It's no surprise that there was another Roger Rabbit short titled "Hare in my Soup" that was going to be shown in front of Toy Story (1995), but unfortunately got canceled when Disney and Amblin split up! not to mention that Tummy Trouble was shown in front of "Honey, I Shrunk the Kids", "Rollercoaster Rabbit" was shown in front of "Dick Tracy" and "Trail Mix Up" was shown in front of "A Far Off Place"!
The reason behind them needing Disney is because Disney has legal ownership of the original roger rabbit characters by 50% and amblin owns the other 50%. If they do much as wanna put Roger on a shirt someone from both companies has to agree to it.
I don't know whose idea was it to have one of the Roger Rabbit shorts play in front of Arachnophobia, a *Horror* movie of sorts, but need drug out to the streets and shot. But then again, this is the same company that put a Simpsons short in front of a PIXAR movie...
So Disney doesn't own Roger Rabbit and characters 100% then. Pity the studio didn't accept the director's script for the sequel all because they have no interest and say that "Jessica isn't a Disney princess." Chip n dale movie to me would be a pseudo sequel. Still very curious about it and I'll see it for my own sanity.
