    Lyrics:
Crimson lights the sky, the bird still asleep
Like a dream it shines, from heaven's safe keep
Childrens songs we sung, as soft as the breeze
Endless fields, our home, I long for those days
I call out these prayers to the sky, heavy with thought, see your face
I carry these memories inside, thoughts of a soul colored by love
See me grow wings and fly high, passions will die down below
I burn in a basin of fire, watchers look on as they dance in their merciless sky
    Watching me, watching you
Silent black, the dawn, and time tells its tale
Darkened blood, it flows, the forest receives
Look within the dark as deep as you dare
There inside you find destruction you seek
I call out these prayers to the sky, heavy with thought, see your face
I carry these memories inside, thoughts of a soul colored by love
See me grow wings and fly high, passions will die down below
I burn in a basin of fire, watchers look on as they dance in their merciless sky
    Watching me, watching you...watching me

Something I noticed recently is the parallels between this and ashes of dreams of replicant.
Both start with lyrics about the sky, birds, fields, and even children singing songs.
Weight of the world also has some parallels by saying the sky looks ominous, and how it's lyrics describe how exhausted 2b is.
But if feels far more hopeful which is fitting as it's the only game with a happy ending.
Fitting for a series about the gods attempt at punishing and ending humanity. The only ones to not meet a tragic end are artificial humans.

      Meadowlands vibrant with flowers;
Carefree the songs our children once sang
      Gilding our minutes and hours.
Clouds came and covered the sun,

Replicant got the same kind of ending as Automata. They survive their post credits and what happens from there the player doesn't get to see.
We know Replicants are all doomed to die out, but that's nothing sad because everyone dies one day anyways irl so their fates could be no different than our own.
Yoko taro didn't tell us how they lived or how long they lived after the ending so we don't known if they died peacefully or miserably.
Automata is the same except even more up in the air because there's no sequel to Automata yet. We have some post ending lore that does tell us what kind of happens after ending E, but alls we know is they survive. For how long is unknown.
So both games endings are "happy". But a yoko taro happy ending is more like a very bittersweet ending for most.
Drakengard is the one that just objectively ends horrifyingly.
You save your timeline but doom an entire other timeline just for doing battle briefly in one of its cities.
      It's fuuuucked.

I mean, idk about Voice of cards or Sinoalice but like the later NieR and Drakengard games are pretty dark, from NieR being a genocidal mass murderer that refuses to acknowledge the Shades are anything except mindless monsters, Zero being on a murder suicide mission, and the YoRHa members being disposable pieces of machinery. They may be visually more colorful and Automata is definitely a lot more hopeful than the previous games, but they're all still some of the darkest video game stories around.

This song of Furiae's exhaustion describes her unfiltered feelings.
Caim's tells his story and the true multitude of emotions behind his character.
The two siblings are very clear contrasts of each other and are very intriguing.
P.S: A comment said the horns in Caim's song sound like Dragons laughing. Considering the Dragons are actually the devolved versions of the Watchers, I would not be surprised if that was a literal assumption.

I have been thinking about the importance of music for the Watchers to use their power and how important music is for Inuart, to the point that's his Pact's price.
I wished there were videos dedicated to analysing this game's characters, such as the similarities between Inuart and Seere as artist/scholar and what makes Manah and Caim reflections of one another.
Because it would help me spread this theory. I'm starting to think Inuart may indeed have Intoner blood in him (don't know if it is Brother One, Five or Zero that is his ancestor). It could explain, if you take anything about the disasterous happy go spin-off seriously, why only he and Furiae could use the Seed to birth the New breed. Dragon DNA mixed with Intoner and Goddess material... Remember that in "Drakengard 1.3", it is implied Dragons might actually be the Watchers from "Drakengard 1". I think this is the New breed they were unknowingly strifing for.
The Watchers from "DoD 1" are VERY different from the ones from "3". They feel like black holes in baby form rather than destructive beasts of immense power. I think that's because they don't simply have Intoner power. They have dragon and Goddess power to back them up. That said, I don't think Inuart and Furiae died in the fortress. I think he her convinced her to bang, bringing the Watchers from "Drakengard 1.3" over.

Is there a flac/lossless version for this specific version of the song with angelus' dialogue in the beginning? I have the version without dialogue, but the gamerip with it adds a lot.

Interesting... There's a video in which my earpieces have the notes going out of different sides regarding this videos. And because my brain isn't used to hear them in that other order, the sound comes off different and as if it was in another order.
This truly is a chaotic sound.

Most people say this song gives them a sense of dread. But to be honest, when I hear this song, all I want to do is to Manah's dance, adding to the coreography a part in which I'm moving my arms and hands as if they're wings ready to take me to the skies.

After watching "Evangelion", I was afraid of losing my respect for "Drakengard", so I watched the first game again (but only route C and I used my imagination to turn routes B, D and E into a single one).
Best decision of my life, because it allowed me to gain a new appreciation for the characters, particularly Caim, that I failed to grasp the first time.
Now I understand that while he's a warrior and I'm a scholar, and even though I feel more compassion for children than he does, we might not be so different when it comes to how we feel towards our respective sisters and how we want the forces above us to see us.
I love my sisters too, but I don't see them much in my future, just like Caim doesn't see Furiae in his despite finding her adorable. And he wants God to remember him for all eternity as a warrior, just as I want to be remembered as someone who dances sloppily in the chaos while taking mental notes and commenting on everything like some sort of theatre play. My observations leaving everyone in awe due to how orderly chaotic they sound. We will both be remembered by our respective resilience.
This game is a masterpiece, the characters are masterpieces (with Caim, Angelus and Seere being relatable to me), and I apologize for saying I prefered "Evangelion" over "Drakengard". I prefer both in equal measure. It's a crime to put either below/above the other.

I recently finished an anime called "Lost Song"... And I just MUST recreate this scene, with all characters at their worst:
    -I'm just a boy. A scientist... What's this ? This dirt ?
Al (the protag's foster brother): ...No...
-Why do you want others happy so badly ? Why throw yourself to harm ? Forget Finis and stay. Forget Finis and stay ! Please, don't sing anymore. Please, embrace me...Rin.
    Rin: Al ?
-I can see into your heart.
    -No ! Stop it !
-Smoke won't shut me up. I'm no man ! Men use swords and ride horses ! I hate them ! I'm a four eyed weirdo ! Otherwise you wouldn't see me as your brother !
    Al: No, please...
-Please... I hate this world ! It needs destroying ! I'll never be Leobolt ! Please, embrace me Rin !
    -I'm sorry !
-So, you failed at playing the man of the team. You can't save the one you love, because she doesn't want to be saved. What now ?
I'm not sure he would commit suicide, since he's not a seal like Furiae...but since the world is ending in the anime, I guess he would want to go out on his terms.

  • @JabamiLain

Let me see if I can recreate it again, based around the sleepy girl. In her case however, it's more centered around self-harm, which she seems to develop later after repressing it for a long time:
-I'm sleepy. I'm always sleepy. The world is dangerous and makes me sleepy. I don't want to stay in it !
    -Allu (her older sister), I'm..
-Sleepy. Allu, why won't you put me to sleep forever ? Hold me in your arms, and then put my hoodie on. You won't have to look while you do it.
-Hey ! You stop making that stuff up about my sister !
-Allu...(The younger sister begins crying as she struggles to stay awake)
-I had Four eyes's dog bite me, but it did nothing. I still wanted to sleep to stop the fear. Do it Allu ! Cuddle me, put my hoodie on to cover my face, and then hold my neck !
-Stop it ! (She tries to punch Manah, but fails)
-Always beating softly. Always using everything as your drum, even me... Yet you never use your strength to put me at ease permanently. Do it !
    -Allu...
    -Huh !?
    -I'm...sorry.
-So, her mom isn't enough to keep her here anymore. What will you do now ?
In short, what that woman of "Evangelion" did. First, she chokes Manah. Then...well, not sure about suicide, since she doesn't learn of Rin's secret until it's too late, not to mention she's part of her orchestra, but something in her would certainly snap. Then again, snapping could have her forget that oath.

I can understand not liking it. But it is an intentional stylistic choice. Melody is very important to JP songs in creating the atmosphere you're supposed to feel from a song. WIth that in mind, the notes they used just make perfect sense and need no change.

Actually it's 3 Notes, take of the left part of your headphone. The right sound is doubled, the left one is singular.
It's on purpose cause your brain filters the second bump, unless you pay attention to it, which creates a more chaotic field. No clue if most hearers even know it, but it gives the song a doubled depth.
