Thanks. As I've mentioned in other places, I'm almost more fascinated by railroad construction than the trains themselves. Good example, the Abo Canyon project completed (and on RUclips.)
Well if the government won't invest in infrastructure willingly, I suppose this is one way to get them to do it unwillingly. While I don't typically approve of the use of tax payer dollars for corporate assets, I can't complain too much when it is put into key infrastructure assets that support the entire nation as a whole.
I thought this was the old, old, Armour, Swift and Burlington Bridge in Kansas City over the Missouri Bridge (a from-day-one vertical lift bridge in its own right, and very unusual with double deck, only lower one used, and that one lifted, and maybe fourth/fifth longest life span US).
in history, sometime ago, polish trains came across the trans alaska ice bridge to america-maybe that was their thinking?? sounds like bs to me- humor me on this........
1) At 5:43 Steve Millsap says, "Going Foreword"..... What does that even mean? Do we have the ability to go backward? 2) If high waters and flooding caused delays in the project, then why didn't you raise the height of the bridge? 3) 240p? Who even makes that low quality of a videos anymore? I guess they do have the ability to go backward.
Great stuff. Two of my favorite things. 1] drawbridges and 2] railroads!
Such an exciting time to witness the progress of the railroad through Illinois to Iowa via Gulfport, IL and Burlington, Iowa via this bridge..
It is not the only double tracked bridge. FT. Madison bridge is also double tracked.
Awesome video and very interesting.BNSF a Class act(two thumbs up).

Maadhawk it was the fed gov that made the mess. the rail road would have replaced it sooner or later on it's own dime

Huge amounts of river ice during Al Gorbal Warming?

Why is a ballast deck easier for maintenance?
