That rack of same-weight metals that they were fondling and talking about their oxidation petina's ... probably the reason the bottoms (inside the block) are more oxidized than the tops is because people actually touch/ grab the tops of the rods more often (wearing off the oxidations with the friction from their grasp) but the bottoms are rarely touched / rubbed / weathered so they retain their oxidation / petinas

@@joetheblind1 Like the other guy said it oxidizes in exactly the same way but just slower. Like the name implies it's because oxygen burns it, the acid in the oak just accelerates this process. While oxygen is necessary for our lives, it's vile because it also degrades everything it touches.
Two of my favorite nerds doing a show-and-tell. I totally relate to the love and fascination with science these guys have. Reminds me of my childhood best friend and the hours we spent learning about everything science. Now, as a father, I get to share my love of science with my children.

Adam and Michael were both such huge cornerstones of my childhood/young teens, I've loved their projects for years- I remember losing my mind when this video first dropped! I still come back to it because they make me feel like I'm watching cool older cousins talk about things I want to be in on. I like how at the end, the eye person that Michael is talking to, is responding to how he says "So remember Earth, we are always watching", you can see their eyelids move on the "Earth" and "we", as Michael tries to sound tough.
The bit at the end of the video reminded me that some rhythm game players will blink their eyes one at a time to avoid missing anything while playing. Jakads is one example of someone that I've noticed with this blinking method. That might throw a bit of a spanner into the odds of everyone blinking or being asleep at the same time, if there are more people from more time zones that also do this while gaming. They'd all have to be asleep, or not gaming, to close both eyes at the same time.
