Hi, Please answer these questions. Which hotel/resort did you take in Sonmarg?. And what was the average price of rooms there? Actually I am planning to stay one night either at Sonamarg or Gulmarg. And I am finding sonmarg to be a better place, but I have a feeling that accommodation places would be less and costly in Sonmarg. And same thing for number of places to eat food. Is what I am thinking, 'true' as per your knowledge?
Hi Sparsh, in Sonmarg we stayed at Villa Himalaya, this is 5-6 KMs before Sonmarg and situated in a village. But very beautiful and peaceful location, no hustle bustle of the road. It costed me 6000/night for stay. We opted for food from hotel only as there were not many options outside. however if you don't like secluded hotels/places, you can choose to stay in main market Sonmarg also where you will find cheaper hotels and shops food joints etc nearby. An average hotel in main market Sonamarg should cost 3-4k/night If you're planning to visit Kashmir in winters then don't go to Sonmarg as most of the roads are blocked there in winters. Gulmarg certainly has more options available as compared to Sonmarg. If you go to Sonmarg make sure you look for hotels which are near the market because that's the perfect location there and also the main Road in Gulmarg is not much crowded or noisy.
If you stay at Srinagar then only 1 possible, I was staying at Sonmarg so did both on the same day. Thajiwas will take time as it's either trek or horse ride, so I would suggest you go to Zero point in a cab from Sonmarg
