About to start trapping, and this is very instructional. I think what I learned most is that there isn’t a right way, you do what works best for you. Thank you very much!
That's exactly right.. Everyone who told me that what I am doing won't work I kept on and bam caught my yotes. My advice is to listen to everyone and take something away from each video or conversation you have. And apply it to situation and that will make you an awesome trapper. Good luck and keep me posted on your first catches. Tight chains
Excellent location I would put a couple sets there. For flats I always compress everything on top leaving only the kill area soft don’t honestly know if it makes a difference just the way I was taught. Sometimes a little dried grass or leaves grated in the sifter add a little cami too. Good luck!!
Hey man I just found your channel I am a youth trapper and I just went to my first convention yesterday and I subbed to your channel I'm 12 keep it up and I would recommend to take and put the dog side of the traps and point it away from you
Thank you for your subscription. I appreciate it..I hope you burn them up this year...I learned EVERYTHING on catching yotes from youtube...I bet I watched every channel and took it and ran with it. Im by no means a yote slayer but if you have any questions feel free to ask away if I dont know someone may be able to answer. Let me know how you do...tight chains brother
I prefer those leather gloves too for protection...but after dealing with the smartest yotes in SC...I started using heavy nitrile (blue) gloves. I used to set cameras over my sets and noticed that even after wearing leather gloves they whiffed that human scent. At least get those rubber palmed gloves. Rubber lets NO scent out atall. Just some advice you may or may not want to try. Good vid.
That spot would get a gang of about 4-6 sets also i got some scar I got a couple years or longer ago and added sodium benzoate to it and it kept still to the day and it’s like a super strong gland lure
+KY Trapping Outdoors i have 5 within about 100 yards area. Plenty of sign was there just never hooked up with any. This year may be a little different.
Don't forget to gang set. That spot is good for at least 3 traps. Don't forget to use the prevailing wind to your advantage. Nice looking set though. Later
I put all I find in a jar and squirt coyote urine in the jar with all the scat I also add sodium benzoate to preserve it best i can and just pick some out with a stick almost like using a bait lol
Yeah it is... I started maybe 10-15 years ago and still buying more stuff lol.... just make it easy on yourself to check them... windshield observations if possible lol
+Trivit30 agreed. I have about 4400 acre lease and I am the only one out of 85 people who trap. Roads are plentiful and using my motorcycle to check or truck is usually the way I do it. I hope to have some great catches this upcoming year and good videos with that. Tight chains to you my friend.
Fun video. Only thing I'm confused about is placing the peat down to bed In? It's so fluffy i couldn't imagine bedding in it and getting a really solid bed.
Well believe it or not I can bed mine pretty tight in that peat.. So yes and no.. Im not gonna rely solely on peat this upcoming year though... However I will still use it it does help keep water from my traps too.
Yeah I've been talking to s few people and I have learned a few things I've been doing not necessarily wrong but not right so I'm gonna try a few different things this year. Hope it's a great year.. Tight chains brother
Good video loved it but if you use peet moss I wouldn't use polly fill if it gets wet and it freezes you have a ice cube under your pan had it happen to me after that I just put peet moss and just in the center hope this helps
You could use a wood bit to dig your bait hole and a hammer drill to drive your rods,,, your a lineman pretend your driving a ground rod,. I know you can get the tools at work
Well true, however I'm not a lineman I'm an electrician. There is a big difference. As far as the hammer drill goes I'll just keep pounding I'm pretty tough
I'm actually in Virginia Alleghany county. Which is like 45 minutes from Lewisburg. Good luck today and I hope you catch them all.. Tight chains brother I'll be setting soon as well.
New to trapping. Anyone tried canned dog food as bait? I'm using fresh frozen squirrels because I have a freezer full but canned dog food (or cat food) could be a change of pace.
couple things i would fix to make it easier for you ,but im sure by now you have fixed them . get a real driver , too much flex in that rod taking all the shock away wrap your tags and crimp on the chain with pliers

yep I keep some in a baggie in my freezer outside...thanks for watching and commenting
After you sift make sure you press the dirt around your pan one last time then sift again to camo... that always helps me alot...
+Trivit30 thank you for that tip, I will Definitely do that. Thanks for watching!!
Sometimes I forget to do it ... but it definitely helps
+Trivit30 that's good to know, I take any tips i can get. I'm still a greenhorn when it comes to trapping. I'll tell you though it's super addictive.

I didn't know that about the poly fill that's great advice and it does help me for sure
Some trappers take a bite of the scat and can tell you the size of the coyote. Then, again, we were drinking heavily that day...
That's the way the old trapper's use to do it the good ol days...
Say what?!!
Thanks in 2020

@@MountaineerOutdoors same mountains, just different sides. Good luck. I put out a combo of flatsets and dirt holes
What s the hammer called with the thing at the end u can dig with
It's called a trapping hammer or a 3-in1 trowel trapping hammer I bought it off of F&T website. Really handy.. Thanks for watching.
a trappers hammer
New to trapping. Anyone tried canned dog food as bait?
I'm using fresh frozen squirrels because I have a freezer full but canned dog food (or cat food) could be a change of pace.
I have always been told that stuff like that will bring in coons and possums. I have never tried it before, just what I have heard.

Well, I'm after them too with dps. I'll be using excess Halloween candy for a good while tho.🤠

Ahhh lol 😂 my bad funny I'm a little slow sometimes 😂... I agree with you on that.
youse a shorter stake
Hi good video. Be a good place for a shot of redfox or bobcat urine.
