Finally! My favorite ELP song! I follow several reaction channels and many have already reacted to ELP, but never to this song. And you right, that's the word: "Hauntingly" beautiful!
That was Greg Lake on vocals. The versatility of ELP attests to their brilliance. Other similar compositions are “Lucky Man”, “From the Beginning” and “Just take a Pebble”. Thanks for a great review!
Last time i saw ELP. was at Bell center in Montreal. I think it was 1998 or 99 ! lol ! There was 2 bands that night ! ELP. was first, then,....🥴😎 Deep Purple ! ya !
Greg Lake had one of the best voices of his time imo. You should listen to their song "Pirates" , it is truly epic and Greg's voice shines on that as well as Keith on keyboards and Carl on drums. A must listen ELP tune it will take you on a voyage!
Every Emerson Lake and Palmer record included a beautiful ballad written and sung by Greg Lake. The ballads weren't representative of the music of ELP, which was usually bombastic with virtuoso playing. But the albums always had Greg singing one of his exquisite songs, kind of a diversionary moment. Try reacting to From the Beginning (Trilogy), Still ... You turn Me On (Brain Salad Surgery), or Lucky Man (debut record), which are other examples of Lake's extraordinary creations.
Hey its Billy again, sorry to be a pain but I've only just found the Greg Lake song I was on about on RUclips, its the one I said was Greg Lake doing Epitaph on his own without any backing from anyone, it's on RUclips as I said and says in the description (King crimson - Epitaph- Isolated Vocal 2019 Mix,),so you can actually use it as a response track on your reactions channel, hope you do watch and react to it, anyway you take care keep up the great work English Billy.
One of ELP's best. The overall mood (to me) brings to mind strolling down a darken Paris street, at night, and in the rain. The different tunes eminate from separate cafes. The songs are different but sound similar. I can imagine this as foreground music on a 50's Film Noir movie. I particularly liked when the twelve string guitar accompanied with a Moog synthesizer morphed into a slightly different tune played on a Stomach-Steinway (accordion) accompanied by a Harpsichord.
Greg has a gorgeous voice. You have to do "Take a Pebble". It's like 4 different songs and 3 genres in one song. It's amazing. The best version is Zurick 1970.❤ Love your reactions. ❤
Hey great reaction as usual to ELP, I'm Billy from England 67year old rock fan since I was 12/13,ELP were 1st band I really got into,if you like this may I suggest you listen to (just take a Peble) from there 1st album,a true master piece in every possible way, from the slow gentle start to the classical Emerson piano section then a nutty bit then back to classical ends with slow bit, also on the Internet you can find a amazing track by Greg Lake doing a piece by King crimson called (epitaph) but this particular piece is just Greg Lake with no backing from anyone else, just his voice, absolutely amazing piece of music trust me, just type Greg Lake vocals only epitaph, it's on their somewhere, anyway you take care keep up the great work English Billy
Before ELP Keyboard player Keith Emerson fronted a band called the Nice. Their first album has a wonderfull prog rock version of "America" adapted from West Side Story and cover of Bob Dylan's She Belongs to Me. Harri, check out those selections!
Greg put out solo albums in 1981 and 1984 with Gary Moore playing guitar. They are excellent “Let Me Love You Once”, “Haunted”, “It Hurts”, “I Don’t Know Why I Still Love You”, and “Nuclear Attack” are all excellent tunes.
Thank You, Harri! Greg Lake's singularly great melancholy song regarding the time he lived in Paris (he makes that guitar part seem easy), accompanied here by Emerson and Palmer, and the Reverb is just perfect. You'll recognize him also on LUCKY MAN, and FROM THE BEGINNING.
Thank you for your wonderful reaction Harri Yes I agree this song is hauntingly beautiful Greg Lake is the singer and Greg is known for his incredible vocals and he wrote this one Wishing you and your family a Joyous New Year Love And Music Always 🎶 💜🎵🎶🥂
Yes, an awesome song Harry you need to look at the Live version 1977 Montreal See keith Emerson play the accordion Just an awesome song with the awesome band
C’est la vie means thats life in french ❤ Decorated with the hamonica, gives it a very french touch 🤔😊😇 Just love it 🤩🤩🤩 Thank you Harri and Miss Blondie 🥰💝💖
As a few people have said in the comments ,it's "Greg Lake" on Vocals. Such a brilliant back catalogue with ELP and King Crimson. But the only thing most folk will know him for is his Christmas Song "I believe in Father Christmas "
Although a big ELP fan I always thought this song to be to much theatrical or to emotional . But listening it now again I think it has something majestical and unique about it even for ELP standards.
Greg Lake's voice is enchanting.
It's Greg Lake, listen to Still You Turn Me On and From The Beginning.
And also "Lend your love to me tonight", is stunning...
Greg Lake
Give "Closer to Believing" a chance. This is my favorite song over all.
And the live version is even better.
Indeed, and I still remember seeing the live performance after all these years
If you want to hear a simlar song also sung by Greg Lake, listen to King Crimson's song "Epitaph".
Decades of listening has only increased how much I like this tune.
❤❤❤one of my top 10 lifetime songs❤❤❤
Finally! My favorite ELP song! I follow several reaction channels and many have already reacted to ELP, but never to this song. And you right, that's the word: "Hauntingly" beautiful!
When dropped in 1977, C'est la vie was by far my favorite song, still is so amazing after decades !!!
ELP did this song with the orchestra in Montreal at the Olympic Stadium and 70,000 people ...fans and I were singing along...a very moving moment
This just shows how brilliant they were. They didn't just have one formula that they did over and over. They were all so creative. ❤ Carl still is😊.
ELP unique and brilliant.
The band I loved in grade 12.
The best male voice I know !!!
That was Greg Lake on vocals. The versatility of ELP attests to their brilliance. Other similar compositions are “Lucky Man”, “From the Beginning” and “Just take a Pebble”. Thanks for a great review!
Thanks Harri I hadn't heard this song in over 40 years and it brought back all sorts of memories. I even remembered most of the words.
Last time i saw ELP. was at Bell center in Montreal. I think it was 1998 or 99 ! lol ! There was 2 bands that night ! ELP. was first, then,....🥴😎 Deep Purple ! ya !
I've loved this song since the 70s!
Along with Lucky Man and From the Beginning!!!
You Sir have great taste in music since the 70s
🎵✌️🎶
If you haven't reacted to Greg's other touching song, it's From The Beginning.
I just love EL&P and this is one beautiful song by them, thank you Miss. B and Harri.
Glad you enjoyed it Cynthia

Actually it is a solo song of the late Greg Lake in 1977. I purchased this album 1977, WORKS, it was one of the best ot that year !!! Awesome.
Greg Lake always had haunting vocals and was always my favorite writer.
I find Greg's vocals gives me chills at times. He sings straight from heart.
@@missblondie2393 He's a realist and romantic simultaneously. So sad he passed last year.
@@nancywest1926 yes a perfect way to describe him
RIP Legend 🙏💜
Another Greg gem off this album is "Closer to Believing."
Same singer for this song & all others in their career....and the first two King Crimson albums, the brilliant Greg Lake!
What a beautiful masterpiece
Oh I agree
Musical mastery at the highest level. I highly recommend reading Greg Lake's autobiography, titled "Lucky Man."
That is the voice of Greg Lake. This beautiful “soft” ballad just speaks to the versatility of Greg Lake and ELP. Nice review. Thanks!
That Voice.
It's beautiful.

Also, If you didnt know Greg Lake was in the King Crimsons first 3 Albums I believe.
The first 2 plus some songs only played live before he left that were later released.
C’est la vie, Lucky Man, Still You Turn Me on etc.. all very typical Greg Lake compositions.
They were on another plane compared to everyone else in rock music!

Loved Greg's voice. Especially always sang with his English accent.

Summer of 77 ELP played Soldier Field Chicago and performed this new song with a full orchestra & Keith Emerson on accordion.
Love his solo album, so many great tracks.

Sounds more like a concertina.
I think it’s an accordion like what Keith uses when they play it live
It is an accordion used by Keith Emerson @@andrewk5710
Glad you enjoyed it A
It's a beautiful song and actually my favorite or top 3 by ELP
Wishing you a Happy New Year

srsly my fave song from them and from this album, Works Vol 1. I wore it out playing it.
Classic Greg Lake. There is no other.

Great choice... I often recommend this tune.
Not ELP, it's Greg's song
Not quite a ELP song. Greg Lake solo project.
