Not only is this some of the finest woodworking craftsmanship out there, it's a beautiful piece of art. Well played, sir, well played. As for the pencil problem, I learned from my daddy when I was just a girl to use talc marking "pencils" instead. Not only are they easy to sharpen with just a scrap of sandpaper, unwanted marks can be erased with a wet cloth(or finger, lol).
Beautiful! I love how the dowels cross paths. Also, the end bit totally sums up my video making experience. The more thought I put into a shot, the more likely things won’t cooperate 😂
beautiful! I also love how you show that it is as much or more work to film and edit as it is to do the cool and innovative projects you do. I am looking forward to more. thank you. good stuff!
Amazing! Love the part at the end of the video. It really shows how much work you put into these videos. Not only the time it takes to make the project. But the time it takes to make a well crafted video. Thanks!
Kevin well worth the patience, time, mistakes (tear out) and bloody long hours! This project is a credit to you, congratulations, it is stunning!!! Cheers, Sean
I only discovered your channel a couple of months ago. You've quickly become one of my favorites. You demonstrate an awesome blend between a skilled craftsman and an artist.
Watching that outake, you are a better man then I. At that point, I would be like, "Alright! I am done!" Then I would go in and feel bad about myself while watching someone like you on RUclips make something beautiful like this. I love your art pieces!
krtwood I figured you've probably got a stack of photos from the builds laying around somewhere. Just round them all up and put a paper clip on them. If you build it, they will come....
I actually did try writing a book last year but I only told one person about it and it wasn't you :) But I'm going to do a video series on my second channel instead.
This man is an artist. SO many things to be said about this video. 1) This is an absolute lesson in patience and persistence. 2) His creativity never ceases to amaze me. 3) I love that he shows goofs and problems in his videos. 4) I'd give anatomy to have that much hardwood scrap laying around; there's nothing here in NE FL. 5) I ought to send him a gross of #2 pencils! What I'd give for his patience and talent.
I just watch this with my 7 year old daughter at the end she says"he's making a tool rack"! We really laughed at the end with the pencil I feel just like that working and trying to film it! Excellent as always mate. Cheers Blaise and Calli
There wasn't too much to it. Hardwood copy of the ways on two 2xs running to the floor and braced to the stand. Threw it together real quick. I ended up having to throw a bunch of weight on the lathe to get the biggest one running fast enough.
As always a lot of fun to watch you work and see what you come up with. And I think your pencils are revolting against you for some reason. Too damn funny......
That came out looking awesome!!! I'm really interested to see how ye seem to be moving in a much more "strictly visual Art" direction lately. (At least on the channel!)
I needed a break from making drawers :) I'll be doing some more functional things, more boxes and probably a desk. Always with an artsy feel to it though.
I saw some of the posts for this build on instagram, and I enjoyed seeing the full story on youTube. If you ever decide you don't want it on the wall, I think it's beautiful and would make a lovely tabletop (with glass or something).
I really like this, some subtle LED lighting might go with this depending on the location it is mounted, the only problem I can foresee, is dusting it......... But all in all I really like this.Great job. 5 STAR rating!
Poor you! :D And poor other youtubers as well who struggle so much for us, viewers! But thank you for that :) And I really like your art projects, this one as well! Nicely flowing. At first I was thinking are you making a wooden van Gogh (like The starry night) but not quite. To me this one looks like a gust of wind through woods, really cool :) so great job!
Thanks! I've been playing around with this concept of having one type of wood embedded within another and exposing it. So just thinking about different ways to accomplish that.
The pencil outtakes were gold. Great work.
Beautiful work, thanks for the seminar.
Absolutely stunning!
Thanks, John!

Wow. This needed more and longer still shots to really bask in the completed piece. Wow. Thanks, Kevin!
Rewind and pause. Rewind and pause.
Beautiful! I love how the dowels cross paths. Also, the end bit totally sums up my video making experience. The more thought I put into a shot, the more likely things won’t cooperate 😂
Very impressive work with a good laugh at the end. Love it!
Incredible. Fantastic craftsmanship.

I always love your videos and projects, but this video took your editing to the next level. Fantastic man.
Thanks!
The foreshadowing.... patience of a saint. Nice, clean result in the end.
Kevin well worth the patience, time, mistakes (tear out) and bloody long hours! This project is a credit to you, congratulations, it is stunning!!! Cheers, Sean
You have astonishing creativity! Love all of your videos.
Beautiful piece of art!
Just WOW, both for wood art and video editing. Unique style.
Amazing skill, what a lovely piece
I totally loved the bit at the end with the pencil. It just had my brother and me in stitches. Thanks for the insight. Great project too.
The struggle is real.
I only discovered your channel a couple of months ago. You've quickly become one of my favorites. You demonstrate an awesome blend between a skilled craftsman and an artist.
Thank you!
I thought from the thumbnail that is smaller but is huge! Speechless! Absolutely stunning!
It's nice to see that I'm not the only out hear having little things like a pencil breaking mess with your mind. Thanks for sharing this work of art.
Watching that outake, you are a better man then I. At that point, I would be like, "Alright! I am done!" Then I would go in and feel bad about myself while watching someone like you on RUclips make something beautiful like this. I love your art pieces!
I'd put this in my house. Well done, thanks for making the video.
Your work is always so wonderfully artistic and unique. I love it!
Thanks, Steve!
After the second time that pencil broke, I would have thrown the whole thing out the window! Wonderful art under pressure!
But not wonderful pencils under pressure.
The port holes remind me of structural aircraft lighting holes. So creative! Look forward to your upcoming book
With a piece of glass that would make a really cool high end table top
I'm writing a book?

krtwood cool, always look forward to your content :)
WOW! That’s your scrap wood!!

Central florida here. Basically we have oak and pine and more oak and oak just sucks.
We have mostly pine, oak, and maple here. You need to go to a real lumberyard for the good stuff.
I'm so impressed by you for so many reasons. Thank you for doing what you do, for sharing it with us here, and for living life!
Yeah, that was beautiful to watch. Gorgeous piece!
Strangely beautiful!
Walmart pencils?
I have a 1.5mm mechanical pencil I use in my compass.
I love the depth and texture of this one. Beautiful piece!
Amazing work! Thank you for adding the blooper reel at the end. I can relate to those pencils not cooperating.
this would make an incredible 'soundbar' look. Art that makes music, perfect
Super cool art
Beautiful!! I love love love that you left all the mistakes in.
Beautiful piece, would love to have this on my wall.
It'll cost ya ;)
Another real neat project! Thanks for sharing!
That is truly wonderful. Your project is amazing and your video is exceptional.
Great project, cool split screen and awesome outtakes!
that's a lot of scrap wood my friend, great project!
What an amazing video and project
Really love this piece. There is a Beautiful flow to it as if the dowel were a river threading through the wood.
Fundamentally. I'm really impressed.
What a beautiful work. Those pencils...my god!
Looks amazing!
Crazy work!
Love the outcome.
SUPER. Nice idea.
Wild! Cheers, Chris.
This piece is absolutely beautiful! Well done.

Well it is up the wall in the shop at the moment. I was trying to think of what tools I could stick in it without messing up the finish :)
Love it as always.
The C clamps tho and the dowel on the table saw, love your stuff.
Wonderful design nicely executed! Maybe I missed in in earlier video but would love to see your lathe set up more clearly.
There wasn't too much to it. Hardwood copy of the ways on two 2xs running to the floor and braced to the stand. Threw it together real quick. I ended up having to throw a bunch of weight on the lathe to get the biggest one running fast enough.
Pure crazy man !!!!!!!
Ineffable piece!
Awesome! It's a lot bigger than I expected. A lot heavier too based on the extra grunt around 9:13
I didn't really understand the scale from the thumbnail. That thing is so cool. A piece of art.
Thanks!
I'm speechless!
At least you caught the pencil problem on video! Who hasn't had things like that happen?? I feel your pain.... Nice piece of art!
Awesome nice Work, looks great
Beautiful, so amazing your job
Шикарная работа. Мастеру уважение и восхищение.
Wow!!! Such a wonderful piece! You're very artistic and hardworking. That pencil part looks kinda frustrating. Hahaha
Very nice piece. Well done. Popped pencil problem perplexing.
Stunning... and that Saga Of The Pencil! 😆
It has been great, congratulations
Interesting. I liked the result
wow... just.. WOW!
Amazing!
Amazing work as always! thanks for the ending, really had a great laugh

I got a good laugh out of the end. Dang pencils!!

Spectacular!
As always a lot of fun to watch you work and see what you come up with. And I think your pencils are revolting against you for some reason. Too damn funny......
Thanks, Guy!
Ending slayed me.
very nice
Wow! I love it
Superb! Really nice work! As if patience wasn't already a key factor in the making of it, it is being tested to the very limits by your pencil, lol.
Beautiful as usual!!!!!!!!! Looked really have though.
Dude that’s gorgeous! Oh and by the way Ticonderoga pencils won’t let you down 😉
Glad I’m not then only person who struggles with the easy little jobs which should take 2 seconds 😂 they never do!
thats nice but what is it?
Stunning project! Use a 8B pencil. It will lay down a thick line quickly for you.
That came out looking awesome!!! I'm really interested to see how ye seem to be moving in a much more "strictly visual Art" direction lately. (At least on the channel!)

Respira con ese lápiz Jaja beautifull designe congratulations
😄😄😄 I was dying at the end
Very nice at work, but with all the difficulty drawing the circles, I don't understand what purpose they serve.
Only superman could appreciate the dowels being there without them?
C'est magnifique, jadore
Lovely
love it!!
A-ma-zing. Thanks for sharing.
I love the circles, but I dont get the dowels. Great work tho!
That's okay!
Very Very Cool! Where do you come up with your designs?! Great work! I love all your videos!
Thanks! I've been playing around with this concept of having one type of wood embedded within another and exposing it. So just thinking about different ways to accomplish that.
