I truly believe a big reason for his longevity is his happy disposition and optimistic attitude.
We can all use someone like him in this cynical world
True😊
And he exercises...a lot.
Yes!!
He used to be an acholic. So it wasn't always good inside
Nothing but love, admiration and respect for this man. Happy Birthday, Mr. VanDyke.
Yep
You better never bother with HIS ol' bamboo.
Going to the gym!
HELLO!
Repent and trust in Jesus. We all deserve Hell for our sins, such as lying lusting coveting and more. We can't save ourselves, but Jesus can save us. He died on the cross to save us for our sins and rose from the grave defeating death and Hell. You must put your faith in him only. He is the only way to Heaven. Repent and trust in Jesus.

Yeah, everybody deserves hell for posting ridiculous comments that are off subject. 🙄
It’s amazing, this man looks 98, has a physical body of 98, but I’ve never seen a 98-year-old that still speaks and carries himself like he’s 48. Most people at that age can’t even put 2 sentences together or remember who you are. Absolutely amazing.
Betty White was also sharp in the mind too. I took care of a priest that lived to be 101 years and 11 months old. He was born in 1898 and died in 2000! He's existed in the 1800's, 1900's, and saw the turn of the millennium! He took his daily walks up to two weeks before he died. He just stopped eating and died. It was just his time and he had perfect health right up to almost the day of death. It was amazing! We should all be so lucky! My son was born in 1999 and there is a picture of Fr. Joseph (the priest) sitting with my son. It's a pretty cool picture to have.
You're right . Though Rita Moreno ninety something still doing movies, jumps around, and her mind is still very sharp.
George Burns too!
My great nan managed to live until she was 98. She was remarkably sharp witted but unfortunately, in an old body like you say. She actually declined incredibly fast at the end but she lived a life that many desire and few achieve unless you go out there and live every minute. I can only hope I get to mid 70s let alone mid 90s!

What a great quote..."Don't be scared of dying, be more frightened that you haven't finished living"
Both are terrifying
Death is an illusion, the Human Body will stop functioning and decay but the soul and spirit transcends and continues to exist for eternity ❤
@@digitalsoldier3894 and we all ride off on a unicorn 🤣
@@Xane_Dragon 😂 admired how much that comment legitimately made me laugh and smile 😊 God Bless you always 💕❤
Alex Trebek said the same thing.
Amazing that he's 98 and still got it!
Incredible!
Yes indeed a true living legend.
He is the grandpa every kid deserved.
not that amazing people these days live to 99 and even older than 100 and still are sharp as tack
wowwee
For a 98 year old he looks very energetic.
He's incredible.
Take a look at the current generation. You can easily leave out the "for a 98 year old" Your statement sticks when you would say: "He looks very energetic" or even: "he is very energetic"

The only tribute recipient I've ever watched who smiled & laughed through the entire proceedings.
Awe. I had the honor of working with him on a national tour. He did a side fall every night and every night I would catch his chest and help carry him off stage while we all sang and danced. Each night when we got in the wings of the stage, he would thank me. Thank God I never dropped him.
Hahaha, great story and such a unique experience and precious memory! Thanks for sharing!
And Thank You for not dropping him! What a wonderful share. How amazing it must be to have had that experience with such a treasure.
yes thank you for not dropping him.
They had a woman catch him every night??
@@thewanderingamerican5412 She wrote that she helped carry him.
He deserves to make it to 100. I pray that he does and passes it with grace and I love him to bits x
A global treasure - how blessed to be alive at the same time as this man.
My nephew wrote him several years ago and sent him draws. To my nephew surprise he got a drawing from him signed and saying I love your drawings. He a awesome person
I would like to write him birthday wishes, what address did you send to?
Why he sending DVD draws???
This man has been a presence in my life from childhood in various shows and movies. I smiled the whole segment! Bravo!
Me too!!!!
Same here. Watched TDVDS in the early '60s (and still watching it!), loved Mary Poppins...life will not be the same without him. Hope he's here for several more birthdays.
One "movie" in particular from the late 1960s/early1970s may have even saved some lives. He appeared in a film (16 mm, projected in the classroom) shown to all California high school sophomores in a mandatory class appropriately called "State Requirements". In a brief interview, he talks of how wearing a seatbelt gives him feeling of being firmly connected to the car, and recounts an accident on a Los Angeles freeway (the ancient twisty 110 between downtown LA and Pasadena IIRC) which flipped his car and tore the body off the frame (this was in the days before unibody construction, when a car's body was just bolted to a truck-like frame). So he was sitting there afterward, belted into a seat still attached to a frame and four tires... but no car body around him.
Everyone here in the comments is wondering about how he's lived to such an old age. Well there's part of your answer.
@@marcmcreynolds2827Wow, a miracle. Our time is in GOD'S hands.
mine, too!😄
The bummer about getting older is there's no one left that you grew up with. My mother lived to her 90s and I saw this with her. You have to stay engaged with younger people if you get old.
I lost my Nana from my dad’s side last month at 93 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s!
It's true! My grandmother is 97. All 8 of her siblings are gone. All of her friends as well
@@ferrisulf As the youngest sibling of 3, this scares me! I just hope I'd find a way to not become too depressed and want it to end.
the motto should be: stay engaged with people of all kind of ages all your life. :)
You did it, you were able to comment a happy video about a happy man into a sad story. If that is your life, good luck with it :)
“Everyone I knew and worked with, there’s no one left.”
“How do you deal with that?”
“By making new friends.”
''Don't be afraid of dying - be more frightened that you have not finished living"
"That a good quote I said"
Brought tears to my eyes.
An American treasure!
Totally agree, and sadly, one of the small handful we have left.
Yes, and LEGEND as well!!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Quick! Some one get him and Dolly Parton to sing a duet!!! WE STILL CAN MAKE THIS HAPPEN!
Can't believe how much life he still has in his face. He looks 70. Love when she said "No pop culture, no slang and no politics. Timeless"
He gives me hope about old age. We should all be so lucky!
I can only smile when I watch this man. Going strong after all this years!!
He helped to make my childhood a happy one! ❤
he looks better than most 80 year olds
This guy is such a treasure to American pop culture of yore. A living legend. And he never fails to brighten my mood! Such a positive person. There is no one like him and probably never will be.
Such a great actor, dancer and singer. Happy Birthday Mr. VanDyke🎉
Always have loved him...Great example of Living your best life...Blessings to him!!!
He is clearly blessed and never has lost his youthful energy which I believe has kept him going all these years
Saw his 98th Birthday Special on CBS tonight, 2 hours well spent and I think he really enjoyed it!! So did I and I'm sure, millions of others who appreciate the gift of his talent, so graciously shared!
I just watched it on CBS's website. Wonderful!
Love this gentleman. So glad he is still happy and healthy. Happy Birthday and many more.
Happiness is the key to long life, no doubt.
I love this man
I hope he reaches to 100 years old and he is a sweet talented guy ❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏🥹🥹🥹
I love DVD when i was a kid, love him even more at my age 62.
I feel the same as you! I am same age as you. I play his TDVD Show fur the elderly people with Dementias at my workplace & they love it, laughing and remembering him & the great TV Show!
62? You're a young sprout!

Must be crazy to watch this man still here and sharp
One of the very few entertainers who never speaks ill of his co-stars. Maintained his professionalism, always on time and remembers his lines and marks, someone all actors should emulate.
98 Years old wow. I wonder if he still dances a little. There have been a few videos of him moving those dancing feet. Thank you for sharing this video with us.
I remember his cameo in Mary Poppins Returns
He did a brief dance that caught everyone unawares when he appeared on The Masked Singer last year.
@@solracer66 oh wow. Thank you. 98 with that much life and energy. My mother only slowed down a little before passing at 96 years of age. You know he was in a movie years ago. He was thief with Mickey Rooney and other actor. Everything in the museum would come to life at night. Thank you for the information.
A National Treasure. Protect him at all costs.🛡️⚔️
Love you, sir . Chitty Chitty Bang Bang will always remain my favorite. ❤
I have Dicks yearbook from when he was in high school. I could tell by the pictures of him inside that he would become a star. Seriously.
He’s a treasure! He has brought so much fun and laughter into our lives for over 60 years!
A good attitude will take one far. May Sarton, the novelist and powt, said “The only people who are afraid to die are those who haven’t lived their life”.
🐧🐧Does this man know how much he has been loved & respected? A treasure as many people have stated💞💞
Now he’s nominated for a Daytime Emmy award, probably one of the oldest people to be nominated. ❤️
*Edit:* Goodness gracious, he got it. Oldest person ever to win an Emmy of any category, Primetime and Daytime. What a class act.
he is amazing...done good for a boy born in a settlement down the road from me here in Missouri in 1925...
Still going strong, bless him ❤️
Wow to get to that age with health is such a blessing💖
Looking good for someone about to hit a century!

Happy birthday sir!❤🎉🎊
Never seen a more sprightly 98 year old man. Reminds me of my great grandpa Alvin. Sprightly till he died at 93.
I have watched and loved this man all of my life! He was born within a couple of years of both of my parents. (My mom just died at the age of 96.) God bless him for bringing light, laughter, and a joy for life into each of our lives!♥️

Love DVD! What a wonderful interview with great wisdom and life advice
After watching this segment, I'm feeling good and smiling big.
What a cool dude. Wish him many more years.
As someone from the UK I don’t care if his accent is appalling, he was a man in his element having fun and that childlike joy has carried with him into his 90s, such an inspirational figure of olden cinema!
I'm in my sixth decade of life and still watch your show on Amazon every night as I fall asleep.
You are a perfect gentleman and a bright bit of sunshine for a world full of self-induced misery.

98 great health, great hair and a wife 55 years younger, what more could a man ask for.
Actually, only 46 years younger. She was 40 when she married him at age 86.

Absolutely amazing! I remember Chitty Chitty Bang Bang as the second movie I had ever seen behind The Sound of Music. I am 61 now and I am so happy to see that he is still alive and living well!
I’ve seen the Sound of Music more times. Yet I prefer Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
"Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" will always be a classic, and "Hushabye Mountain" will always be one of the greatest songs ever written! 💘💖💝
Yes! Chitty chitty bang bang was the first movie I ever saw too, when I was about 5 or 6. Always remembered it, loved it!
Grew up with Mary Poppins and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, loved them.
He’s my hero
This guy is a good example to us all.
I'm trying to emulate him right now.
A genuinely kind and proper gentleman. Last of a gone generation. Raised by grandparents born in 1920 I live by their morals 🙂I hold doors for ladies and I know that can be frowned upon but I was raised that it was just good manners, I hope it doesn’t offend.
It is WILD how lucid and aware he is compared to so many, even at 80 years old, and to think he's 98 is just crazy.
I absolutely adore him! He is my childhood.
I know. It's like he is a family friend.
God Bless him...the fact that he can mentally erase the aging process is remarkable. He can teach us so much without even trying, just by watching him!
Lazy indeed!!
So much a positive part of my childhood in movies and TV shows. Happy birthday 🎉
Wow…just wow. Such an inspiration. Thank you for this man!!!
I've joyfully watched him since Mary Poppins was first released. What a treasure! ❤😊
When i was a nanny, we watched, played, sang & danced around the house dozens of times to Chitty Chitty Bang Bang ❗❗
He’s the best! James Bond!! Ha ha….Years ago…I was working production and walked him from his trailer to the sound stage, and he danced the whole way… and I knew I was in the presence of an energy spiritual field - and there are very few beautiful souls such as he, and it was my privilege to be in his orbit if only for a moment.
Wow…thank you for sharing that! I was thinking while watching this that he had such a special energy.
Thank you for using a metaphysical context, because that's what it's about. And how "lucky" for yours to have experienced his!
Im 43 years old, and I loved and still love the DVD show. Thanks for it all DVD.
He is so sharp and spry and still have that zany goofiness that he’s known for.God bless him.💯💯💯

I remember watching all his movies when I was a kid and now I show them to my granddaughter he will be missed when he's gone
He's a National Treasure. I was very honored to meet him briefly at the 2010 Siggraph Conference. He was extremely generous with his time and was gracious with all the people surrounding him.

The barbershop quartet singing was delightful. I’ve no doubt it helps to keep this great man going.

What a cool dude! The last one standing from the original show.❤
He was one of my favorite teachers of life since I was born and here is the best recipe of living long and better, if we care to have FAITH and obey our feeling.. we have to live hundred years more, yeah, a lot of work to do...if we care to understand God's decisions. He is such a great guy, the best Christmas gift for young generations, never feel sorry to be happy kids beyond age

He and Mary Tyler Moore brought me so much joy. How can I ever repay them!?
The most humble man in Hollywood. It didn’t just happen, he had loads of talent, to appear natural in front of the camera when there’s nothing natural about it. His energy comes from love. Love of life.

Very wise words from a very wise man
He looks amazing! Protect him at all costs!
Still awe inspiring after all these years!
The legend of all legends!
When I get my Mary Poppins DVD out I get teary eyed from the very opening. It was so great to be 10 years old when the film came out. It is considered Walt Disney's last big triumph. Our generation was blessed to have this great entertainer among others.
What an inspiration this man is.
A gift in this world. So glad to hear of his special coming up - nobody deserves it more.
He should run for president
this guy is incredible and a true Hollywood star.
His show is still my all-time favorite sitcom.
His thinking-out-loud, solo segments were strokes of comedy genius that broke "the fourth wall" and spoke honestly to us all!
I'm so Happy to see this Legend doing well. Easily one of my favourite people in the world. Always has that charisma and likeability. 🎉❤
I heard a radio interview with him here in Detroit and he said (don't quote me) " the longevity to life is dancing with my wife every day" I believe they had been married a number years, and are still married to this day! Kudos you two! Not a lot of Hollywood marriages last that long - can you still tap?
