Hi Leigh - Great video, thanks for the update! Love the dunes, reminds me of Pismo (Oceano) dunes out near me in central California, one of my favorite places! I'd say I've had similar experience with my Disco5. No major mechanical issues just some pesky electrical issues with the front parking sensors, the hood latch and the engine (Diesel Td6) going into restricted performance mode a couple times but if I shut the engine off and back on it goes away and runs fine. I recently had the Apple Car Play update done to my car which cost $500 but to me was well worth it. The infotainment system works much better and faster and I love Apple Car Play! Currently I just purchased the hidden winch mount from Lucky8 and I'm working on gathering all the parts to install the hidden front winch! I've towed my 7,000+ lb travel trailer all over the west coast and I've had no issues and plenty of power towing up some large grades. There is still not another car I'd rather own! Although I'm excited to see what the defender looks like! It appears to me from the camo pictures they've released that the defender will be a smaller more jeep sized vehicle but I was curious if they'll offer a larger 3 row version like the discovery (probably not). Love your videos... thanks :)

Hi Erik EarthRover- thank your for you kind words. EarthRover inspired me to start. I am a member of Discovery D5 Owners Group Australia on Facebook, you should join we have people from the States that enjoy the Ozzie humour while talking D5.

Both of you have great videos! I purchased my 2017 Discovery in Nov 2017. I love the car and also had a few pesky bugs with radio. I had apple car play installed and most all bugs went away. Except the one where my remote start will not allow me to launch apple car play if remote started. Error says apple car play not available. Earth Rover what happen to your videos? I loved them. I too want to install hidden hitch and would love to hear your experience and what other parts are needed. I too use mine a lot at hunting club and am amazed of what this thing will do just with software terrain response. It goes where other 4x4 will get stuck. It’s crazy. Anyway thanks!

@@grillngill2955 I had the same issue come to think of it. I don't use remote start often but the I used it a couple weeks ago and had the same "Apple Car Play Not Available" issue. I didn't put the two together I thought it was a random glitch because it hadn't happened again but I haven't used remote start either. Well them we know it's a global software glitch and not specific to our cars. Also with the update I believe updates can be downloaded and installed "over the air" so when an update is available it should prompt us automatically without having to take it to the dealer.

Hi Erik, I still miss your videos. I enjoy watching people from other countries and what they do with their D5 and their local areas. Please get back to editing. I am running KO2s because of you and think they are great.

Thanks for your video. I recently got my 2018 Discovery HSE MY2019 and it arrived with continental cross contact 275/45 r21 lx sport tyres. At least two of the tyres need to be replaced very soon. I'm just wondering if it's worth changing the tyres to all terrain tyres if at some stage I want to take it on the sand? Your thoughts if you don't mind. Thanks

I currently have B. F. Goodrich KO2s Tyres on my car, great off road but a little noisy at 80 kph. Also poor grip on wet highways. This video was done on the original tyres and if you averaging a sandy day trip once a year I would stay with all seasons. As being new to the Discovery it will take a while to understand the Off road settings. In soft sand start with 15 psi, traction control off, high range and manual shift and experiment with 2500rpms in 2nd high in the soft flat sand and slowly increase and decrease your revs and see if you can feel the sweet spot or "float" spot that your Discovery is doing it without much drag. Some people get the "feel" faster than others. Sand driving is all about smoothness and the sweet spot creating the least drag.

HI Leigh - I just realized I was logged in under Erik Alan (below) but you probably remember me as EarthRover from the videos I used to make... also wanted to tell you that I got my Disco5 published in the Rovers North 2019 Calendar if you happen to get your hands on one look up June 2019!
