in the late 70's with classic rock. As far as the envious argument of "privilege" many of these actors came to the US with nothing but talent and ambition.
Loved this movie. I'm glad that I had the opportunity to take my mom on a tour of the California coast. The bus ride on the Big Sur was awesome yet a bit frightening. That is where this movie was filmed. Took the bus 3 hours to complete the trip. There were no barriers along the 2 way road to prevent cars or buses from falling down cliff. This was in the early 80s. I read that the song was written for this movie. RIP mom.

His voice is the “gold standard” of male vocalists in the 60’s through today. Thanks mom for the musical memories! Love you!! 🥰
Thank for “The Shadow of Your Smile”, Andy Williams’ sweet full voice and the stills from “The Sandpiper”. There is wisdom in that movie. In the scene with Elizabeth Taylor in the white jumpsuit, she is longing to know married love. And knows she won’t have it with him.
Andy Williams ("Moon River") had a beautiful voice. So did his 3 older brothers, I saw them in a video singing and they were ALL talented and!their quartet was amazing! This song, "The shadow of your smile" won best song in 1966 -- Natalie Wood announced it, Bob Hope was the emcee. Sadly, they're all gone now, wonderful people, great song, good times long ago.
The 50's, 60's, 70's was a 'great era' of music, be it pop, rock, folk, ballads, jazz, movie themes...all of it! I feel so blessed to have experienced that time (and music) during my growing up years- grade school, HS, college days, young adulthood. Special, beyond words. 'The Shadow Of Your Smile' is certainly one of those songs that remains ever-fresh in one's heart.
I miss Andy Williams & his classic style. What a beautiful movie. Yep, this takes me back to a time when life was wonderful & enjoyable. Precious memories are wonderful.

The years I lived in Monterey were magical. So many women who were so beautiful in their own, individually way. This song brings it back to me in ways strange but delightful. I will not return there again. My life has changed and the magic can not be repeated. But I have the memories and Big Sur is not so far away.

Liz a beauty?! She's short, obese, with cellulite buttocks and dysfunction of the thyroid. If in the streets I wouldn't notice that she exists. But I'm from another generation.
This beautiful song reminds me of my baby brother RAFAEL (TOTO), who had down syndrome & passed away at age 55 . This was one of his favorite songs which he used to sing while I was on the piano or guitar..I never got over his passing, I HOPE WHEN MY TIME COMES I GET TO BE WITH HIM. Maybe by then my depression goes away. I LOVE YOU, TOTO & I'LL SEE YOU THEN ALONG WITH MA & PA.🙏🙏🙏
Adette, if you don't know Him, ask the Lord Jesus into your life and you will see a major change, an uplifting, a joy, a purpose in life. Then stay with Him all your life and when your time comes, through Him you will see your beloved family again. Jesus, our Saviour, is all you need to see your life change. God bless you my sister. 🙏
The real singers of the 20's through 50's are now ready to be reborn. I doubt they will reach the standard of excellence of the original group, but the opportunity is there for the taking! Those that feel they can, should go for it!
I have listened to this romantic song since 1960's and am still listening to it now in 2020. I enjoy deeply the melody and lyric and miss Richard Burton and the lovely Elizabeth Taylor forever!
Una bellísima voz como la de Andy Williams, toda la hermosura de Liz Taylor con su pareja Richard Burton y una playa espectacular... ¡qué más se puede pedir!
When Liz looks into Richards eyes..... all you see is love. Such magic. Melts my heart every single time. They don't make people like that anymore or singers like Andy Williams
I wrote a short story titled "The Shadow of Your Smile," which was later collected in the anthology Prism. The story recalls a time in Corfu when we "borrowed" a small fishing boat and headed into the Aegean Sea. My fellow pirate serenaded a lass with that song as I rowed toward the rising moon. It was quite a night.
The original power couple , sadly they couldn’t live with other or be happy without each other. But they sure made their mark on this boring old world , their candles shown bright for as long as they could and boy didn’t they light up our lives.
Andy Williams was always one of my favorites. We just don't have the talent today like there was back in his day. Maybe part of it is the kind of music that they sing today, just noise with a beat, not truly sensual, soothing music like this. Andy came from a musical family, he was first known for singing with his brothers! Then he went out on his own, to bring us some beautiful music. I really miss all the musical talent of his era, some of the best ever.....sigh!
One of the most beautiful songs ever, about one of the most beautiful women in the world. And the film, shot at one of the most beautiful places on this planet, Big Sur. We miss all of them who gave us so much pleasure and are gone now, the great singer Andy, Lovely Elizabeth, the fascinating great Welch actor, Richard, and many more of that era who are gone now. So many of them that I admired growing up, sometimes I feel like I'm the only person left from that time, although I know I'm not, but most of those greats of the mid 20th Century, that I was in awe over, are resting in peace somewhere now, gone but not forgotten..
Its too easy to forget what a nice voice Andy Williams had. Smooth and creamy. He was from a time of velvet voiced crooners who will likely not be seen again.

How true!
Beautiful song! I love these older romantic songs of yesteryear!♥️♥️♥️
August 2024 and I just heard my mother’s lovely voice singing this beautiful song, so here I am. It happens to be the 14th anniversary of her passing. I miss her so much. My best friend. ❤
Oh GOSH. I just heard this SONG this evening. Took me back All those years ago. Tears 2 my eyes for all the ones I have loved and Lost. Andy Williams thank you. Beautiful.
I concur.
Yes Andy Williams & Elizabeth Taylor just beautiful you couldn't ask for anything better. Two of the best stars .Thankyou for sharing. ♥️❤♥️❤
I feel all the same way. Thanks for sharing.
RIP mom.
The shadow of your smile
When you are gone
Will color all my dreams
And light the dawn
Look into my eyes
My love and see
All the lovely things
You are to me
Our wistful little star
Was far too high
A teardrop kissed your lips
And so did I
Now when I remember spring
All the joy that love can bring
I will be remembering
The shadow of your smile
Now when I remember spring
All the joy that love can bring
I will be remembering
The shadow of your smile
À mon tant aimé papa, qui adorait cette chanson.
Amour éternel et infini à toi.
About 50 years ago I would hear my grandmother play his records. What memories. *sigh*
jack002tuber I was listening to his records when I was in love. Now we’ve been married 50 years and still love Andy Williams!
How did we lose such beauty? Where have such wonderful people and music gone? Who took this from us??
Também me pergunto isto.
Beautiful song , and beautiful Elizabeth.

Ojalá y pudieran subir la película. Es hermosa
I can still remember her smile, her laugh, the sound of her voice, and everything about her, all the way back to 1964. I still love her, with all of my heart, even though we could never get together as husband and wife. Very tender memories.
❤
@@Daria-bx1fy Thank you very much. Your smile is greatly appreciated.
Sad to hear your love story.Good luck and all the best.
@@clarencefernando3968 It is amazing how she stays in my mind; she doesn't go away, and I don't want her to go away. I keep in touch with her sister, who told me when my love died of cancer. She said, in an email to me, "Your story is like a fairy tale that could have ended with the glass slipper fitting!" Oh! How I wish that could have happened. True love never goes away. The desired result may never come to fruition, but that true love stays in our mind forever (especially if it is our first love).
@@blogex3445 your love story reminds me of Matt Monro's song " I will wait for you" . Listen to it, you'll find your whole life in Matt's song. My friendly advice to you, unknown buddy : it is time you finally find a real, tender woman to care about you. And to love you. Wake up from your slumber. Greetings from France.
In my 50’s now, I’m starting to enjoy crooners like Andy Williams, Matt Monro, Frank Sinatra, etc. Maybe I’m getting older but I always did enjoy classic movies.
The same has happened to me. All those singers you mentioned were uncool and old peoples music when i was young. Now I appreciate their vocal talents for what they are - brilliant singers and consequently, beautiful songs.
How nudes
U it
They created beautiful music for centuries.Good luck and all the best.
I loved his voice. He had a way of wooing his audience. It's too bad he went so soon. Thank goodness for his records. We will never forget him.
The color of your eyes, the smile on your face. Nobody can come close to those ever. Thank you for sharing those incredible moments.
Saw Andy's concert w Henry Mancini in Tulsa 1962ish n again at Branson 20+ yrs ago sans Henry...also saw Frank live in Kansas City '74... since then everything else has simply been dessert... yes I'm old school but learned very well...
I was a child when I was introduced to Nat. I cried when he died & my first introduction to cancer. His voice was so soothing, his smile & talent made me appreciate melody.
С первых звуков комок в горле. Воспоминания. Прекрасная музыка, прекрасный голос, прекрасные артисты и то, что прошло навсегда, но никогда не уйдет из памяти...

Your correct. Times change, but human desires for love and connections to other people never will...
My mom loved Andy Williams’ singing. She belonged to the Columbia record club and had most of his albums. I grew up listening to him from one side of the album through the other. His voice is the “gold standard” of male vocalists in the 60’s through today. Thanks mom for the musical memories! Love you!! 🥰
Andy takes me back to my childhood and I get a gut feeling I wish I was there NOW!
Some of us live our whole lives and never know it…
Andy Williams ("Moon River") had a beautiful voice.
Andy Williams...Hard to find a better voice.
..such a 1960s song and sound..I miss those years...my teenage years...
Until the 80s, the 80's actually were a nice era.
I miss Andy Williams & his classic style. What a beautiful movie. Yep, this takes me back to a time when life was wonderful & enjoyable. Precious memories are wonderful.
Beautiful song video. Thanks USA musical artist Andy Williams.
Thanks Elizabeth Taylor...from The Sandpiper film 1965.
Thanks nipstertunes for uploading. (Sep 23,2021).
R.I.P Andy Williams,Elizabeth Taylor.
Beautiful Liz Taylor , divine Andy Williams (may they both RIP) - wonderful music - it really doesn't get any better than this. Thank you for posting
Thanks so much for watching, listening and commenting. Best wishes :))
The years I lived in Monterey were magical. So many women who were so beautiful in their own, individually way. This song brings it back to me in ways strange but delightful.
I will not return there again. My life has changed and the magic can not be repeated. But I have the memories and Big Sur is not so far away.
2:37 😢 I feel sad hearing this song it makes me feel sad but I think of my grandmother who sadly passed away in late April this year. Thankyou Andy Williams ❤
One of the 10 best singers of all time in our country. Different style, soft, unique transporting you to another world. God bless Andy, wherever you are.!
All I can say about this is that Andy was an angel sent down for us! His calming ways will never be forgotten. Stay blessed everyone...
The world was simply a better place with Andy Williams in it. Cheers!
AMEN!!
Is that Liz Taylor? What a beauty! Andy Williams can sing. Seen him in person many years back, great voice..
What a magic voice RIP the great Andy Williams
And RIP Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton and Vincente Minnelli

I think I'm the man you're looking for
*глупости не пиши.*
The real singers of the 20's through 50's are now ready to be reborn. I doubt they will reach the standard of excellence of the original group, but the opportunity is there for the taking! Those that feel they can, should go for it!
Beautiful song... Won an Oscar...
Meu cantor preferido tenho seus Álbuns . Não dou e nem empresto.amo está linda voz.
Found this while on Autoplay. Stunning...especially the film of Liz Taylor at her young and beautiful best! 6.2020.
IMHO this song remains the most beautiful song that has ever won an Oscar. It is simply SUBLIME on every level.
I was young then, and it was simpler. Now I’m old and have those memories when I hear this music.
I have listened to this romantic song since 1960's and am still listening to it now in 2020. I enjoy deeply the melody and lyric and miss Richard Burton and the lovely Elizabeth Taylor forever!
A mythic couple.
THERE IS JUST NOTHING LIKE THIS ANY MORE.
Elizabeth Taylor was so incredibly beautiful and Andy Williams was a marvelous singer.
Una bellísima voz como la de Andy Williams, toda la hermosura de Liz Taylor con su pareja Richard Burton y una playa espectacular... ¡qué más se puede pedir!
Beautiful voice and video.
Elizabeth Taylor was so stunning. 🔥
I just have to thank God for living and listening to a work of art like this.... Congratulations to those who share this truth.. 2020
Elizabeth e Richard o casal mais épico do cinema!
Andy Williams. The most perfect singer of his day on his worst day.
Such poetry and poignant memories of old lost loves 😢❤
When Liz looks into Richards eyes..... all you see is love. Such magic. Melts my heart every single time. They don't make people like that anymore or singers like Andy Williams
I agree on it.
Nice job. I miss the era of Elizabeth Taylor. She was a true legend, Andy Williams one of my favorite singers.
Absolutely 💯 Taylor was truly the definition of a Movie Star 🌟
who's private life way outshines an incredible career! 👏
The original power couple , sadly they couldn’t live with other or be happy without each other. But they sure made their mark on this boring old world , their candles shown bright for as long as they could and boy didn’t they light up our lives.
Elizabeth Taylor, has the most beautiful eyes l' ve ever seen 💔
And it makes us recall our precious Elizabeth Taylor
This reminds me so much of my mum and dad, too much love x. So hard when one has to leave the other, unbearable hurt and pain x
I am experiencing the same - my mum is in bad shape, been visiting her at hospital everyday for 2 weeks now. She can barely eat.
Слияние голоса,мелодии и текста…звучит божественно 😊Благодарю🙏❤
Timeless. Perfectly sung.
Wonderful recollections of times from long ago. This is truly one of the most beautiful romantic ballads of all-time.

Certainly yes.
So Ture!!!!
