You should also account in points per night. Because VGF might be low due to the low dues. But the points per night is more than double for OKW or SSR for the same size room.
Just got direct points at Riviera and couldn’t be more excited! You guys aren’t wrong, the incentives were finally good enough that we pulled the trigger and I couldn’t be more thrilled with vacationing into my 70s! 😂
BLT was my number one suggestion for value and SAP even but copper creek basically tied in my analysis. The contract length is selling point for younger families where Saratoga would be suggested for older families. BLT fits in the middle. But 11 months at BLT and Copper actually have value.
My biggest takeaway from this episode is that owning a DIRECT DVC contract is going to a very valuable commodity as the years pass & Disney Vacation Club expands. However you own is up to you but I’m am glad I got in direct when I did with each passing year. Great show as always.
We have 400 points from when the VGF was on sale. We purchased there because it was on sale, and we live here so we can go to whatever is open. We purchased 60 add on points for Fort Wilderness because we Love it there, we stay all the time. If the maintenance wasn’t so high I would buy multiple contracts
We purchased BCV resale in the last several years and the 2042 didn't matter to us at all. Two main reasons why- walking distance to two parks (not dealing with buses) and having aging parents. With our parents getting older (late 70s) it's harder for them to travel anywhere, however Disney makes it easier for them to come with us on trips. BCV allows them to not have to deal with ECVs on buses and it's close enough to two parks that they can easily get back to the hotel without spending hours taking the time consuming Disney transportation. We actually now park hop between HS and Epcot when we never used to.
Boardwalk is our granddaughter's favorite resort. Old Key West 1997. If not for dues I may buy Beach Club bc it is hard to book. We stayed there a few years ago. ⛱️ Like Bay Lake Tower too. Location. 🏰 😊
Great Show - I love you discussed price per point - maybe you'll get to it, but what about discussing annual dues? Mine have doubled at Saratoga since 2010! I am interested in buying another contact at Saratoga so I'll be sure to check out the resale store.
Another Layer to "think" about are the 6 resorts which expire in 2042. Most new buyers will go thru this experience & NO ONE else has or can tell you what to expect. With Disney continuing to add the restrictions to resale, you want to think about the additional steps required to stay at new resorts with resale points. IF Disney turns those 6-resorts into NEW DVC associations, you can now use your points at 6-resorts (unless you trade). Just another thing to think about when purchasing DVC
I am buying at animal kingdom because I think the animals are cool. My fiance does not like crowds and wants to just lay around so it being far from the parks is ok with me. I just leave him at the resort or at disney springs and I go on some rides.
So, 2008 really hammered prices, the points were all down for a few years, as economy recovered and Disney hooked onto Marvel enthusiasm and park magic was at its peak and continued right up to COVID. They really are going to go down if this visitor trend down continues but I believe when we see a bottom in the stock and new management, things will recover on all fronts, so buy your points when they appear to be low. Saratoga is such a great hangout resort, I’m starting to think $80 to $100 is a really good value. As a note, BLT is our home resort(2011) and we had a Saratoga when we could visit more, sold it for $35 more than we paid 7 years later.
I think adding another layer of looking at how many points to book something can change the math somewhat. We have been lucky to book some value studios at our home resort AKL but even without that AKL and some of the older resorts take less points to book a stay.
We are 59 and 60 this year, looking closely at DVC, and 18 years of contract life left seems just about right. My real question is: what happens to these resorts when all the contracts expire? Will they convert to cash rooms? Will they begin with all new contracts? Knowing the future plans would help us decide which resort to pursue. We know we can leave our contract as a legacy, but also not sure our kids will be as interested in Disney as DH & I are. So as much as we'd like to own at Poly, it might be more financially practical for us to buy at BWV.
I love your show and great info as always. I do think you can consider editing more as some videos are long and I find myself fast forwarding through a lot of it
No way! We love the long shows. Most people complained they were too short before and they fixed that. I can always pause and come back. Love having them to listen to or watch for a longer time and the extra banter where we get to learn more about their personalities.
Hey Kim! Thanks for the feedback. If you’re looking for more short-form content, I have a DVC Tip of the Week series and each video is 1 minute or less. I’ve got more to come each week. :) ruclips.net/p/PL70Qs9qdxDuC0pWh5XmXK58dTnMKjyRN5&si=bYgMeBy-2EFIPlvA
My personal experience looking to uograde from Vero Beach, I found Old Key West lower price per point to be the best option for me despite being a 2042 resort.
I'd love to see you guys have a hypothetical conversation (or "real" if you have any inside knowledge) as to when you think "years remaining" become a real factor. I hear Derrick when he says "no one really cares" - and with all/most contracts having 20+ years, that's likely the case... however, at some point, these contracts have to become essentially worthless. For me, if a contract has
I wish we could have afforded to buy direct, but we found a great resale deal on AK for our first contract. We have an emotional connection to that resort, and can't wait to stay. For my kid, she has an emotional connection to the Poly, and so I hope that we will be able to stay there sometime once the tower opens. I am just confused about why the studios in the original building sleep 5 and it looks like the new studios in the Poly tower sleep 4.
Ok let’s say I own resale and want to stay at riviera. Does world of DVC have a way to swap and rent points so that you could say give poly points and then get riviera points?
Question, if I own 50 boardwalk DVC points and I own 100 Saratoga points…can I book boardwalk 11 months out and use all 150 points @ the boardwalk or am I limited to only those 50 points from my boardwalk contract? Sorry…I’m not a DVC owner yet and I’m doing my research.
Hello! You’ll be able to only use the 50 BoardWalk points at BoardWalk at the 11 month window and won’t be able to use the Saratoga points at BoardWalk until the 7 month window. This is a common question so we actually cover it soon in an upcoming show. :)
Amy, I’m a balloon twister by trade and can offer tips and tricks to succeed. If enough viewers want to see you make balloon animals, will you give it a go?
We have no plans to return to a studio setting at this time. The show has been logistically much easier to record and produce in our current format and also allows all the panelists more flexibility and less of a time commitment to film.

Derek's shirt is so great!

Yes SSR direct owner here since about 2004; annual dues tipped >$200/mo last year. 😳

Love your show, guys! Thanks for all the helpful information as usual.
Sorry you're having camera issues (8:14) (15:10) ... But I love THE DVC FAN!!😂😂
LOVE the shirt today, Derek!

Gah! Or maybe not!
Does this comparison also take into account point for specific rooms on point charts?
I really thought this was great information today. Thanks for walking us through the analysis!

I've noticed lately that there is availability for BW, BR and RR in the quick getaway listing. Even studios
Definitely interested in boardwalk points regardless of the expiration year.

I like to try all resorts and I have. 😊

I met Panda at Sci Fi Dine In. He couldn't have been a nicer guy. 😁
And we are very happy with your videos
I’m riding out my boardwalk contract to the end!
Any idea when BLT refurb concept designs will be released??

Thanks, I thought that is the way it worked but I haven’t heard it explained that way yet. Thanks again
We just bought OKW with the extended years direct. I already want more points....lol
Why can't the poodle stay??
Ikr
Paul would you say….Amy will be “coming around the mountain” with that banjo
Good morning team.
Amy, I’m a balloon twister by trade and can offer tips and tricks to succeed. If enough viewers want to see you make balloon animals, will you give it a go?
I’ll try just about anything once! Lol
I am guessing SSR or OKW?
Just curious, will you all be back in a studio at some point?

@@DVCFan Makes sense. I miss the in-person interactions. It adds a certain energy that you lose in web call form, but I also totally get it.
Georgia peach watching now. 🍑 😊 🏰
Perhaps this is why the fans are disappearing from DVC rooms.
From what I am hearing. RUclips will also pick and choose who will get the most views. Depending on what “they” want you to view. 😝
