"Kneipe" is used in German in exactly the same sense as "Knajpa" 🙂 I always loved the way Czech takes foreign loan words and adjusts the spelling so that the pronounciation stays the same (jam - džem, weekend - víkend). But my favourite was a shop that I found years ago when I lived in Prague: "Fajnšmekr" - took me at least a triple take to realise that the title came from the German word "Feinschmecker", which is a really old way of refering to a Gourmet 😁
I think it's the proper way to loan words :) Writing is there to represent the spoken language, and it could become confusing if it's the other way around

Wow! Beautiful. The first time I went to Czech Republic, I was taken to Jiserska hory to try cross-country skiing, we stayed at Presinska Chata, and we stopped at that same cafe in Hrebinek. I fell in love with a country and have been back many times. Great to see 😊

As someone whose dedecek had a cottage in these mountains, this video is bringing back lots of nostalgic feelings. Going to the Czech Republic and spending a month during the summer just exploring Jizerske Hory was such a fun time.
As a someone from Prague who frequently travels around the country I must say that Jablonec & Liberec are my favourite cities so far! Along with Litoměřice and Olomouc. Jablonec is like a tiny San Francisco with very steep streets. The dam area (Jablonec sea) is amazing and the city centre is really beautiful, full of German history. Also, the Volt brewery located here produces some of the best quality beers I ever had and their steampunk villa is a hidden gem I always love to visit. They're not regular cows, that made me laugh. I'm originally from Scotland and Highland cattle produce very good quality beef. They are tasty. But I want to visit Jarda's Bistro, chleba se sadlem looks like first choice.

In Jablonec be aware of some dark skinned people (Gypsies) which might be even more interested into you if they do understand that you don’t speak Czech. Just keep on going and avoid by these people crowded places for longer standing. Mainly in the darker hours of the day….
Edit: It‘s not about racism. Everywhere can be bad people. It’s not about ethnicity. It’s about experience in that case. I visited Jablonec with a German friend last year. We‘ve spoken German together. It was a think that I never experienced before because I speak Czech as mother tongue. Jablonec is well known (together with towns like Děčín, Ústí nad Labem, Most, Chomutov) for such problems. We were passing the bigger bus station where a crowd of older teenagers was hanging around. As they saw us, they stood up and followed us. Nothing happened, but the unsafe feeling being only two followed by a group of about 5 guys wasn’t nice and in darker hours of the day I really don’t want to know was able to happen. They can be really nice to you, until one of them takes your backpack behind you or they surround you.
Love your channel, I have learned so much about the Czech Republic. You should do a segment on the famous Czech German Shepherds of the Pohranicni Straze. A lot has been lost since Jiri Novotny passed, he was the former head breeder of PS dogs. Those lines are diminishing and I wonder if they will ever be resurrected to their former glory. Keep up the good work and be safe.
Thank you for this video, the area looks absolutely beautiful. The longest I have stayed in the Czech Republic is two weeks, I am hoping one day to spend September through November. I have no doubt it would a fantastic visit, I would certainly spend some time in this region.
Great photography, thank you. Maybe telling prices on travel, rooms besides food and drink would be helpful. Many people have no idea about euros versus dollars or Czech crowns.

They can be really nice to you, until one of them takes your backpack behind you or they surround you.
Jizerky jsou láska
I am from Austria, but I don’t live in the alps and my great grandparents came from Czechoslovakia, so I am interested in those videos anyways! Lol
Czech Republic is beautiful
Great photography, thank you. Maybe telling prices on travel, rooms besides food and drink would be helpful. Many people have no idea about euros versus dollars or Czech crowns.
Always to your advantage if you are from the West. It is cheaper than most of Western Europe.
very beautiful thank you for sharing. europe is most lovely place in the world. i am german living in canada and i can tell you honestly i miss european culture the most. big hugs :)
Probably your best episode actually! I would definitley check this small town out!! :) :)
I would love to ride a bike in these mountains
Check BKXC's videos from our country on RUclips
I would love to go there but we won't have time. Maybe next time. Beautiful!
awesome video guys. sharing also places besides Prague. ❤
It looks also like a great place for trail running🤗
also, as they have peat bogs, and peat is used in Scotland to make whisky...is there someone there doing any kind of distillery? 😜
always loved this country 🥰
I am looking forward to your video about Šumava - our water goes also to two different seas - but they are little further away - to the North Sea and to Black Sea (via Vltava - Labe and Řezná - Dunaj)
I think the Rock sitting on the boulder may have been a runestone just from the overall shape
Great content! Looking forward to more nature!
Beautiful. Definitely visiting when next travel to Czech.
Home, sweet home. ❤️
You lost me at «snow». Love from Norway
Some common words in Czech and Romanian: Jizerky - Iezer, Rašeliniště - răzelniște, bižuterie - bijuterie, šljivovica - șlivobiță
In Ireland we have something similar (here 1 of many, Lanyon Quoit standing stones, Peninsular in Cornwall)
They say there were used for after we burn the Dead. We put the ash there. It a doorway into the other 🌎 😊🇮🇪 it a story
A few less pine trees and that's southern Ohio. Very beautiful.
There is a paradise 90 minutes by car from Prague in any direction. In fact, usually much less time to reach the paradise is needed.
Prague is a tourist trap unless you really know what to and not to (I have to say HG tries really hard to explain). The real wonderland begins just a few km away.
