- Needed some plinking ammo, so time to hit the reloading bench. I am using RCBS small base dies.
load data that I used proceed at your own risk.
10.6 gr aa1680
220gr berrys bullets
7 1/2 rem primers
Ok lets talk about how much you can load these for
berrys 220gr - $0.275
rem 7 1/2 -- $0.039
10.6 gr aa 1680 powder $0.0028 about 1 cent per 4 shells
each round cost aprox. $0.31-.32 you cant find ammo that cheap in the store, get out and get some reloading equipment. you will save money in the short run. best ammo price I can find for this caliber is .60. that being said I get to pull the trigger twice for the same cost pretty much.
i use a lot of the same Lee case prep tools but with a twist.
I chuck the case length cutter in my drill press and just let it run slow( have upgraded to adding a right angle attachment so the cutter is horizontal instead of vertical) and have the case holder in a screwdriver handle. I also drilled 2 shallow holes in the front of my bench by the drill press and drove the Lee chamfer tools in them, one each way.
So i chuck up a piece of brass, push it onto the trimmer, spin it against the outside then inside chamfer tools and un-chuck it into the finished brass bin. Much faster and easier on you hand and wrist
You need to try Hodgens 300 CFE Blk powder it works miracles for subsonic
I have two 300 Blacks, Pistol and Rifle. The pistol will chamber brass loaded in a Lee Die, the rifle will not. So, I had to get the SB dies so I can shoot the same loads in both guns. I started with 200 grain bullets and CFE-BLK powder. It flows through my RCBS dispenser perfectly. For what I do with subs, I'd rather have an occasional crack, than a bullet stuck in the barrel. I'm always shooting for 1050 fps.
Dude TY. Goodness people are such trolls. GL with your channel
I almost bought full size die. After days of intense research, I stumbled upon the difference of both dies by accident. Can't wait to start reloading
Yea small base dies are not talked about glad you didn't make the mistake.
Hey thanks for making the video. Good info here, however you'd go much faster using a lever style powder dispenser such as an RCBS Uni-Flow or a Lee Perfect measure, etc. Cheers....
Yea i do have a lever style dispenser i should use it more often. But I have more piece of mind seeing that I'm getting the correct gr of powder using the dispenser.
Great vid!!!!
Thanks
Really?
Hey great info video my friend 👍
I’m getting ready to start some 300 blk reloading but I’m wanting to get down to 950 fps like most subsonic shelf bought ammo. Can’t find any load data for that fps do you have an idea where to find some?
Good stuff .
Glad you enjoyed it
You’re local to Lee? You must be a fellow Wisconsinite.
Just curious, what’s your barrel length. I will be loading using the same powder/bullet combo. Trying to use your 10.6 grains as a starting reference.
Yes sir I have a 16in barrel
Hey mate. Shouldn't we use thicker cartridge casing? Does this bullet fill all the empty space in the casing? Greeting from Poland
id doesnt seem to mater so far for me on the thickness of the casing such as a 556 casing that has been turned into the 300bo now as far as the bullet filling the empty space not all loads are 100 percent. it really matters on bullet weight and powder.
Could you put links to what you have? I like your setup and want to get something similar
if you haven't started reloading already I would suggest a kit and a reloading manual. Doing it this way will put you on the right track.
do you prefer the small base dies for 300 Blackout? what made you decide to use those instead?
I chose small base dies for the fact that it will be running through the AR platform and I didn't want a jam. also the brass was bought online in once fired condition. That can leave a problem with case expansion for there chamber to mine. I have had a problem with regular dies in other calibers not wanting to chamber in a semi auto, such as .280 rem in a 742 wood master or 7mm mag in a BAR.
@@tinkertime3849 Good Tip man, I'm running 300 BLK in an AR also and want to prevent the same problems. how happy are you with the Dies you have? got link? didn't see it in the description.
No I don't have a link but the set us rcbs 22407. I do like the dies have never had a problem. They are an ar specific die.
@@WrightWayDave The RCBS small base size and deprime dye is the only one you really need to prevent the case feed issues. I bought my RCBS dyes as a set though, so I don't use the RCBS seat/crimp dye to do anything but sink the bullet, my crimp is done by a lee factory crimp dye for 300AAC. I have a dillion xl750 press
What is the name of that camfer trim two sided du-hickey you were using?
Lee case trimmer they come caliber specific.
The speed of sound is 1125fps.
Just what happened (with the brass kicking out of the holder) is my only complaint about the Lee case trimming system. I wish they held the brass better. I find that to be a very big PITA!
I am curious. How do those Berry's Bullets perform?
I haven't shot enough to see how good the gun can really group i know they performed about the same as the hornady 125 gr hollow points
Do you ever reload non-subs ?
Yes I do reload non subs also.
Please use safety glasses when trimming with the drill. We want to see you do more videos.
I usually do wear them especially when priming thanks for the consern
