This is a cover (upgrade!) of a 1994 song by Seal.
I wouldn’t say they’ve “changed” but they’ve definitely “evolved” into something pretty spectacular!
Analyzing the context is a bit impossible, lol. Seal insisted that listeners interpret the song however they want to, so he never explained the lyrics. This is a new cover, yes, released on their latest album last month, and this video dropped yesterday. They all vocally smashed this cover. Would a little more Kirstie be nice? Yes, but she did get a really nice moment and you can hear her soaring through the background. Mitch, Scott, and Matt passed around the lead so seamlessly and beautifully. The cello was like a sixth voice, and the song was highlighted by Kevin's high riff. Actually, this whole thing is a riff fest, with all of them emoting all over the place. LOVE it.
Great reaction. This is a cover though of Seal's 'Kiss from a Rose'. They have a lot of original music out now too though, including 'I rise' and 'Please Santa please'.

Lol maybe it's a little of his accent. I think he sounds slightly country in shallow and star on top, but not on this

Note all of the members except Kevin just might have a greater connection with this song than they know....we would have to ask their parents. This was some serious baby making music in the 90s.
Having your song sung by Pentatonix is becoming an award...as it should be. Mitch and Kirstie have both said Kevin has the highest register in the group, his falsetto is fantastic.

And the person on the cello is kevin, the beatboxer who also plays the cello, not mitch. That high pitch note, after the cello solo, is a kevin slap not mitch slap.

You know that this is a cover. The original was done by Seal.
Now as you have found out their record company is stupid when it comes to copyright issues. But most reactors I have heard from (about 25-30 or so) have found they worry more about the video, so if you will
make the video more transparent, or blacked out
and place some text over it (your name, Pentatonix, “covered with text for copyright”, a logo just anything,
and then pause now and then to talk, it will help to keep from getting blocked. With their label and YT nothing is guaranteed, but from what the other reactors have said, this things create an 80%-90% improvement, at least you meet all the written rules, unless the reviewer is having a bad day.
No I wish Superfruit was still recording music, but they probably have plenty of videos you haven’t seen. Please react to more superfruit.
