Project AORUS - A fully watercooled custom built casemod

  • Опубликовано: 4 окт 2024
  • Project AORUS was initially thought as a simple show build with some watercooling and custom cables, but as it so often happens I got carried away and decided to custom make my own watercooling parts for the build.
    The build consists of two custom manifold plates.
    Plate one that sits on the motherboard connects all the major components such as GPU, CPU, motherboard and RAM into one big distributing plate. The second plate houses the reservoir as well as two D5 pumps and routes the fluid into the radiators in top and bottom as well.
    Specs:
    Mobo: Gigabyte AORUS Z270X-GAMING 9
    CPU: Intel Core i7 7700K
    RAM: Corsair Vengeance 3000mhz 32 gb
    SSD: Corsair MP500 480 gb M.2 ssd
    PSU: Corsair HX850i
    GFX: 2 x Gigabyte 1080 G1 gaming
    Case: HEX GEAR R80
    Watercooling:
    EK supremacy EVO full nickel
    EK RAM Monarch x4
    4 x EK RAM Monarch Module
    2 x EK D5 Vario
    2 x EK FC1080 GTX G1 GPU waterblocks
    2 x EK FC1080 GTX G1 Backplate
    2 x EK CoolStream CE 420
    6 x EK Vardar F1-140 fans
    Bitspower fittings
    Custom manifold and pump/reservoir housing combo.

    Hans, we talked at the german Dreamhack, i am that russian guy that lives in Leipzig. Russians love your project (but not the price tags :D ), but still - if there is some interest, i will at least help them get cases. And i know that your case will survive ruff russian delivery without problems :P

  • @joegermains

    Hi,
    I'm interested in making my own custom water cooling blocks like you are doing here, and I was wondering how you make the seals? Do you get custom made rubber o rings made? Also how do you make them connect to the pumps and things? Is it standard G1/4 ports with couplers?

    Love your builds and this one is no exception. Especially love your custom manifolds as well. Just how much time and money went into this build and the manifolds themselves?

    • @metap0Pe
      @metap0Pe  7 лет назад

      Most of the time was spend on the manifolds. It takes forever to measure up so the dimensions are correct. Just half a milimeter will make stuff look very crooked, so it has to be spot on.

    Another incredible work, congratulations. By the way is it explained anywhere how to make these plates? Especially the o rings

    • @metap0Pe
      @metap0Pe  7 лет назад

      You can purchase o-ring string that you just glue together, but the o-rings for this build was specially bought o-rings in the correct length for the channels. You can find a lot of info online on what sizes o-ring groves should be, but much of this is just trial and error :)

    How long does it take you to design one of your systems on average. Also, how are your parts made/3d modeled? Love the work

    • @metap0Pe
      @metap0Pe  7 лет назад

      Thank you! This system was around 80-140 hours to do. It is hard to keep track as I spend time on it on/off for months. I model the parts in a program called Solidworks.

    Awesome work! One question: How did you integrate the D5´s or how needed the acrylic to be milled so it fits?

    • @Lucas-dt5gr
      @Lucas-dt5gr 7 лет назад

      Okay acutally i have another one, what are the average costs of one "passthrough" wall like the R40 build? I know its different to where i live etc. but id just like to know what to expect ^^ thanks

    • @metap0Pe
      @metap0Pe  7 лет назад

      The costs of the acrylic plates variates. Depends on a lot of stuff such as, can you draw them yourself? Do you know a guy with a mill, or do you have to pay a company to make them for you etc etc. I milled a D5 pump housing into the acrylic itself to make them fit.
