-Two cameras were used during the Arnoldsons' trip: a professional photography camera and a one-time-use video camcorder. The inexpensive camcorder produced low-quality clips, which were further degraded by the stabilization effects added with Maize Movie Maker.

This was fantastically eerie and unnerving. Whether it's Lauren being so blissfully unaware of the absolute HORROR of the situation, or the silent ambient humming in the background, or the nonchalant conversation about "Canyoncrowns", as if they're a normal thing... It's magnificent as always.
That, and the moviemaker effects are hilarious.

I think at this point humanity has gotten used to all the weird stuff that happens in this universe. Lauren was easily able to look up info on the Canyon Crowns, so they’re probably common knowledge at this point.
Not to mention with the Suez Canal Crab, people were more focused on the fact that the government disturbed it than the existence of the crab itself.

bruh.. if you see old youtube of abandoned & cringy ghost hunter explorers would go over the place. people did crazy lenghts going over Area 51. mocking snipers, following trucks and alien hunting. now imagine the weird oddities became like a pokemon/scp of that world. people as always adapt and find ways to get used on what we consider terrifying, unsolved mysteries and government coverups happen. remember the random obelisks that was found on the grand canyons or romania one time? people were hunting such mysteries or anomalies as part of the deanverse life.

Some things I’d like to note:
It made me jump when it popped out, good job with that!
It’s actual appearance is horrifying! I was able to pause on the last few frames and I could make out a human nose and some lips, it’s very unsettling.
Also, I like how you changed the cheering to screaming at the end as your credits are shown.

Since no one mentioned it, I will-
The name “Canyongalan” (that was it, right? I can’t go back and look once I’m typing)- immediately made me think of the Malaysian or Indonesian monster known as the “penanggalan”, which has the head of a woman with just entrails hanging from it, as it flies around at night. It then soaks it’s intestines etc. in vinegar to shrink them enough to fit back into the rest of it’s body. Sounds pretty similar, yeah? Even the name- ending in “-galan”, and the vinegar... I really enjoyed this entry in the series- the whole thing has been great!

There's a Maya in the Lincoln looker video, and she shares the same last name as Virginia: Arnoldson. This Maya could be the Maya from the Lincoln looker mythos, or she could not, who knows

This could be something you have from birth, but it could also be a virus or illness, so it's totally possible that she got it on her adulthood after the LincolnLooker incident.
Seeing as the Lincoln lookers are turned into monsters, and Maya was one for 2 weeks, maybe that short exposure was enough to turn her into a canyon crown!
@@saucevc8353 I believe the canyonggalan can only be made by beheading someone with the giza glass. According to GizaGuardian, parts that gets cut off by giza glass gets huge but still functional, and the temporary remedy to become small is by using vinegar.
Maya is someone that got “terminated” by the freedom statue for getting too close to the truth (according to FreedomFaller), there must be a reason she is mistakenly being kept as a lincoln looker in the first place.

The canyon crowns are always depicted as just being large heads. The stuff about shrinking into its body was something the kids' father made up to make them sound more like a harmless animal so the kids wouldn't realize the danger they were in. The canyon crowns are just severed heads that inflate and shrink with vinegar.
Where do you get the beheaded part from. Maybe I'm missing sth but I can't seem to see the connection of Maya and freedom (the whole Giza glass stuff as well)
@@disappointment953 I forget which video it was, but it was discussing the first time Americans got their hands on the glass. One guy slipped and accidentally beheaded himself, and his head instantly started to mutate.

I really like the way this video vaguely taps into the analogue horror genre with its cheery-yet-unsettling found footage vibe but instead of taking advantage of the overused VHS format it is switched with old school youtube, thus giving it a completely new definition and feel.
Imagine a whole web series made this way, that would’ve been mental (if it’s already been done please give me a name).

When i said "Canyon Crown" I was referring to the one in the video. Titled "Canyon Crown"
I wasn't referring to Freedom slicing off Maya's head. There's a video where you hear Maya scream "No" amongst other things as Freedom finally catches up with her.
I was commenting on the noise the Canyon Crown-in This video, Titled Canyon Crown- sort of sounds like ifs repeating over and over again the final words Maya said before Freedom beheaded her. And we know what happens to the heads when their cut with Freedom's sword. They don't die. They become something else.

I think the most eerie part about this video is how casually the editor of the video explains the Canyongalan, like it’s just some sort of rare animal. “So yeah, there’s basically this huge floating head that uses vinegar to fit itself into it’s body. Kinda cool ngl”
This was by far the most creepy video out of this series. Just switching from a sense of security of a lovely family trip where nothing can go wrong to a dead silent moment where you are looking at a mysterious unknown thing. This difference in emotion is what gets me in the horror feels, great job

If I may add my two cents to what's happening: It seems to me that we've been given a glimpse into a concurrently existing alternate universe. I can't decide whether the trees are a benevolent link and alien-like invaders are causing problems or if the trees are the evil themselves.
I love how the videos from the alternate universe show a populace who has grown so accustomed to living with these strange events, that they barely bat an eye!!
Even the Grand Canyon isn't safe from the “Angel”.
Actually, it was the freedom statue that created the canyoncrowns, and the angel is the amalgamated soldiers who sacrificed themselves to destroy the airships.

Ironically I looked at this video thinking it was actually pretty funny but then after I was done with it I think I was absolutely mortified and decided that this was the most horrifying video of the series I watched so far, if not the most horrifying video I've seen thus far. The fact that I realized that I was looking at a disfigured human sent a shock throughout my body. I was looking up images and having a deconstruction of what was going on in this video and I just got even more disgusted.
Fun note the clapping and cheering at the end turned into the crown screaming audio, yknow the ones for when a monster is eating the city

Alright so here's what we know so far: canyon crowns are victims of the giza guardians of freedom that have been decapitated. When the British guy slipped and was decapitated it said his head started to swell, which is a side effect of the glass. The victims were offered a solution labeled "vinegar" which explains the whole vinegar makes head shrink thing
The person who made this video and the person who made the flesh pit national park should get together they seem like they belong in the same universe
I really love this one. It's really creepy, but has these humorous moments which actually made me laugh! Kinda reminds me of Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark!
That shot was masterfully edited. The amount of well timed moments coming out of a series that I would not expect to have is amazing. Better than a jump scare in any movie.

I love how the camera quality is garbage, makes it look even better.
Obviously the 'Canyonggalan' name is a reference to the 'Penanggalan' of Malay ghost myths. ('Tanggal' means something like 'to remove'). Penanggalan are floating disembodied heads with the organs still attached. These are the manifestations of human witches (thus all Penanggalan are women-) who are entirely normal until nightfall.
To become penanggal, women perform a ritual and meditate in a bath of vinegar, submerged up to their head. Then at nightfall they can detach their head (with the visceral organs attached still-) from their body and fly through the air to attack children and pregnant women for their blood. After they are finished, they soak in vinegar to allow their organs to slip back into their bodies. Even when they are normal women, in the daytime, you can smell the faint odor of vinegar.
