I had a camp on the ''island '' side of False River for 12 yrs., from 1970 - to 1982 -- what I consider the heyday of its fishing potential... and have since moved out of state -- but man, do I miss those experiences ! I could usually just walk the bank early in the morning and catch all the bass I wanted by fishing around the thick, prevalent coontail grass. I dream of the day that reality returns -- so I can return with it .
fish doctor Funny comment, but sad as well. Louisiana lags in its natural resource management. Here in Tx., the waters are monitered closely and maintained to the point of planting vegetation if necessary, and every lake is man-made. Louisiana on the other hand is blessed with natural waters but it seems they're left alone to survive on their own.

The only grass nowadays on False River is either on a jet ski or in a ski boat. You never want a drink of water till the well runs dry.
