  • This easy and inexpensive storage solution for DPNs creates a beautiful display, keeping your needles easy to access and well-organized. No more rifling through a drawer of one million plastic packages, trying to find the right size!

Plant Propagation Tubes, 7 tubes, Set of 2: amzn.to/3tyShAB
Geometric Wire Shelves, Small, Set of 2: amzn.to/3Fg34Sz
When I purchased my items in May 2023, the propagation tube set was $14.99 and the shelf set was $18.99. As you know, prices tend to vary on Amazon, but there are tons of options under $20 for a propagation tube set to create your own DPN display!
Tips for choosing the right tube display for your needs:
    - There are SO many propagation tube display options on Amazon and Etsy. I've also seen sets at Target and World Market! Search for "Propagation Station", "Plant Propagation Tubes", or "Test Tube Bud Vase"
    - I chose a wall mount option, but there are also hanging displays that you could put up with a command hook for a hardware-free option, and freestanding versions that you could place on a shelf or table.
    - Double check the height of the test tube, and make sure it's appropriate for the length of DPN you plan to store. Some of the options I was looking at were going to be a little too long for my 6" sock sizes.
    - Think about how many tubes you will need to store your collection, and consider if you have multiple sets of certain sizes. I can store 3 or more sock sizes in a single tube, and fit 2 sets of US 4-8's, but only 1 set of US 9's. This may vary based on the diameter of your tubes.
    - Decide if you want to create any sort of labeling system. I haven't done this yet for mine, since I want to create something adjustable in case I need to change my setup in the future. Right now I just have everything in order from smallest to largest.
Additional items you will need for a wall mounted option:
    - Drill (with appropriately sized drill bits)
    - Stud finder (while securing into studs isn't a concern in terms of load bearing, you'll want to know whether you will need to use a drywall anchor or if you can screw directly into the stud)
    - Hammer (to tap in the anchors)
    - Painter's tape & pen
    - Screwdriver
    - Level

I like this solution. If I can get my basement "studio" organized again, I think I'll give it a try. I can't do this in my main living area because I have two Siamese cats who WILL find a way to get to it. If I can reach it, they'll find a way!

I totally feel you with the cats! There's a reason why this lives in my studio... I can close the door on it so SOMEBODY can't get to it!

great idea and looks so neat and tidy! And can you tell me the name of the olive green long sleeved sweater you are wearing during part of your video? I love the back of it.

How do you know what size is in each tube?

I currently just have everything from smallest to largest as you go from left to right. Each tube only has one size, so it's pretty easy to just count over. The sock side has 0-3, and the larger side has 4-9! At some point I do want to create a labeling system, but I don't want it to be permanent (like writing on the wood) in case I want to change what sizes go where in the future

A labelmaker would work, it does tiny writing that looks classy :)
