EPITAPH (Live, Fillmore West, 12/15/1969)
(Fripp, Lake, McDonald, Giles, Sinfield)
These are similar in format to the versions at Fillmore East, with slight performance variations. Note, for example, that the final verse of A Man A City is sung, not instrumental.

Greg 💕Greg❤️Greg💕Greg❤️Lake:::::::::::::: VOICE!!!!!! There’s no One else ......... 4 ever
The voice I fell in love with back in 1969. Then moved on to ELP to bless us with the love of music. My heart hurts with the loss of a brilliant singer, song writer. The most beautiful voice in prog in my opinion.
You know what?...that's a good point...what a voice...
Greg Lake was such an incredible talent!!!
Agree. Some singers weren't convincing live. Greg was equally good .
"Take a Pebble"
This live version is so wonderful, even touches me more than the studio take. Sound of music is incredible, it feels like Greg Lake (in den height of his beautiful voice power) ja singing right into our ears ... And there's s message ...
I wish there was video of this band at this time. That would be a treasure to watch them performing these timeless songs. Thank you Gentelmen for your contributions to Humanity. This was and is art at its finest.
The mellotron is the best part of the song
I do believe this is the best version of this song I've ever heard. Greg Lake at his absolute best!
This is the night Keith Emerson and Greg Lake met and talked
ELP's conception.
One of THE defining vocals of the rock era in my opinion. That Lake was able to replicate it live is absolutely breathtaking.
Epitaph - the best of best. The best song ever written. Chilling. Ever relevant.
Thank you, Robert for this timeless gem. And bless his soul, Greg Lake, for delivering this piece of art!!!
Epic.
Incredible performance by the best invocation of King Crimson.
Absolutely Chris!
Just as good today as they day they wrote it, let alone played it!
As it always will be, too.
❤
Thank you for giving us this masterpiece
Very epic
Sound is amazing! So good!
Incredible song. As a youth just hitting my teenage years I found this wonderful music called progressive rock and band called King Crimson. It touched my spirit in such a way as no other music had or could. The combination of different players and instruments is a 5 man celestial orchestra. The mellotron in particular played by the late Mr. McDonald along with Greg Lakes voice and Mr. Fripps beautiful guitar took me to another place. Michael Giles syncopated drums created melody lines of their own and Peter Sinfield’s lyrics were thought provoking. This was a music that didn’t need drugs, sex, fast cars or other fleeting and negative activities to enjoy. Just the opposite. Truly a good influence that held my attention in a very difficult and fast moving time of my life. Today is the 49th anniversary of another excellent Crimson release Larks Tongues in Aspic. A truly original
band that did not need nor want fleeting things such as drugs to get in the way of their creative musical journey. King Crimson are one of the longest touring bands in classic progressive rock history. Truly an innovator that set the bar for so many other bands.
Longest touring if you accept the premise that it was still King Crimson after this lineup. Greg Lake likened it to McCartney touring with Wings and calling it The Beatles.
¿King Crimson 1969 EN VIVO? MuCHAS GRACIAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GENIAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Esta fué la últimas vez que los 5 tocaron juntos
Wow. I was WAY too young to have gone, but this is as good as I could have imagined! Just wow.
Wow. Performed live back in the era before autotuning and modern electronic enhancements. These guys were loaded with pure talent which no longer exists in today's scheme of live extravagant shows.

I wish this band had done 1 more album altogether. Apparently the next album had a couple of songs that were written or started by these chaps. Chemistry is an illusive thing. Cadence and Cascade with Greg Lake singing was amazing. Michael Giles drumming on the 1st 2 albums is spectacular. Very tasteful and unique. Ian Macdonald was like the keyboard player for Pink Floyd where their contributions are maybe over shadowed by other members of the band but an integral part of the sound.
Ian McDonald wasn't overshadowed in my opinion, he definitely was an integral part of the sound
Ian McDonald was definitely an integral part of the sound
