I have spent the last two weeks in RUclips looking for the best Chicken Lo Mein recipe.. I am not sure I have tried all of them. All of what i found were good (at least pretty good on some) When i found this recipe, first I tried it with out the rice vinegar and the wine. it was good, but when I tried it with the wine and vinegar, it was absolutely delicious.. if you make this recipe it is VERY well worth the trouble to add the wine and vinegar. Daylight and dark difference for flavor. This is the best Chicken Lo Mein recipe I found in fact today I made a double recipe of it. It is hard to quit eating it. the chicken is so tender.. The only thing I would change if this were my recipe is where he says the wine and vinegar are not necessary. Wally big thumbs up on this recipe
😃 Hello Old Geezer! To be honest most Lo mein recipes use the same ingredients. What makes the difference is the person cooking it. So since you did the work then you should give yourself all the credit ✌️ Take care, stay healthy and thank you so much for watching 😄
The best so far! People seem to want to over complicate things. This was very much just what you need to do very quickly and not the other BS. I did see one where they had a little bit of peanut butter to the sauce which I am about to try because I have not even cooked it, but it’s all prepped, but props to your video.
Thanks Colin, yeah you know as a creator I'm trying to find that balance where there's enough information but not too much 😀 I'm doing that with my newer videos 👍
Can't wait to try this for dinner tonight! I absolutely love Chinese food recipes because once you have the main sauces/spices you can make dozens of dishes!
One thing I've noticed from Chinese restaurants near me and my time working in many restaurants, if you can pound the chicken super thin before during your prep stage, the chicken cooks MUCH faster. This is good for 2 reasons... First, you save time, but second, the shorter the cooking time the more velvety and soft your chicken stays. If you don't pound the chicken it can get rubbery from cooking too long on high heat. Just my two bits. Nice recipe and finished product looks very nice.
I just made this tonight. I had some grill chicken that is already cooked. Mix veg. Chopped onion, chopped garlic, bean sprouts, and i use Spaghetti Noodles, The sauce was SOY, Oyster, peanut butter, red pepper flakes, sesame seed oil, and some black pepper. I Put my cooked chicken, into a skillet, with the frozen, Mix veg, Until wilted. then the cooked noodles on top >Then add the sauce mix up real good simmer a few min mixing it around. That it YUM
While living in Philadelphia.. I came across Lo mein that was very tasty, full of flavor and was very juicy. Most places now serve this dish very dry not much meat or vegetables. Philadelphia has the best Chinese Food I have ever had!
Can you use olive oil instead cooking vegetable oil? Or white flour instead of corn flour? This recipe looks amazing thank you! I love to eat this with Chinese white sticky rice. It's pricey now to order this.
Hello, how's it going? You can but make sure it's a flavorless olive oil like light olive oil. White flour and corn flour are both sauce thickeners. However, cornflour (also called cornstarch) works better and you only need less. I've never eaten lo mein with sticky rice, but I have eaten it with fried rice 😆
I love adding hot sauce into my low mein too. I thought it was just me. I feel like it gives it an extra something. It’s like you get a bite of spicy, sweet, and salty all in one. Great and easy video on how to make an at home low mein.
Hi Jasmine 😆 Yeah personally I like Tabasco sauce. The Chinese restaurants I ate in always had bottles of it. You can use up the whole bottle they wouldn’t care. I’d cover my entire plate of Lo mein with Tabasco sauce 😃 Thanks for watching and commenting Jasmine 🙏
@@WallyCooksEverything my personal favorite hot sauce for low mein has to be hands down El Yucateco Red Chile Habanero Sauce. It’s so delicious. If you’ve never tried it before I highly recommend but be light handed because it’s kick definitely blows Tabasco out of the water lol. I’m the same way when it comes to my low mein I have to drown it in hot sauce. I think about the potential for heartburn or upset stomach later on😂 In the meanwhile I’m in low mein heaven. It was my pleasure watching your video. Keep up the great videos and content.
Yesss! 😂 I am familiar with El Yucateco, I used to live in NYC and found these on tables in Mexican restaurant. Some days I like the green some days I prefer red 😆
Looks amazing especially the sauce. I have a lot of the ingredients, like the lo mien noodles, sesame oil, soy sauce, rice vinegar, oyster sauce & most of the vegetables. Seems to me the bean sprouts are pretty much essential. Thanks for the wonderful video.
Hello Carol, how are you? 😃 Bean sprouts are good but if you have all ingredients but have difficulty finding sprouts you can still cook, shouldn’t be a problem 🙏🏻
I think I just found my recipe. Wow, that was good. I did not add carrots, nor a protein, scratch that, I did add a fried egg and bell peppers. This was so Simple and it tasted really close to what the restaurants in my area taste. Thank you! Edit: After many instances of this recipe, I removed the sesame oil entirely. I found it was overpowering everything. As a side effect, the sauce is easier to clean up as it no longer has oil.
Looks lovely, and you made it much, much less intimidating! The only things I’ll modify for myself is adding fresh garlic, and using char siu or Japanese chashu, as I love bbq’d or roasted pork lo mein. Thank you posting this lovely video. 😃😃
This looks amazing!. There's a chinese store... Well there are a few but this one looks BIG and amazing, so ima go there soon and check it out.. I love my stirfrys and I want the best ingredients for my next one :D.
Hi Victor, my friend also has shellfish allergies so she uses hoisin sauce when she makes this. Hoisin is a tasty sauce so I think it’ll work out right 👍
Hello! Yes you can. If it’s a shellfish allergy I have a friend makes this with hoisin sauce. Not saying that hoisin sauce taste same as oyster sauce. But it’s a good substitute just add little at a time during cooking until it’s right for your taste 👍😀
Hi Robert, you can add some salt and baking soda to the shrimp. Chinese chefs use a little bit of baking soda on shrimp gives it a nice pop when bite into it. Just remember to rinse shrimp afterwards. But honestly that’s just extra work. I would just mix it with the chicken marinade 😃
