Call it the redemption of charmander. He didnt know empathy, acted like a jerk and killed Pablo. The caterpie revenge for a reason and by brainwashing Squirtle he has his reason. An eye for and eye, in caterpies eye he himself is not the villain. But charmander has changed, learnt empathy and actually started to care for Squirtle for real, but that tbh, is not a reason for automatic forgiveness. This is the perfect manifestation of how hate will only bring forth more hate.

The saddest part for me is how Charmander actually tried to change, and he did change. It was difficult for him, but he managed because he cared that much for his friends. He showed so much empathy and care in this episode, and that's what got him killed in the end.
I think it goes to show that even if you change, there are still consequences for your actions from the old you.

@ssp_c Graphics and animation were nice, but the cliffhanger just makes my blood boil after seeing the character twist of squirtle, Shippidge really did a good job of making people see him as the notorious procrastinator , you just have to admit, Seeing the ending had to make you have a bad taste in your mouth knowing you will wait 1-2 years for a professional team that have 2 income revenues, (patreon,youtube) and make low quality, budget storylines, other than that it's great.
To be honest, Charmander in the beginning had a point, and later on he changed that point. He changed his mind, and learnt why his opinion wasn’t the greatest. Yet, even in the beginning, my man had a point. It was for survival, and it was wrong, but in his eyes, it was the best way to do things, since the world was actually quite corrupt. So, when corruption is all around, you’ve gotta fight for survival, and win. He did treat his friends badly, yet changed later to actually be kind. No matter if it was too late, and he ended up dead, he risked his life to save a friend. He warned the Caterpies if they didn’t give up Squirtle, or if they just backed away from the fight, then they’d all die. Charmander honestly had a point.
And Squirtles character flaw is that he never listens which is why when charmander was about to die one of the last things he said was “I just-“ which I think he was going to say he just wanted to save him which is kind of sad because had squirtle listened he might of had a change of heart and saved him.

The saddest part about charmander dying is that he did change, he offered to spare everyone if they gave him back squirtle. He even tried to say “all I wanted was to” and he was probably gonna say “save you”or something like that but squirtle just didn’t want to listen and thought that he was killing them only to evolve. In episode 10, we see that caterpie was defeated and left with nearly nothing, when she killed charmander, she became no better than him

Just a comment for a huge THANK YOU to Shippidge for producing this serie and keeping such quality all along ! Also the fact he's settled in Blender 2.8 and already got the models made now (along with the fact episode 9 was three times the lenght of episode 6) the next one's production should be smoother :)
What I really like about this series is that there isn’t a clear “good side” and “bad side”. It’s something that’s very hard to pull off when writing a story. I mean Charmander is obviously the protagonist, but he is villainized in a somewhat realistic way.
The line of plot twists is being jumped over by this every second
In a way but that's for character development. Compare Charmander here than in episode 2 and you notice he's become more and more civil trying to find Squirtle. He slowly starts to learn the value of friendship and teamwork and very slowly is learning to be a good leader. There's this one quote, "A real leader stands with their followers, not just ordering them." -unknown. I bet once he understands all 3 of those, good karma will come his way and he'll finally get his wish of evolution.
It's basically the pokémon version of attack on titan.

I second this! It's so well-written.
Watching this from start to current day has been a real treat. Not only has the animation improved so much but the audio quality too. The voices are becoming their own characters, with their own feelings and it really became apparent here. I’m so glad to see starter squad grow from the silly 2 minute episodes to something both surreal and capable of evoking some genuine emotional reactions in people. You are really making good use of that Patreon and it shows! I’m really happy to see the effort and love that goes into these

I expected charmeleon this episode because of all the killing charmander did
But honestly for real though.
Charmander, at this point in time should at the very least be level 21.
If he started at level 7 which is when he gets a fire move, he's killed. At least 150 caterpie which at level 3 give 36 exp.
Most of these trained however, meaning theyre at most level 6, which give 54 exp.
So all in all, Charmander has killed at least 150 caterpie, kinda defeated a weedle, squirtle once, bulbasaur, that pidgeotto, a weepinbell (however you spell that) etc
The fact he hasn't evolved yet is insane.
The probs will evolve next episode.. To beat the catepie (how ever you spell it) thats why it ended.. Maybe
