Wow awesome road! Where's that? Just looking at changing to a Mutant myself. What exhaust system you running? Sounds quiet unless you're under load, when it sounds nice!
Thanks. Southwest Washington state for the road. This video the exhaust is stock but I did go to an Arrow pipe when I had still had the bike. Sounded amazing with or without a baffle in but super loud without though, too. I was really impressed with the Mutants and would definitely run them again on any street supermoto or touring type bike. They are supreme tires for their intended use.
@@nwmotog Sweet! I run a straight pipe and Akra slipon no baffle, and it's loud and snappy. I kinda want something deeper and more mellow. Why did you get rid of the SMCR? What did you replace it with? Would you consider the new SMT? I'm visiting SW WA next year but it will be in a massive RV sadly, not a bike haha.
@Samuel Arnold I didn't really wanna get rid of the smcr but i caught the offroad bug real bad and only have room for 1 bike so I sold it and bought a 500excf. I really like the idea of the SMT and always said if I blew up the 690 i'd attempt to 890 swap it, lol. I think the new SMT is unfortunately a very ugly bike, and I would need a very convincing test ride to consider owning one. Just my opinion though. I mean I think the gen 1 mt10's look awesome, and most people hate it lol. So my taste may be skewed. 🤷♂️
Really great. Every video after this on my channel is with these tires and i never had a complaint. I even think they saved me once with some surprise apex gravel. I just sold the bike few weeks ago but I put almost 3000 miles on them and they still looked really good at that point wear-wise too. I really think they should be the quintessential street supermoto tire for a good 99% of street riders, or even newer track riders. I think an experienced track rider would find them a little lacking at track pace on a track, but for the road I wouldn't want any other tire during any season. They are fantastic.
I had about 3k on them and ended up selling the bike. They were holding up good though. I saw my bike for sale again with 1000 more miles on it and the tires still looked good too. I really think the mutant should be considered the current quintessential street supermoto tire. The only place I see them get a little greasy is on a race track. I will definitely buy them again when I get another supermoto.
Easily on gravel. I don't really ever try backing it in on the street but I'm sure you could on track. But track is the one place I wouldn't really want these.
If you have any questions for clarification I'd be happy to answer. I know I'm not the best speaker, and my mic setup was less than ideal on this video.
@flattenedfrog I'd rate them fair. It's still a very sporty tire for the road but I did a lot of gravel road blazing on them and I was happy with them.

Hi-how do they handle in dry road conditions while riding aggressively? I’d be switching from Pirelli Rosso IV.

I have a 690smcr let me know next time you go to jones creek.
How are they holding up?

Nice video-is it possible to get slideways and drift the back tire on the mutants? If you can I’m sold!
Easily on gravel. I don't really ever try backing it in on the street but I'm sure you could on track. But track is the one place I wouldn't really want these.
Cayusse pass?
