Hi Vishvanath, Great question! If we say two lines AB and PQ (say) are equal, we "mean" their "lengths" are equal. When we say two angles - angle A and angle P are equal, we "mean" the measure of angle A and angle P are equal. In case of triangles, each triangle has 3 sides and 3 angles. So, when we say that 2 triangles ABC and PQR (say) are equal or congruent, what do we really mean? Which side is equal to which side and which angle is equal to which angle? We mean that - AB = PQ (we DO NOT mean AB = QR or PR), BC = QR (we DO NOT mean BC = PQ or PR) and AC = PR (we DO NOT mean AC = PQ or QR). Also, we mean that angle A = angle P (not angle Q or R), angle B = angle Q (not angle P or R) and angle C = angle R (not angle P and Q). In order words, if we take any one side in first triangle, there is ONLY one side in the second triangle that "corresponds to" or "relates to" that side in first triangle. Same is true for each angle in the first triangle. Its a long explanation but I hope that it helps! Cheers,
