I saw them live in Paris two weeks ago, and let me tell you that she handles that 2 hour show without any problem, she definitely knows what she does with her voice :') Also, this band is just iconic, I love them so muchhh
I flew to Paris for the concert as well, loved every moment of the performance. Was lucky to see them in 2008 with Chester... Needless to say, this one hit different. It brings me immense joy to see them have so much fun :)
6:35 in regards to the scratching/screaming similarities, it's quite possible that Joe is scratching on a sample of her voice - this is a technique Linkin Park has used in the past
Linkin Park always uses original samples they create themselves giving the well known linkin park feel to all their songs. Hence why you won't ever have heard their samples prior to their tracks. I believe also, they only use the sample once then don't use them again but I'm not entirely sure on that account.
Yup -- I noticed on the second or third listen, you can hear exactly where the scratch is sampled from in the bridge because it goes straight from the scream into scratching! Back in the day Ioe was scratching Chester's voice, now he's using Emily's and it sounds every bit as good.

The cleans from Emily and the grit/clean screams… as a huge fan she deserves respect for the new direction. There is so much intention. You describe it so well. I’m really impressed. A lower clean vocal and lower scream and I’m beyond sold.
I loved her Broken screams and her voice since day one of her LP debut, it's pure talent and beautiful skill on how she does it, its pure anger, angst with a hint of apologetic love in her vocal delivery, And Mike raps are too good to go unnoticed with his amazing word play and delivery, the music is beyond amazing, LP is just want the Rock/metal genre needed so badly right now and they will be even bigger than before with this album of New Emotional and more Fun energy mixed in, this is will be the first LP album ill purchase in my lifetime, plus the artwork is beautiful.

People keep comparing this to One Step Closer, but the tone of it is so Points of Authority. And it’s so up to date, still. It could fit on The Hunting Party as easily as it could fit on Hybrid Theory.
Those pitch screams at the end with “caught in the middle” is what it’s all about. Chapter1: Chester- pain and sorrow Chapter2: Emily- all the rage. This is what music has been missing for the last few years.
The "screamy pants" were for Casualty. The one they debuted in Dallas and played monday in Bogota. But this one comes close as well. She's such a powerhouse, I love her!
I would love to be that one person to comment and say she's ruining her voice, but I can't because 1)she's been singing this way for at least 15 years or more, and 2)we already know she isn't ruining her voice because of your insightful analysis and knowledge (and that of other vocal coaches who have reacted to these videos) that tell us she's NOT, and more importantly, how she keeps from doing it. It was cool to see this analyzed by what seems to be a vocal coach & get his professional take on it. But here's the thing about Emily - she didn't need a lot of that to get her to the place she goes on these LP tracks.. ..It's literally just how she sings. In several recent interviews, she's talked about how LP's "Hybrid Theory" shaped how she wanted to sing at a very early age, & said that a lot of her work in "Dead Sara" was modeled after Chester & LP. It's as if she was "training" for this almost her whole life. She was made for this sh##, man. 🤘😎

HITC was the ultimate middle finger to the "Emily can't scream crowd". OEO showed oh by the way she can sing and we still got it on the downshift vibe. Then for good measure you get Casualty and this one that are just 90 to nothing old-school LP. JUST CRUSHING THE HATERS. DIG IT.
Chester is unreplaceable but Emily is an incredibly unique and astonishing choice for the continuity of Linkin Park. I'm glad the band took their time to move on, and the fact that they choose Emily shows how much respectful they are to Chester legacy.

This album is like a back to basics for LP. It still has elements of their later discography, but it leans more into their early days.
