Dream Catcher Cake Topper Tutorial with gumpaste feathers

- Hi and welcome back to my kitchen. For this weeks cake decorating video tutorial I will be showing you how I made this fun dream catcher cake topper.
I show you step by step how I made the main part of the dreamcatcher with this floral design in the center. Plus how to make these gumpaste feathers without a mould. This is a great tutorial for beginners if you are looking for a beautiful cake topper. It would be perfect to add to birthday cakes, or a wedding cake.

As one with the Anishinabeg Tribe, I just have to say, this is absolutely brilliant! Beautifully executed.
The dream catcher comes from our tribe, most commonly known as the Ojibwe, or even known as the Chippewa or Ojibwa. To us, we are the Anishinabeg.
This would make a great cake for our Pow-Wow raffle July 12-14th. Sadly, I’ve never worked with fondant, so maybe next year. I do know this would make a great hit and with our many artists, I know they would copy and put their own magnificent touches to it. If I could get one done and presented at the Pow-Wow, I have a feeling a number of families will take these ideas home with them, which is what it is all about, sharing.
This really is a beautiful cake, and I’m so happy you took the time to show us how you created this from your dream.

Can we use powdered colors as tints of those feathers?
Hi Hafsa, Yes it was powdered colours that I used on the feathers and just built up the colour with a fluffy paint brush.
