We know Peter Kay is a special talent but so, too, is Sian Gibson. This is acting of the highest quality because you genuinely can't tell that they are acting. This scene must have been played out in many many similar if not identical situations. John turning up the radio, Kayleigh turning it down and lines like "The traffic's bad on here tonight" and "What's this prick doing?" as John seeks to avoid the issue. The "because I love you line" is perfect (and very moving.)
At 3:35... his reaction when his voice goes up and 'breaks'... he says "fuckin' 'ell"... is brilliant. It's hilarious, he's like 'wtf??'.... it's so subtle. Great acting!
My heart breaks every time I watch this scene, especially at the bit were she walks out the car and his message gets read on the radio. Thank god the show never actually ended like this.
You have to admire Peter Kay for his ingenuity. We too shared all those car share journeys with John and Kayleigh and could relate to the dynamics between them. The longing, the fantasy of things developing into something deeper, the intimacy of being with someone who seems to know us and makes us feel special. Just as in real life more often than not things turn out to thwart our hopes and dreams, and it all suddenly goes pear-shaped. You're left wondering 'What happened there?". It's usually because one or other is afraid and would rather be alone than get hurt. I think if John and Kayleigh had driven off into the sunset all loved-up it might have appeared contrived. That's why we could all relate to their relationship and the delicate balance of the scales of its potential.
This brought back so many memories for me. I was so in love with my best friend 15 years ago and he didn't feel the same. It broke my heart and we parted ways!!
These things do happen in life, little miss sunshine. Peter said himself in a recent interview on the radio that he was teary every time he watched these last scenes.
The moment Kayleigh said "Because I love you, that's why!" It absolutely broke me and shocked me to pieces. I was begging and begging for months for more episodes and a good ending.
The ending is a shame for Kayleigh's character but you can't fault that the ending has got people talking. At least it wasn't the typical ending that we would always expect. Great show, perfect casting and one of the best things on tv for a long time.
Creators of shows say that all the time. Then there's a christmas special. If they say "yes there will be" people will react to that now and start to talk about it and it will be an anti climax when it arrives. Guarantee it will come out that there's to be a christmas special closer to the time.
This hurts so much. Took Hazel to work everyday, lost her like this 30 years ago. She moved down South, hasn’t been a day when I don’t think about her.
@1:04 “...what’s this prick doin over ‘ere...?” (John trying to change the subject) Brilliant! Obvious that these two are friends; they share great chemistry. Wish the series was still in production. Peter’s comedic genius has no doubt more ideas that are possible with this particular project.
I think the first series was faultless when they had a beautiful friendship and it focused purely on comedy but it's been building up to this since the beginning of series 2 and when it became apparent that they had developed feelings for each other I think people guessed that it couldn't go on for ever or back to the way it used to.
Fantastic series definitely on a par with phoenix nights, this scene was so moving especially as it's how I feel about the person I watched it with, I just can't seem to be able to tell them.
Just watched the last episode last night, Very Sad Ending, i nearly cried lol... but a Great Show. Why was there only 4 Episodes when you usually get 6 in a Series, Plus i dont believe Peter kay when he says that was the last ever episode, We Definitely havent seen the last of Car Share, that im sure of :)
I think that someone is gonna tell kayleigh about the radio announcement and she'll get with him but the worrying thing is at the end he said yeah I'm done does that mean he's given up on her?
Never watched it when it was on, but they both sound like me. Real emotion and great acting , the woman I never met was a character! oh well, carry on.
I thought we were going to get a couple of Xmas specials with Kayleigh on the Christmas team... They should do a Kayleigh and John holiday driving across American, she asked him in the first series if he never dreamed of going away somewhere.
No no no I can’t deal with this amount of sadness ‘Because I love you that’s why and it’s killing me that you don’t feel the same’ 💔 John said he’s done so I’m terrified for the finale I really hope that they get together in the Finale but I don’t want it to be forced
Series one ended on a perfect "will they won't they" ending. This ending just frustrated people who wanted a Disney ending. I wouldn't bother making a special episode, leave it be.
i loved this show as a nice gentle fantasy comedy especially series one....once real feelings started creeping into it it got sad and suddenlly too serious...i never want them to get together now as the magic has gone
I like the chemistry displayed between John and Kayleigh in series 2, still had the laughs ( Elsie comes to mind ) but an underlying romance building, to each their own.
I never thought for a minute watching it on iPlayer weeks ago that it would be the last one. However, reflecting on the last 2-days since its broadcast and Kay's announcement (which I initially assumed was a publicity stunt), I think it's one of the boldest, profound endings to any show or film ever, if it really is the end. Kay said in an interview he was fascinated by people who would love to be in love, but are too afraid of being hurt. Also, we do get the fantasy ending, so it's kind of bittersweet. You could choose to believe that the show ends with John daydreaming about what would have happened if he didn't chase after her.
The first series was six episodes, 30 minutes each. The second series was four episodes, 30 minutes each. Your average Christmas special is 60 mins. So, four 30 minute episodes plus one 60 minute episode makes the equivalent of a six episode series. I can only assume that they've already filmed a Christmas special alongside the rest of series two. Good money saver. There'll be a special and it'll be the real ending, mark my words.
They should've had John run after her and fall like he did in the postbox scene in series 1 🏃 I would've loved to have seen them get together but if it is the end it adds a bit more mystery to what happened next.
When she said "Because I love you that's why!"
My heart literally broke.
No, it didn't literally break, did it.
That crack in her voice was brilliantly acted.
Out of curiosity, how did you continue typing while your ateries were hemorrhaging?
When my dad died my heart literally broke. 💔 Actor's don't break hearts they break their bank ballance.
The amount of times I’ve watched this and shouted “Just tell her how you feel, John!” Hundreds.

Amazing actress, I think she won a BAFTA award. That scene would bring a tear to a glass eye.
When he started crying my heart cracked. When he said 'I'm done', my heart split.
My heart breaks every time I watch this scene, especially at the bit were she walks out the car and his message gets read on the radio. Thank god the show never actually ended like this.
Just stumbled upon Car Share and have watched 7 episodes back to back. I'd heard of it b4 but my god - its brilliant!

To quote the show: "Wow, you've really given it some thought, haven't you?"
Oh fuck offfffffff

Brings a tear to my eyes every time.... beautiful moment in this incredible series.
We want a 3rd series!!! The people demand it Peter!
utubenoobie01 Mr Kay has said no, but miracles do happen.... sometimes. Fingers crossed 🤞🏽
Five years ago do you think it will happen, I haven't seen it yet
I never used to like him, then I started watching car share and now my heart is broken
The ending is a shame for Kayleigh's character but you can't fault that the ending has got people talking. At least it wasn't the typical ending that we would always expect. Great show, perfect casting and one of the best things on tv for a long time.
This is a brilliant scene, actually similar happened to me!! Burst into tears. Almost written for me hairs on the back of my neck!!!
Yeah course it did George 🤣
Fuck off George
@@scousespartin09 charming
@@georgenetherway6071 cmon George. I want to know what happened
Did you smash it in the end, George?
I cried so much at this I was screaming at the telly
Always leave your audience wanting more! True, but this is taking the piss! Great show ;)
Heart breakingly brilliant!
‘Men are from Mars - Women are from Venus’, and this scene captures that brilliantly. A hugely enjoyable series.
So very true...
I just bawled my eyes out 😭
He’s a much better actor than I had thought 👍
Come on man, I can't cry because of this 🥺
Can't wait for series 3! 😊✌
Ironage BADS Peter revealed earlier this week there will be no more Car Share! 😔
I cried
Daniel Bickley-Gorman me too😭
Me three :(
Daniel Bickley-Gorman I cried and then went to Tesco to buy season 1
JBC 101 lol
JBC 101 Let's hope the series two DVD is on the way, hopefully with unseen bits and outtakes!
If he dosnt do a Christmas special then I swear to god!!!!!
Junior Men he announced that there won't be another series and not even a Christmas special
Junior Men Unfortunately, as Bestie03 said there will be no more John and Kayliegh. Unless Peter changes his mind!
Yeah straight after this video and i went on bbc news and he said what you said. But hopefully there will be a one off episode
Junior Men Fingers crossed! 🤞🏻

"Nobody puts Kayleigh in the corner." lmaoo
Brilliant writing.
The Music Fits So Well To The Scene
When she said "I love you and its breaking my heart that you dont love me back!" I literally cried... srsly. I did.
This hurts so much. Took Hazel to work everyday, lost her like this 30 years ago. She moved down South, hasn’t been a day when I don’t think about her.
Can't wait for conclusion.love this show

Not sure how they met but Shain appeared in a few episodes of Phoenix Lights (Mary's daughter)
Teh Goat ; I believe Peter and Sian met at university.
I think the first series was faultless when they had a beautiful friendship and it focused purely on comedy but it's been building up to this since the beginning of series 2 and when it became apparent that they had developed feelings for each other I think people guessed that it couldn't go on for ever or back to the way it used to.
I'm hoping that they do a Christmas special one-off as both series has been building up to being on the Christmas team
Glyn Shirt The Christmas Team will always be in our hearts! I'd like to imagine that Elsie and Joyce Chung will be in the Christmas Team too 🤣
Same
Superb show i watch the complete series at least once a month (is that obsessive)
No! That's a great amount of Car Share! HA
I miss these two on our screens. He must do more, fantastic together.
Fantastic series definitely on a par with phoenix nights, this scene was so moving especially as it's how I feel about the person I watched it with, I just can't seem to be able to tell them.
I reckon they might have to commission a third series, this is just so funny, he is hilarious!!!!!!!!!😂!!!!!!!!!
James Fisher If Peter is telling the truth, then there will be no more Car Share... EVER! 😮😫
You can hear the desperation in his voice
Omg..screams..what happened. Ive only seen 4 episodes of the first series and im bawling my eyes out!! Stopppppppp!!!
Make sure you watch the last episode!
So disappointed by the ending of car share, please please please make one last episode and get them together
Adam Owen Unless Mr. Kay is fibbing, no more Car Share! 🤦🏼♂️

The specials are next month :D
Dont worry the American version will have 13 seasons ;)
LMAO As an American..sad but true.
Hope not, American versions are never anything like what they copied.
John Berry can't wait for the celebrity cameo every episode and the canned laughter.
office us is good but nowhere near as good as office uk.
And an obnoxious laugh track
Noooooooooo! Bloody hell.
I cried so much at this and now they're ending it hopefully on a high you could tell there was a surprise in-store he wouldn't have ended it like that
So wanted them to get together!!
Me too, Batzz Von Noir
Batzz Von Noir I
I hop Peter kay will consider doing a season 3 so we can find out what happens next
If they don't get together in the next season finale... I'll... I'll... I don't know what I'll do, but I will do something
You'll have to wait and see!
What's that songs name at the first of this scene
Crash Test Dummies - Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm!
Thank you
So poignant .... We've all been there. 💔
If it's one thing, it's true to life. Well done Peter Kay, Sian Gibson and Paul Coleman.
This is like me with women I'm close to. I'm like the character John with women
Yup, same
Sorry about that pal
Oh yeah ..women ?not just the one ? you go dogging in your spare time by any chance ?😏
Change, before it's too late
Good show please come back to TV Peter kay will you do Peter kay car share again?
Peter Kay is a young Alf Roberts.
Previous episode..."Get the slow cooker on". It was a metaphor....only they didn`t get stuck in when nosh time arrived :(
Hope there another series
There needs to be more car share why did they leave it there
It doesn't end there. There's a one off special after this.
peter crying brakes my heart
How did this show end????????
It’s so sad as she left the car the radio played a song that he sent in for her and I was like noooooooooooo come back and hear the radio
I cried so much 😥😥😥
Every talk I ever tried to have with a guy
You're talking to the wrong guys
In series 2 they should make another one where they get back together again. There is more than this to this episode and it honestly made me cry ;(
Roan Fern It was very emotional
Just watched the last episode last night, Very Sad Ending, i nearly cried lol... but a Great Show.
Why was there only 4 Episodes when you usually get 6 in a Series, Plus i dont believe Peter kay when he says that was the last ever episode, We Definitely havent seen the last of Car Share, that im sure of :)
chris m I was a shame he only made four episodes for series 2. It's a shame
Kay is absolutely nuts for not continuing this series
Just like real life, doesn't always go the way you want it
Shame about the ending but still a great programme
JordMate1 It was certainly true to life in some aspects, as John said, life's not a fairytale!
It never has so far
I think that someone is gonna tell kayleigh about the radio announcement and she'll get with him but the worrying thing is at the end he said yeah I'm done does that mean he's given up on her?
Best thing since the office
David Sams It will certainly go down in history as classic side-splitting comedy
Best thing including the Office! IMO
Brexit Dave that’s not hard the office is shite
1000s times better than office. Couldn’t stand the bloke that was in it. NEVER laughed at him, not even once.
Sian Gibson wouldn't have to tell me twice! 😂
Never watched it when it was on, but they both sound like me. Real emotion and great acting , the woman I never met was a character! oh well, carry on.
I never watched it when it was on but I watched this episode, so would like it to be shown again.
Listen to the radio at the end?!
Heartbreaking
Peter Kay also said this is the last series
Calpolmes Unfortunately, you're right
I love Kayleigh!!!!!
I love this programme but didn't anyone want to jump into the tv and say ffsakes john she fancys ya get on with it lad lol
3:07 💔
Amazing series but this ending is the worst since the sopranos black screen!
rok-weiler Well, it was certainly a memorable ending!
Sopranos ending was genius
This all seems like a distant memory now, doesn’t it?! 👀
Is there gonna be a Christmas special??
Meg-Rose Murphy Unfortunately no. This is the end according to Peter Kay! 😫
I thought we were going to get a couple of Xmas specials with Kayleigh on the Christmas team... They should do a Kayleigh and John holiday driving across American, she asked him in the first series if he never dreamed of going away somewhere.
Liofa That would be a fantastic idea. I definitely think that a Christmas team special would be great.
he's right tho...why change what they have which is a beautiful friendship.
Rick wallace And in series one, a beautiful strong friendship it was! 👫
Because they have fell in love
Dont fall for it John! She's trying to emotionally blackmail you 😅
I Did too.....and I'm 62. ( didn't tell the wife though).............xx
New specials on tonight. Come on!
Yep, 10pm BBC One.(twitter.com/ForeverFMVideos)
Brilliant ending.
Ah she loves him
Nooooooooo! Say it isn't so!!!
No no no I can’t deal with this amount of sadness
‘Because I love you that’s why and it’s killing me that you don’t feel the same’ 💔
John said he’s done so I’m terrified for the finale
I really hope that they get together in the Finale but I don’t want it to be forced
hes so docile why you getting out fknl john hahaha bless
In some ways it's best they stay 'just friends'. It always goes pear-shaped in the end, anyway!
Nah, the imbalance will destroy the friendship anyway. Dammed if you do and dammed if you don't at that point.

Don't just let her walk out of your life!
Because it's the very last one it should of ended on a happy one. His fantasy should of been real!
DJA 67 It was a dramatic cliffhanger though!
Brave decision to go against the punters wishes..............it's not a US comedy after all :)
I never thought for a minute watching it on iPlayer weeks ago that it would be the last one. jimwantsaliens You're right there. Very moving.
It's coming back
It was a very brave move by Peter Kay. It would have been too easy to end on a happy note. This is what real life is - a series of disappointments.
It was a bold move, that's for sure!
The first series was six episodes, 30 minutes each. The second series was four episodes, 30 minutes each. Your average Christmas special is 60 mins. I don't know if there will ever be a Christmas Special per say, but I have a strong feeling that we haven't seen the last of John and Kayleigh yet!
Cmon John........ you like her and she likes you😢❤😢
They should've had John run after her and fall like he did in the postbox scene in series 1 🏃
I would've loved to have seen them get together but if it is the end it adds a bit more mystery to what happened next.
Emmett Byrne We will always wonder about the long-awaited Christmas team!
He didn't even get any road head from her ever...
Classic x
