Commercial recordings seldom prepared us for hearing Pollini live. For one thing, DG’s engineers made him sound far steelier than even the worst halls (I heard him once at Avery Fischer in the ‘70s, before it was renovated). And live as here he was so much more relaxed and expansive. Can’t thank you enough for sharing this.
