nice video! in my experience (with rog ally) I used to hate 720p cuz it looked awful and blurry, and drooled over fsr3+frame gen mods for better performance, until one day I realized I was always using the fsr option on my games (wether fsr 1 or 2 or 3) even when switching to 720p, to I tried 720p with FSR off and damn, the difference with 1080p was barely noticeable and the performance was much better than 1080p + FSR, then I tried RIS and then RSR and both options make the game look so crisp and good on 720p that I dont even miss 1080p anymore, for some reason RIS and RSR only work for me when activated on adrenaline and not by armoury crate now I highly suggest playing games on 720p+RSR or RIS (Games played: RE 2,3,8 Monster Hunter World Iceborne, Horizon Zero Dawn and Sons of the Forest)
720p and even 900p are great native resolutions to use in the Ally. Similar to legion go where 800p really is the resolution is meant for gaming tough games. 1080 on Ally is nice and crispy on some easy to run stuff but typically I do prefer going 720p on that size screen
Hopefully RSR comes to Steam Deck currently the only way for Unsupported Games to get FSR is setting a Lower Resolution in Window Mode, and it gets Upscaled by the Overlay. Radeon Image Sharpening sound like a less power hungry version of FXAA/MSMMA and so on. That's a perfect Explanation for all this Technology.
Look into making integer scaling on rog ally..... 540p doesn't sound like it would look good but it's as good as 900p with performance and battery life that will blow your mind.
Bit of a strange one, got the Arzopa 16.1 monitor and it's been working fine when docked, now all of a sudden it'll only come if "duplicate" is enabled? If I try second monitor only it switches off and goes into "power saving mode" any ideas??
Hey man, do you know why the ally will only run at 25w when it’s docked? I use the asus brick that comes with the ally, docked in jsaux dock but will only allow 25w turbo mode?
The 65w charger only gives turbo mode when plugged in directly. Due to the voltage drop when docked (if not the official dock) is too much for it to provide the additional. You need a 100w rated charger when docked for it to pass through correctly.

900p is your boy
Thank you for the video. A bunch of RUclipsrs talked about these features but didn't go into the details, which kind of sucks. This helped a lot...
Thanks for the video. No fluff just information. I appreciate the time you took and effort to make this. Tysm
So concise, thanks bruhdah 🤙
Very good explanation, Thanx
Thanks! How do I know if RSR is working?
Thank you for taking the time to explain these different features. What game are you playing at the beginning of the video?
The game is Deep Rock Galactic Survivor

so on a 1080p monitor i can use RSR to upscale it to 4k then use FSR for boosted frame frame rate?
What's the best ally settings for FPS games like modern warfare etc?

@@AllyinHand ah ok so I need to upgrade my power brick to a 100w? The genuine one that’s comes with only work at 30w with the official asus dock plug?
@@StopMeFastyeah or direct to the Ally
What is this game on the start of the clip?
Deep rock galactic: survivor
From my testing RIS has no impact on performance, while RSR does.
Does rsr give better performance?
got a rog ally for 6 months and didnt know
RSR is nice, cost 5% in performance (understandably), and works at best for 1/2 the games.
