I saw ELP at the Olympic Stadium in Montreal, which at the time was the 2nd largest French speaking city in the world. When they played this song..70000 people sang along....it was just amazing!

I was fortunate enough to see ELP several times live, the first time in November of 1977 and I'll always remember Greg Lake playing this with Keith Emerson joining in with the accordion for that wonderfully evocative solo. Great memory, thanks for reacting to this!

Try "Closer to Believing" from the same Works Volume 1 album. That is a stunningly beautiful song too!
The lyrics are amazing. My favourite line is "And with the driftwood of acquaintance, Light the fire to love once more…"

I'm super excited that you are doing ELP. I love them so much. This song is gorgeous. You can really hear Gregs gorgeous tone. You have to hear "Still, You Turn Me On" and "Take A Pebble."

Love this progressive rock supergroup from the 70's. They had a unique sound that included classical music with jazz & symphonic rock elements. Also loved their use of the Hammond organ, Moog synthesizer & piano. Their sound is like no other band. They had a lot of great songs such as "Lucky Man", "From The Beginning", "Jerusalem", "The Barbarian", "Tarkus", “Still… You Turn Me On”, "Hoedown" etc. One of my favorite songs by them is "Fanfare For The Common Man" - Live at Olympic Stadium, Montreal in 1977. Sadly both Keith Emerson & Greg Lake died in 2016, leaving only Carl Palmer.

Hi Dominika and Andrei!! When you do his song, "Still, you turn me on", definitely pick the performance from California Jam in 1974. It is the best thing I've seen Greg Lake do. He plays acoustic guitar, sings and is chewing gum. It's the best. 🎉

I just saw Carl Palmer in concert on July 29th. He used isolated audio and video from a concert filmed at the Royal Albert Hall in October 1992. With advancements in digital enhancement both Emerson and Lake looked and sounded like they were on stage with Carl. His two touring musicians were also top notch and added great new elements to the show. And Carl Palmer is in amazing shape. He looks 54 rather than 74.

This song and others like it (those mentioned in other comments and “Lucky Man”) attest to the incredible versatility of this progressive rock band. They were indeed a supergroup of the 70’s and 80’s. Grew up with them and other groups like “Yes”. Sorry to throw out the old cliche but “they just don’t make ‘em like that anymore”. Very fortunate to have experienced this music and witness live many great performances by this group and others of the era. Thanks for a great review! Loved it!

Personally, I think this a beautiful love song, and it is performed masterfully. The musical composition is top-notch, and it leaves the listener reminiscent and relaxed, and it tends to make your heart feel a bit heavy. You can hear the touches of Paris in parts of the melody. Thank you so much for this choice (I truly love the reactions)

Scorpions,,,, Judas Priest,,,, UFO,,, BLACK SABBATH and RUSH , etc. Didn't care for this song then. Might have to reintroduce myself or reacquaint!!?? Nice Job you two! Peace 🕊️☮️♾️😎

A beautiful song that I have not given enough time to. I love the Works album, but I don't always make it to the Greg Lake side. Three of the sides feature either Emerson, Lake or Palmer, and then, side four features two songs - Aaron Copeland's "Fanfare for the Common Man" and "Pirates." I highly recommend you dive into "Pirates" as an epic tale.
