A really beautifully haunting tune-- one of my favorites of theirs. The 60s and 70s had such an embarrassment of riches when it came to classic rock artists.
Take A Pebble. It'll be an experience you'll remember, promise. These were classically trained musicians. It's a little longer, but give it a listen, you won't be sorry.
Another 📻 memory of baking with my Nana on the weekends! 😊 I learned to 🧶 knit & crochet to these sounds coming from the radio on top of her fridge in the Bronx! 🐰
They will definitely take you to another place ,as the look on your face just showed. Saw them at the Aragon Ballroom,Greg Lake might have one of the best voices ever. Strange, when I saw Jimi Hendrix in '68 the opening band was The Soft Machine with Keith Emerson.
In contrast to the otherwise often somewhat "overloaded" songs from ELP (which I also love), Greg Lake also liked to write "simpler" songs, which were then arranged with great attention to detail.
ELP are a great prog band from the 70's. Each of their albums would include a Greg Lake ballad to break-up the heavy prog songs. The result for each album was a real roller coaster of sounds, moods, genres and styles. For this song Greg plays guitar and sings. But even this ballad is not your normal run of the mill song it has a haunting tone and is usual. More ELP please go for doing whole sides of the album to get some idea of the journey ELP is taking you on. Great reaction, cheers,
Yes I was waitin for you to do this awesome piece!!!!!! Goodness you gotta do fanfare of the command man..... they do a video practicing before concert ohh you just wait ✋ 🤟🎶
You said you want to know some other great bands unique and unique to your previously played songs. Brian Augers Oblivion Express has an album called “Straight Ahead” it is good top to bottom. Start on side with “Staight Ahead “ title song, then “ Change”, and “Forever You’ll Stay in My Heart” You’ll love it, and so will your fans.
@@johncalvo1743 no overdubs or stand-ins, when Greg was playing guitar and bass was needed Keith would just fill in with the keys. So they couldn't play multi-tracked guitar and bass guitar songs live exactly like the studio versions.
I'm beyond broke. Major medical debt. I can't contribute financially, as much as I would like to. Can you please react to 'Under The Milky Way' by The Church, when u get a chance? Thank you John!
Their albums sounded pristine .
And Gregs vocals perfection.
I've loved ELP since the debut of their 1st album in 1971. I love Greg Lake's voice; it was so beautiful.

Beautiful classic. More master musicians pushing the 70s rock envelope.
My favorite ELP song, thank you !
your the best i'm glad you liked them
Next one should be Knife Edge - it is one of their best!
Man I used to get so stoned and listen to this.

My favorite piece to play on acoustic guitar and yes the opening is very similar to roundabout.
Here's some trivia for you: Lake offered From the Beginning for Court of the Crimson King, but Fripp didn't think it fit. So Lake's song came first.
I'm 65, a musician and play this one too.
Beautiful! fIRE🔥🔥🔥🔥❤️

And quite often a light hearted track. Benny the Bouncer, The Sheriff, etc.

Dude. Emerson Lake and Palmer live Montreux jazz festival 1997 Tarkus or Pictures at an Exhibition ✌🏼❤️🇺🇦
Lake was a guitarist, but when he joined ELP he switched (mainly) to bass.
Hello Son! Love You 💗
There is a movie "Crossing The Bridge" from 1991 that uses this as the theme song even though the track was already 19 years old at the time.
Greg lake normally played a Gibson Jumbo acoustic sometimes a 12 string version
perhaps " knife edge" or "pebble" from the first elp record?
Nice!

It didn't even start out like roundabout
Was Lake playing the bass here also?
Yes.
All guitar and bass guitar lines are Greg Lake in everything ELP did.
@@harryhager4128 Cool. How did they pull it off in concert? Did they have a stand-in or did they use overdubs?
@@johncalvo1743 Neither. Lake usually played his acoustic pieces alone live.

It amuses me how Americans pronounce the "L" in Palmer.
