Canon or not, I just like to believe that there were vampire hunters capable of fighting in the Belmont's absence. Sure, the Morris family did so, but that was still with the Vampire Killer in hand. With the existence of characters like Sypha Belnades, Charlotte Aulin, Shanoa, and of course, Alucard and Soma - the series has clearly shown that non-Belmont heroes can take down Dracula, and I'm perfectly fine with Nathan Graves being in the mix as well, regardless of what Konami feels like accepting.
