The Wandering Towers, to me, is a modern classic family game and is one of the best family games in the last 10 years. You are one of the people give it its due.
Great list, Grant! Ra is an all-timer for me. Back when it was on your games of the month list, I told a friend of mine that your review of it was "I only played this for the first time this month, and I wish I'd been playing it for the past twenty years," and he agreed that he would feel the same way if he were only discovering it now. Thanks as always for your videos.
Cool list I love playing wandering towers and Ra. I am also pretty excited to try Last Light. White Castle felt pretty flat for me and I also partet with Mille Fiori.
Good stuff...The White Castle is solid. And I remember clearly the first time I played having to go the well in like round 2 and I was like, well I lost! LOL...and Red Cathedral is a gem too...they're putting out some solid games.
Great list! I want to try Wandering Towers maybe at Tantrum Con. I love the Star Wars Deck builder. One of my top games of the year. White Castle is on my shelF of shame. Your number 1 is also one of my new favs.
Great list Grant! A lot of crossover for my personal list from last year. Have you played Planet Unknown? I was wondering how you would compare that midweight polyomino tile laying game with Wild Tiled West? Both seem to have interesting mechanisms to limit tile selection.
I'm glad we share similar taste in games! Yes, I have played Planet Unknown and I love it a lot. I would say complexity wise, it's about the same weight as Wild Tiled West. There's more simultaneous play in Planet Unknown since everyone is drafting and placing at the same time. I think there's slightly more player interaction in Wild Tiled West though. I honestly am not sure which one I like more, they are both very high for me
@@GrantLyon Very helpful, thank you! I like polyominos as well but just don’t have a ton of room for many more games, and already ordered Planet Unknown. Good to know I didn’t make a huge mistake. :)
Good list Grant! Nice to see some different games on here. Still would like to try Wandering Towers and Wild Tile West. Glad you enjoyed Last Light. That is my top game of last year. :-D
Of the games you mentioned, the ones I’ve also played I’ll agree most are great. However, Wandering Towers … I played it once last month and I can safely say never again. I’ll agree with you that it’s simple, easy to teach, and everything else you said except that it’s good for beginners to the hobby. I found it to be a game of reactions. You are constantly at the mercy of what other players will do and of whether Lady Luck is on your side. I got steamrolled, along with a few other players, and we could do nothing but wait out the clock. We were just glad somebody won so we could move on.
Hi Grant! I have been a fan on Instagram for a long time! Do you have any tips on where I should look to buy Ra? I am not super familiar with buying things I can't find at the big stores...
Thanks for your response!! I wish I started watching your longer form videos here earlier!! The site unfortunately says out of print. I will keep searching!
Great video!!! I LOVE this channel!!!!!
Thank you so much!

Ra is so amazing! I really am sure I would have loved it at any point in my board game journey. Glad you love it too!

@@ImaginEric I think you're going to love it!
Great picks! I have played a couple of games including Mille Fiori (in 2023!). I just bought Wandering Towers for our family game night.
I hope you have a great time playing Wandering Towers! I think it's perfect for family game night

Thanks so much Rodger! That's awesome you're digging Last Light!

I’m sorry you had that experience. Every group I’ve played Wandering Towers with has loved it

Thanks for finding me over here from Instagram! I appreciate it. Ra was published by 25th Century Games so I would check their website!

Hey, Grant. It's your list, it's your rules. :) You don't need to rationalize whether something belongs on your list. Good list.
Haha thanks for saying that. I appreciate it! You're right, these are my favorite games of the year.
I don't have Wild Tiled West yet, but it might be the next game I buy. Looks like a lot of fun.
I really like it clearly! I hope you do too :)
Have you done any board game themed comedy 😊
Haha I do it at conventions all the time
Nice shirt! Also great choices for your top 10. They’re all bangers!
Thanks so much!
Beauty! 🎉
Thank you!
@@GrantLyon Just ordered Apiary! 😊
Oh man, Ra has been one of my favorite games for 20 uears but my group didn't like auction games, so i currently dont own it. 😥
Oh no! That's a bummer. The new production is so good too
Only 1s I've played are Ra, Star Wars dbg & Mille Fiori ...all gr8
Glad you like those!
I knew when I saw #2 that Earth would be #1, and was shocked when it wasn’t even in the Top 10.
Earth would be in my Top 20 but didn't make my Top 10. There's a lot of great games!
