In my opinion, Henna is drying! However, I think henna is excellent protein/protection treatment along with aloe powder or some form of products that’ll condition the hair! You must always keep “Henna” hair conditioned and moisturized! Henna along with most of these Ayurveda herbs will grow the hair exceptionally well IF you have a proper hair care regiment! If you’re just adding henna and nothing else without proper hair care, the hair will most definitely break off!
Thanks for your opinion but we’re talking about facts in this video.❤️Even with proper hair care henna will break your hair off long term. I’ve been doing this over a decade. Most of my clients are women who think like you and then in their 40-60 when hair weathering sets in they call me. I treat protein overload from henna daily on women in that age group. Henna links to protein and never leaves the hair causing the hair shaft to break down overtime. There are other things people can do that don’t put permanent molecular bricks within the hairshaft. Having different hairstyles or products in combination with it does nothing but put a additional layer on the hair to give you the illusion of healthy hair. Sis, Aloe is pure protein so adding aloe (protein) to a protein linking herb is only going to increase protein overload. Please go learn more about herbs and the human body sis. Henna does not belong in the hair but do your thing. You were warned.❤️ Thanks for watching!
I agree. I've been using Henna for seven years and have not experienced hair breakage nor curl release because I pair it with other conditioning powders. My hair has never been healthier after incorporating Henna and other Ayurvedic powders in my regimen. Parts of this video are very misleading and may discourage some from exploring Ayurvedic hair care practices.
Again I treat women who think like you daily. They’ve been using it for 35 years then the protein blocks get too big. Do what you want you were warned.
@@christina9148 Agree.
@@christina9148 absolutely 💯
Thank you. You confirmed my decision to stop using henna. I have low porosity hair. I didn't realize that henna was a protein treatment. I did notice that it changed the texture of my hair from being naturally kinky curly(4B) to having a straightened feel to it that I didn't like. So I stopped using it a couple of months ago. I thank you again for affirming my decision and educating me on what happened. I recently used a natural lemon rinse on my hair, and it feels more natural and healthier now. ☺️
Sis please just use a regular shampoo. Food doesn’t go in your hair. You’re focusing on the pros ignoring all the cons. The cons outweigh the pros.
@IamCynDoll I do use shampoo and conditioner. However, last time, I followed that with a ratio of one TBSP of lemon juice to a cup of distilled water, and I noticed that my hair felt much healthier afterward.
You live and you learn but I’m glad you are here to help people before they do it.. 🥰😘
Always!❤❤❤
@@IamCynDoll I especially like how you answer with respect even when meeting with opposition.
Wow, this was very insightful. I've always had problems with henna leaving my hair dry, but I just thought I wasn't conditioning my hair enough. I'm glad I saw this video before I tried it again. I know there's a stylist I follow who says henna is great for strengthening the hair of someone who has CCCA, which is why I wanted to give it a try again.
that explains why my hair felt crispy after using it. good to know!
Glad I could help!❤❤❤
I made the mistake of using henna without doing full research. Did not know I would be stuck with henna forever until it grows out or get it extracted. I'm terrified of getting it extracted because of possible long term damage. Once again put too much trust in the Natural Hair Movement without doing my research.
Thank you for your video. I have been using henna and indigo for the past 3 years as i have had serious reactions to chemical dyes. Before using it i did a lot of research. I have found that henna has strengthened my hair however i do use it with aloe vera, i deep condition after each henna and indigo treatment and moisture regularly. My hair is soft after each use. People like myself who cannot use commercial chemical dyes due to allergies this is a viable natural option.
My clients are those who thought like you until they get to their 40’s and the protein overload has set in and is beyond repair. Do your thing you were warned.
@@IamCynDoll what would you recommend therefore to dye grey hair as I'm allergic to chemical dyes. I'm not ready to embrace my greys yet.
Video coming soon.
I have mainly high porosity hair. Commercial dyes have always damaged my hair. I use henna and indigo to color my grays, roughly once every 2-3 months.I don't use protein treatments but I use moisturizing deep conditioners in between. I'm in my 50s and have more hair than most women my age and quite a few who are younger than me. Not telling anyone else what they should do with their hair but just sharing my real world experience in case it's helpful to someone 🤷🏾♀️
This is very helpful. I too am in my 50's and I colour my hair with henna and indigo. My hair is thriving now than when I used chemical dyes at the hairdressers.
At first, the henna was great but my hair still start to break. When I was ready to heat train my hair, the breakage started to show. I finally grew it out and cut out the henna into a bob.
An adore hair rinse helped me get better results and color
Yes! Thank you so much for sharing! Glad your hair recovered from a Henna. ❤️
Thanks for sharing. I'm going to cut mine off as well and try the adore.
I do henna 2x a year and color with no problem.
So did my clients. Everything works until it doesn’t.
My sis henna’s her hair for 10 years once a month and is now noticing shorter hair that is not growing past her shoulders.
I stopped the henna over a year ago. Told her to stop and follow a regimen like Cyn’s 7 Day challenge. She refused and reminded me that I’m the one who introduced her to henna, so whenever she complains I change the subject.
@Glad2BGolden She's over processing her hair. That's way to much. I know my hair and 2x a year in good enough. My hair is down my back and strong.
Great! Your hair looks magnificent. 💯😁
Thank you!! 😁
Thank you. i was going to ask you about Henna. Another one bites the dust. Bought but didn't use yet.
❤️❤️❤️❤️
For the first time I saw a change in my curl pattern. I did henna a few days ago and I couldn't understand why my curl is a bit off. I have been dong henna ebery year or 2. So glad I came across this vid cos I wouldn't have made the connection. I like my hair colour after henna and I am allergic to ppd and aimilar chemicals,, so anything else doesn't quite work for me. Semi-permanent colours arent an option for me. So well, I will just have to get used to my mousy brown hair. Thanks for this informative vid
Cyn, I have dry hair as a result of years of henna treatments. I just ordered the Olaplex system based on your recommendations No. 0, 3, 4, 4C, 5, 5L, 6, 8, and 9. I now realize that I cannot use them because you explaining how henna penetrates the hair. TY.
I reached out to Olaplex to ask if I could use their system post using henna, and they recommended finding a beautician to detox my hair using clarifying shampoos and chelating hair treatments. Can you do a video on this? I think it would be great for us to learn more. Please also add any tips for us who need to find a salon that offers this service.
I am in the NYC area, and in looking for a detox treatment salon online my concern is that I do not see any Black natural-textured women in their photos. I will keep investigating as most salons I see their services focus on color treatments. Overall, I know detoxing my hair will be great 👍🏾
We ❤ love you too and THANK YOU for opening my eyes. I wish I found you sooner. I just stumbled on your videos 4 days ago and have been binge-watching since. Science and logic matters. 😊
Stay strong 😊, your message is getting out there. Also, I have seen many, many Indian women either secularly or personally who have traction alopecia, thinning hairlines, and a loss of strength in their hair. One common thread is they all use henna. No shade to henna just didn't know the facts, and upon my observations, personal hair experience, and dryness, I agree with everything in this video! 💯
I’m so glad you’re able to hear me without offense and for that I thank you. Most professional cosmetologist of any race HATE henna because it’s like hell trying to get it out. It’s truly a fight, it’s a service I took off my books. It’s extremely hard to remove henna from the cortex. It sticks more than professional color and we don’t use it so there are no products made just to remove henna because we dont recommend it at all. Be careful and take your time. The color of their skin has nothing to do with their ability to color your hair. Go with the best in color in your area , it won’t be cheap but your hair won’t fall out.
Thank you, Cyn Doll!
Thank you for this information Cyndoll! I really have learned so much from this channel. I am curious though if there is a difference between bonds the henna makes with the protein in the hair and those made by bond builders in some of these products? Thank you Sis ❤
Thanks so much for watching welcome to the family. Bond reconstruction and protein are two different things. Watch this. Henna isn’t comparable to either.
ruclips.net/video/Zx4mOaydj4Q/видео.htmlsi=JPRZfdaVCRQqcifN
I used henna for a few years on my natural hair. Then i decided to have my hair professionally texterized whilst still using henna. Within months my hair started falling out in clumps. Henna could be to much for my low prorosity hair.
It shouldn’t be used on anyone’s hair period.❤️
Thank you love! You work so hard to get this information out to us. Now I know where my hair trouble is coming from.
You are so welcome
Hey Sis!!!
So how do we remove it Sis. I live in Canada so there aren't many stylist who know how to care for black women's hair and I'm a student here so I don't have much funds to pay hairdressers. So i started using henna and indigo to color my hair a few months ago, I've probably done it three times which I now reakize was a huge mistake because I have low porosity hair, the air in Canada is very drying and I wasn't moisturizing as much as i should. To make things worse, I was using a protein conditioner from Doo-gro. Disaster. My hair has become so dry and is breaking everywhere 😩. I've tried using baking soda, with lemon juice and head and shoulders shampoo to try to remove the henna, I dont know if that worked. Now I feel like cutting it all off and starting over. Oh and the indigo seeped into the skin on my face and neck and make me so dark and I don't know how to remove that either. Disaster palluza.
You don’t that’s why we tell you not to use it. Everything can’t be corrected that’s why we warn against it. You either wait for it to grow out, pay a master colorist for a couple removal sessions which is not cheap/easy or cut it out. It’s permanent. Please stop putting for ideas in your hair. There is nothing in the kitchen strong enough to remove it. You need a strong specific chemical to remove it safely and that’s still hard. Most colorist won’t do it because they don’t want to be held liable. Spread the word, Henna doesn’t go in your hair.
@IamCynDoll Thanks Sis. Wish i saw your video before I used it. I'm going to grow out the hair and do a chop of the part that still has it.
❤️❤️❤️❤️
So, would henna be beneficial to relaxed hair
I don’t recommend henna in any way for the hair. Use it at your own risk.
@@IamCynDollwhat is your opinion on other ayurvedic herbs for hair growth like:alma, aritha, neem, shikakai, bhringraj, ashwagandha, green tea, moringa, nettle ect I was considering buying them but I'm second guessing myself do they actually grow your hair like people claim, I know this is an old video but please answer 🙏 ❤
New subscriber here 🙋🏽♀️ I have no clue how you came across my feed, but I’m thanking the good Lord for you and the thoroughness of your content! Curious, are you a scientist? Remember I’m new.
Well, your knowledge is incredible and your hair is honestly…it’s just unbelievably, believable…you have the healthiest and most thick hair that I’ve ever seen (in MY opinion:))
Anyways …this middle aged woman right here just took my clippers out and did a big cop a couple months ago. I feel free 🙋🏽♀️!
You mentioned Henna and protein, I’ve never used henna before, however I have used coconut oil and/or products with coconut somewhere in them, on my natural hair. Oddly enough every time I put the smallest quantity or even the least concentrated amount of coconut oil in my hair, ****which also has protein in it, my small tight coily 4C natural strands literally start to fall out and wash down the drain. Even if I only keep it on my hair for 1-3 minutes.
Would henna have the same effect due to it also being highly protein rich? I thought anyone could use protein and it be beneficial, but even in small amounts my hair strands say “girl, hell nahhhh 😳😆….we letting you all the way loose from this scalp, goodbye, we letting go’ 😂😂 ( Signed - funny, until it’s not 😆) HELP?!?!
Hey love thanks so much for watching I appreciate you. This isn’t my hair it’s a wig. Yes I’m a Cosmetologist, Trichologist, Herbalist, Research scientist etc. Don’t look at the outward appearance focus on the science of the human body. That never changes.
I don’t subscribe to the 4c lingo etc. I need to know way more about you and your habits to answer that sorry.
What do you recommend to use to dye hair black or should I just give up dye if I want to continue thickening and growing my hair
You should see a professional for color if you already have scalp issues.
@@IamCynDollI have no scalp issues
If your hair is thinner than normal that’s a scalp issue. As a professional I don’t give chemical consults in the comment section.❤️
@@IamCynDoll
That's me 10 Hairs en mi cabeza😢
I love your videos ❤
I love you loving my videos!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤
What were the other protein treatments, recommended?
Hi Cyn, I used henna and indigo to dye my edges black for close to 2 years. I stopped about 2 years ago as the process was extremely long and tedious (4h of henna on the hair + 30 min of indigo afterwards) and I switched to professional hair colouring. The hairstylist never asked me if I had used henna before and just went ahead with the colouring (Back then I didn't know what I know about henna now thanks to your video's). I didn't experience any negative reaction with the henna that was left in my hair and I never had up to now. Is that normal?
I recently found out I have low porosity hair so I guess the damage should be worse but I haven't experienced it yet. Is it still going to come later?
Your very lucky. Thanks for sharing. Hair weathering takes 6 months to 25 years to set it.
@@IamCynDoll
Mine is here Omg😮😢
Hey Cyn, glad to see this.
Thanks so much for watching!!!!!
Thanks Cyn!
So informative!! Thanks for all you do 😘
Thanks even more for watching.
Preach
So let me get this right is it ok to use henna every couple of months as not to cause long term damage?
No henna is forever. I don’t recommend it.
So henna is bad for low porosity hair
Yes, I don’t recommend it period.
This video doesn't really distinguish between using Henna as a color treatment vs. a protein treatment. Different practices.
There is no difference you can’t use it as a color without using it as a protein treatment. It’s a permanent protein treatment that releases temporary pigmentation on the hair shaft and permanent protein blocks within the hair-shaft.
I explained you just didn’t understand. Watch again from that perspective.
@@IamCynDoll I understood, thank you. Ive been using it as a straight protein treatment, no dye release, no issues. Been doing so for 10 years. Perhaps HennaSooq can help you understand.
I treat people like you daily. They use henna for 30 years then one day protein overload sets in and their hair starts breaking and falling out. I understand it very well because I’m the one they call to fix the end result of what you swear by.
Thanks for watching and engaging.❤️
What type of henna do you use?
@IamCynDol
So true my years have arrived I officially have 10 hairs en mi cabeza😢
Hi I’m restructuring my haircare regime and I’ve used Henna for over 10 years now. For the last 5 years I found a Henna mix that worked for me.
What do you think of Reshma Henna semi-permanent hair color?
Ingredients:
Henna (Lawsonia Inermis), Sodiun Perborate, Tartrik Acid, p-Phenylenediamine, Cellulose gum, Magnesium Searate, Sodium Sulfate
I just bought my first bottles of Olaplex and I would like to dye my hair soon. Can I use this before using Olaplex 1 & 3?
I don’t recommend the use of henna in anyway. If you use it do so at your own risk.
@@IamCynDoll What hair dye do you recommend?
I only use professional hair color so I don’t give chemical recommendations online.
Is this your natural hair? Looks good either way.
Thanks so much? You answer a personal question first then I’ll go!❤️What’s your credit score?😂😂
@@IamCynDoll better than yours 😂
@@JC-vz9hz Yeah, Thanks for watching!
No. It's not her natural hair.
@@adrienneb1132 I figured. I wasn't trying to be rude. I think it looks cute. The fact this is a hair channel, I just wondered. Her response hit me as not nice. Thank you!!
Facts
How do you recover from years of henna treatments?
Video coming soon.❤️
Thank you for this information! I have relaxed hair and what color treatment can I use other than a rinse to cover gray hair ? the rinse never last on my edges.
No problem. Only permanent hair color 20 volume covers grey hair. Temporary hair color doesn’t penetrate the hair shaft it only coats it.
You are telling the truth
❤❤❤❤❤
From a formulation perspective, could the conditioning properties of henna and other ayurvedics be infused into some type of carrier, let's say an oil, so the protein overload effects could be offset?
No.
Thank you for sharing. Would cassia obovata be permanent as well? Do you know if it would also be a better option for low porosity hair?
Just use regular hair color. It does the same thing. Thanks for watching.❤
that is still a type of henna "Cassia obovata, also known as cassia italica, senna or neutral henna"
Thank you!
Hair fall is real using it with low Porosity hair I know
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh ok
