This battery reconditioning program exceeded my presumptions. It worked on any drill battery, several AA and AAA batteries batery.repair and any camera battery. The steps are simple and the act itself is exciting to do. No matter what type of battery you`ve got, it is sure to function again!
my son has a hornet 600 - the problem manifested as the battery being drained over time, thus not being able to start the engine, crank yes but no start - eventually no crank either. long story short, we checked battery (had become very bad because drainage below point of salvation), rectifier, and stator. Turns out the stator was bad. New stator and runs like a champ. Starts every time now. Son happy.
If you have a current draw that is over the factory specs start by pulling fuses to isolate the system that is causing the over draw then you can easily figure out which component in that system is the culprit by isolating them. Once you find the component you can test it or its sub components. A little trouble shooting will save you a ton of money and time in the long run.
Thanks for the video - makes total sense once you think about it...

Cool, yes it does make sense... Thanks good tip to have for a later use....
Bro....thank you so much! Helped me wrap my mind around this! I love it
Excellent video. Very clear and precise. Very helpful. Thank you. Keep up the excellent work.
Dude you rock great job some one I can. Understand
Nice to see you MD
Man I’m not even shocked it’s a Honda rebel, I’m having such a hell of a time with something going on with a parasitic draw I can’t seem to find.
this was helpful thanks
Your voice is exactly sound like the youtuber called "Ryantheleader". Anyway thanks for the tutorial man ❤🙆♂️😁
Very informative
Great info 👍
Thanks a Ton !!
great video. i have a vt 1100 94 mod rounded 100,000 km. and am going to change the stator on it.it killed my new battery in 6 weeks . so i hope its only the stator ,but we will find out.
Very smart! I’ll have to check my bike for unnecessarily high amperage draw.
I have a 2003 Honda sabre vt1100 with 4 speakers in the fairing 2 in each saddle back with a 300 watt amp. I ride for two hours with radio playing and it drains the battery after 2hrs of riding and playing radio. Please help
@narr narr. You are simply exceeding the available power that your stator can produce. Your bike does not have an alternator (like a car). It has something called a 'stator'. Your bike runs on this stator that generates power to run your lights, ignitor circuit (coils), and to recharge your battery. The problem you're having is that you have more electrical items drawing power than your stator can produce. Example: a stock motorcycle may have a 400 watt stator, with 350 watts of standard electrical items onboard. That leaves 50 watts to spare for add-on accessories. Here's the math: 400 watts generated - 350 watts standard accessories = 50 watts available. Ok, now, the owner adds a 200 watt amplifier for the radio. Oops. Now, there is 550 watts being drawn from the stator that only produces 400 watts. Guess where the other 150 watts is coming from? Yes. You guessed correctly. Your battery is being drained because your stator does not produce enough wattage for everything you are running. You only have two methods to repair this problem. 1. Have a custom stator made that will handle all your wattage/draws. 2. Reduce the amount of draw you have on the 'bike. Good luck.
Thanks for the info!!
Did your bike emit a subtle beeping sound (unlike the security system beep) as your battery was dying while you were riding it?
I use an old Avo Meter it doesn't blow fuses it just ejects it and breaks the circuit.
Thanks a bunch. Super valuable
Hi I see that the video is from 2016 could you please update info for the same type of video if there is new info or new tips related to checking if the battery is being drained ? thanks a lot
You suggest unpluging things untill you find what area of the bike is causing a drain. Will pulling fuses do the same thing?
Good point🤔🤔🤔🤔
Only pull ONE fuse at a time, and check the amp-test meter. If the fuse pulled now shows 0.00 draw, that's the circuit causing problems. Check the circuit for shorts, melted relays, pinched power wires, etc.
Rectifier regulator.
Thanks for your video...👍😊
Something is sucking my bat down on my black line.. like count dracula..sob.. taking it to the shop.. i was never much for electrical trouble shooting.. some dude's are really into it.. its like s deciaplen I guess .. 😊
Brilliant
If my motorcycle uses a 6.3AH battery would it be detrimental if I use a 8AH or a 12AH battery when the 6.3AH goes bad???
I just hooked a led kit up to this bike of my buddies bike he just bought its an older bike and he bought it used we put the lights on last night and this morning it almost started but didn't is it that the battery is just not a good battery? it's an older bike its a 1998...or is there something else that needs to be done to cut off power fully? Like the led kit from Amazon has a factory push button cheap on off style on the ground which that I hooked up to the actual battery ground and I hooked the positive up to the actual battery positive terminal... does it need a completely separate toggle switch on top of that whole setup also to stop the power fully or?
How can i put a lights to the battery to find the issue when I star unplugging
Just seen your video I've been having battery issues I did what you said and it's showing 0.06 so what does that mean and how do I fix it
Awesome video thank you 🙏🏼 man
Great video. Very well explained. Thanks!!
Thanks! good video
Hello sir , I have an ATV that always drains every 2 days it has a new battery .
I did this on my 2005 CBR600RR set to 200m and it read 19.4 and every few seconds jumped to 25.2 for about 1 second.
I just bought the bike. Seller said it drained batteries but also said he never rode it either.
This was with a new fully charged battery.
Any thoughts.
could be a bad stater. take it to a shop if you can and have them check all that out.
So I've found that since installing a remote LED light kit, my battery has been draining to the point of death after not riding my bike for only a week or so, even though the lights are off at all times unless the bike is running. Would these be able to drain a battery so quickly while not activated? Thanks in advance, and thanks for a such a well explained video!
+Gabriel Brown Highly unlikely! Something else is going on!
That's what I thought...probably a bad ground somewhere. Thanks!
@gabriel brown. The LED circuit that causes such a draw will not be 'open' or else it won't draw power. What draws power is a closed circuit: one that is USING/DRAWING power. An open circuit cannot drain power since there is no continous path to ground. Simply put, I bet you have a relay on your LED lights. That relay should be wired to ignition, NOT the battery. Move the power supply for the switch-side of the relay from the battery to ignition. That means your circuit can only get power when the key is ON, or Running. That will prevent your battery from being drained by the relay.
@@kellymc239 any way this could be explained via video like how to hook led kit to ignition???
@Kelly MC @TheMotorcycleMD Quick question so PIN 30 should be wired to the ignition, and keep PIN 85 wired with the inline fuse to the battery right?
I believe I made the same error, i wired pin 30 with a fuse straight to the battery and pin 85 with another inline fuse back to the battery
Hey man i'm really diggin your instructional vids i can actually follow along, can you Please help me out with testing my 1971 Honda CL450 Selenium rectifier and voltage regulator?

help me bro i have Honda 100cc and it comes with 2.5ah lead acid battery i had trouble with the headlight it was 35w helogen which was ac and i installed 18w led and got connection on battery but my battery dies if i turn my light on without starting...and i change my 2.5ah battery with 6ah dry battery but it still keeps dying...and before and now whenever i turn my signal the neutral light starts blinking like battery is not strong but i got 6ah and my need only 4.2ah but when i ask electricians they say its ok but i know something is wrong which i don't understand....pls help
i bought a new batt tested it before installing to my scooter. after one day the volts gradually decreasing and eventually the machine stops. something is really draining my battery. pls help
Raffy Padua Check out my other charging system videos and perform the charging system output check at the battery to see if it is charging
12.7v before cranking then 14.5v when machine starts. 13. something on idle then the volts increases when i open the throttle.
do i need to remove the negative overnight just to make sure the batt wouldnt drain
Raffy Padua That sounds like it is charging great!! When you shut the bike off measure the voltage, go back in an hour or two and recheck. If I were you I would buy a good battery tender with the pos/neg pigtails that attach to the battery and just plug it in when you can. If you can't, than yes I would disconnect the battery until you find the problem.
TheMotorcycleMD i wanna chat with you do u have facebook acct sir
That guy is an actor on adult swim
Good instructions. This is what happen with me this morning. This moto has been sitting down for almost 2 weeks. I attached the jumper cable to my car without cranking it up. Got the bike into running position, but before I cranked up I heard sparking sounds near the battery. Furthermore, the moto ran for a min or so. Suddenly shut off completely. I did the same procedure again, but there is nothing; no power, the fan is not running where it should be running on 98 Shadow Spirit vt1100 when you turn the key on. What is the problem? Thank you.
A short circuit in the ground cable may caused this problem. The short caused the main fuse to blown. Repair the short and replace main fuse.
@@rvelandi1919 correct. Sounds like a main wire grounded out, and shorted the main relay or main fuse. He should fix the problem prior to installing a new relay/fuse.
What if my battery is rated for 14amps
Good video. I just bought an 87 Yamaha Virago. Replaced battery but it goes dead on me even after 24+ hours of trickle charger. When I retry I hear a spark sound ( no actual spark) followed by click, click, click and then dead again.
Bad connection at the battery terminal. A 'click' sound is the main relay opening due to a lack of good connection. Check your connections, make sure to add a bit of dielectric grease on the terminals. Charge the battery with a known, good charger. A 'trickle' charger will NOT charge a totally dead battery. Trickle chargers only maintain a charge that's already good. Use a proper 2 amp charger that has a current-sense capability (so as to not over-charge the battery). Then, start the bike.
What if my batt is drawing 1.02 amps?? Plz help
Start with the test shown in this video. Now, SLOWLY, and ONE BY ONE, pull a single fuse. Then, check the meter. If the 1.02 amp is still showing, put the fuse back. Pull the next fuse, and check the meter. Do this same routine until the meter reads. 0.00. When that happens, it means you just pulled the fuse from the circuit with the draw. Repair the short in that citcuit to stop the draw.
When i charge my quad bike battery i dont take the battery out to charge it i just leave it all hooked up but when its charging and if i touch the metal frame anywhere i get abit of a tingle zap sensation. I was wandering would that be from a power wire that might be hooked up to the earth by accident?
Great question but no! It’s totally normal. Your body is working as a ground! That is why it is best to install and remove your battery like so:
Pos = +
Neg = -
When ever you “remove” the cables you are “subtracting” (-) from the battery. So remove negative first.
When ever you attach cables or install new battery. You are “adding” (+) to the battery. So install the positive cable first.
This method should minimize any sparks or archs 👍🏻👍🏻
current draw should be checked with engine kill switch in off position right?
Favaz Abdulla it won't matter!
The console on Duke 390 shows voltage of 12.2V ( which I know is low). If I push start my bike and ride it long, I'm able to self start the bike 2 or 3 times then on its the clicking noise.
You can check this link, it's me trying to slef start the bike
ruclips.net/video/no1TqO374_g/видео.html
This is RUclips. Show me! don't talk about it. I think I learned more about your multimeter and how it works than I did finding a drain on my battery. lol
My motorcycle starts for a second and dies.
My bike is constantly being drained evem while riding. My charging system has been replaced (rect and stator) amd still the problem persists...except my motorcycle wont die unless i turn it off.
I did the testing and im getting 1.0 milli Amp draw. Is that ok? I dont have any accesories equipped to this bike and it doesnt have ABS
same problem mate.. dont know what it is aswell
@@SupremeSkilz found out later i had a loose ground connected to the engine. Which caused my headlights to draw more amps than it should...then later damaged my stator.
My bike was a 07 GSXR 600
Dying
Ya talk to much. Just get to the job at hand. Geeeez
Hint for your future videos: don't pander to the audience (like Fox News), or treat your viewers like kids. Saying something idiotic like "....parasitic, as in parasite..." Really??? Did you think your viewers couldn't figure out that a parasitic draw was rooted in the word 'parasite'? Come on, kid. If the videos you're going to post are geared towards adults who ride & repair motorcycles, then treat those same people as adults who can understand words past 4th grade. Otherwise, you have good content in the video, & a great idea how to show power draws at the battery. Just work a bit on the presentation, without pandering to your audience.
Dear god he's just explaining shit out man, theres obviously a reason why he has nearly 150k subs and you have 150. You have a idiotic dickhead outlook.
I'm a fucking dumb ass. I need it simplified for my squirrel brain.
Kelly you suck
