I took George Reedy's grad class about politics and public communications when he taught at Marquette Univ. in 1990s. Obviously a very smart man. Unfortunately, all around him were ignoring his problem with forgetfulness, would repeat entire lectures/parts of lectures, give same answers twice/more to students. Our class had about 10 students. A couple/few complained to Marquette leadership who didn't know what to do, I guess. Marquette University leadership didn't have the courage to approach Mr Reedy, sit in on our classes. I feel fortunate to have met Mr Reedy. But, was so very sad to have met him at that point in his life. But, even with decreasing mental capacity, his brilliant mind still shined.
Reedy was great in the LBJ documentary, one of the few who stuck out by his frank, intelligent assessments. Brilliant minds often go haywire when they get older or maybe he was in terrible physical shape idk.
Glad you shared that. Reedy gives some of the most humorous quotes about LBJ in Robert A. Caro's books about him, so I had to see/listen to the man myself. And indeed, he must have been a great interviewee for herr Caro!
Johnson tried to keep the brightest staffers. He told Kennedy holdovers that he needed them worse than Jack. I know Reedy has suffered insults from Johnson like weight shaming
RustedTelevisione thank you for watching and for your comment. I could never sell the series this was supposed to be a part of so finally decided to share on RUclips.
Johnson insulted Reedy sometimes. Idk why. One day he asked him "Is that as fast as your fat little legs will carry you.". We had been provoking North Vietnam for a while running fast boats well into their territorial waters. LBJ knew before he took office that "that renegade intelligence outfit" CIA had been planning war since the French left and the military-industrial complex was gonna get their war. He sold his Bell Helicopter stock right after he was sworn in. He needed Tonkin like FDR needed Pearl Harbor. Years later, we found out that much of our forces' weaponry from the WWII Pacific theater had been stashed somewhere out there to plan another money-making conflict.

This is simply a brilliant commentary by an obviously brilliant man. Well done George Reedy.

King Rose Archives what was the project you were planning? Are all these incredible videos you’ve posted part of the project? Amazing history.

This guy is a Johnson blame deflector. Trying to defend a blatant error of one man, the hawk in the Whitehouse.
