I have a very small collection: Original White Star Line Gothic arch plate dated 1904, a piece of molding from the Grand Staircase from James Cameron's film, a postcard of Olympic, and the "leaving the ways" postcard of Britannic. But I am very proud of my little collection.
Personally, every one of my friends are non-Titanic friends. It’s not because I don’t want any, it’s because I can’t find anyone anywhere who is interested in history. So this honestly makes me jealous.
My collection is small. But I'm proud of it. It consists of my Titanic coal, a pool tile from Olympic, wood from Britannic's grand staircase, and a life jacket from the James Cameron film. I feel good that I have the all 3 Olympic class liners and the film represented in my collection. I'm sure I'll pick up more but I'm content for now. Also a number of books.
Very nice collection! I'm missing BRITANNIC. I have TITANIC coal pieces and an OLYMPIC dinner fork. Don't have any movie props, but it's not a biggie for me.
Just discovered your channel. I do hope you continue posting at some point. I really enjoy your casual, light-hearted, but still respectful approach to Titanic history!
I'm one of those people who are like: "I don't care if it's a replica and it's not the real deal, its meant to replicate what something was, so I would still want it for my collection."
In addition to the books, models, and pictures that are made in the TITANIC: Honor And Glory store 😉 - have you ever tried coin collecting? I've got 1911 and 1912 penny, nickel, dime, and quarter (STILL hunting for half dollar and silver dollar). Haven't got but a 1915 penny so far. Doesn't have to be actual relics from the ship, but maybe relics from the time period (?) for the collection? Of course, I'm just throwing that idea out there for you. 😉
I'm sorry this series ended. I know a lot about the Titanic, but there's always something new to learn. And sometimes we don't have your creativity to share in such a beautiful way.

It’s so weird having my biggest interest be the titanic, I’ve never met a single person interested. But I’ve always enjoyed sharing little titanic things with my friends
I just started my collection, I might go out to my book store and get some Titanic books soon to grow it. So far I only have a 1/1000 scale plastic model of Titanic.
I have a pretty awesome Titanic collection. It's small, but I'm proud of it. The centerpiece is a Titanic model. It has some inaccuracies, but overall it's really nice.
I am obsessed with the Ashwells System toilet Indicating bolts that were installed on the Olympic class WC doors, and a few years ago I managed to get my hands on one! Yes, it was probably not on any of the ships as they were probably popular back then in England, but its cool to think that the same types were installed on these great ships. An indicating bolt is a latch that when engaged, will indicate weather the bathroom is occupied, and the ceramic wheel states, "Vacant" when the latch is open and "Engaged" when closed. Full set with the glass window and solid brass. I also have a ceramic ceiling rose witch was leftover from the Nomadic Restoration and made its way onto "the Pursuers Locker" on ebay, but I got that almost 10 years ago now.
In regards to books and models: big yes. I love reading whenever I can and to me it's more then words on a page. I'm normally a railway person in general, but it's still true that I can't afford or fit 25 tons of Stroudley A1x in my bungalow's back garden.
Professor could you do a video on the food they ate, idk if that would be a fun video or not but I would like to take a in-depth tour of the food and maybe like the kitchen
My collection currently consists of a few books, a bunch of replica memorabilia in a "Titanic Collection" bundle released back in 1998, a Revell model kit, a metal poster of one of White Star's advertisements for the ship, some actual Titanic coal (which is awesome), and a full scale replica of the ship (along with the rest of the Olympic Class and other ships like Lusitania and Mauretania) in Minecraft. Which reminds me, go watch Richlarouse's Minecraft ship tutorials on RUclips and you can build your own full scale ocean liner fleet.
I think I started collecting around 13/14, I remember getting £60 for my birthday ($110) & spent most of that on books. Like proper adult books, not just the kids pop up Titanic book I owned or the making of the film I got as a kid from a thrift store. I do have a large collection (if anyone is interested in seeing most of it, there's a video on my channel - not a plug, just cause I enjoy watching videos of other people's Titanic collection) I did downsize about 3 years ago, I had over 100 books and now I'm down to maybe 50 but it's varied, I have some Olympic pieces, some big piece fragments, coal, deckchair wood & memorial items from 1912. Then I have a lot of '97 film memorabilia as I was 5 when the film came out (I saw it a few years later) but it got me into Titanic and I love it, and then I have odds and ends, a model of the ship, music boxes, snowglobes, storage boxes, a replica hat of an officer, mugs, two authentic cabinet photos of passengers from Titanic. I used to buy everything with Titanic on it but I try to be more selective though if I had to choose choose, it would memorial items. I have a small collection building of that.
If you are interested in buying ocean liner memorabilia, here are some good websites to start from: 1. Luxurylinerrow.com - This website has a lot of expensive artifacts from a lot of very famous shipping lines and ships so this is for a more advanced collector. 2. Titanicitems.com - This website sells different kinds of wood and felt recovered from the Titanic wreck site, though they are very expensive, i'd definitely look into buying them. 3. Whitestarlines.co.uk - Of the list here, this one is definitely the best, they have artifacts from various different shipping lines and sell A LOT of White Star artifacts. 4. Wslmf.org - This is one of the smaller, lesser known websites and the have a small collection of artifacts that they are selling most notably a small fragment of the big piece.(Like Matt talked about in the video) 5. Nautiques.net - This website has a moderately sized store for Ocean liner stuff. 6. Grandlinerlounge.com - This website mostly sells Shipping line related papers and postcards. 7. Henry-Aldridge.co.uk - Most who have bought artifacts for a MAJOR collection have bought it from Henry & Aldridge Co, they host huge Titanic and Ocean liner auctions twice a year. (They sold Wallace Hartley's violin for 1.6 Million a few years back) There is of course ebay but that website is filled with Titanic sh*t so you either have to check everyday and sort by new or use a faster method for searching like Zeppy.io or Picclick.
I also like the occasional old documentary. Finding a rare clean copy of The Only Way to Cross filmed on the SS Norway in 1981 was special. The entire four part video is uploaded to my channel in case anyone here is interested.
I remember one of the dealers' tables at the '87 T.H.S. convention offering a lot of postcards for sale. The one in particular I recall, was a TITANIC post-disaster postcard surrounded by black material (velvet, perhaps?). He was asking $125. for it. Needless to say, I didn't buy it. $125. was something I in NO way had. I DID buy from another dealer the "NORMANDIE" and "QUEEN MARY" editions of "Ocean Liners Of The Past" for $25. each. Still have them today (later on added LUSITANIA And MAURETANIA, AQUITANIA and MUCH later, EMPRESS OF BRITAIN (that same dealer had the "EMPRESS" one at the time, but he was asking a LOT more - $75. if I remember. And I wasn't going to pay $75 for a book on a ship I knew next to nothing about at the time).
as of right now my collection consists of a few books about the Titanic including a 108 year old copy of a book about the Titanic and other maritime incidents, an 1927 RMS Olympic post card, a large puzzle of the white star line Titanic promotional poster, a 3d puzzle of the Titanic, original Titanic 1997 VHS Box, a couple of old ballast bottles that would have been used in old schooners, and a handmade ceramic model of the Titanic's wreck that I made.
Anyone else want one of those candelabras? Also: Matt, you said you collect the pieces of wood from various liners. What all ships are your collection of pieces from?
A tiny piece of Celtic, some molding from Adriatic, and decking from one of the random Cunarders (very small, was a gift.) But I do stick with Olympic.
@@TitanicUniversity Neat! My great-grandmother sailed in Celtic, in 1911 if I recall correctly. We have a period booklet that she got onboard from the White Star Line about the ship. It mentions Olympic and Titanic (building).
Advice for anyone wanting a model of the Titanic: Don't break the bank and attempt a large model. Start off small scale and work your way to a larger model. Heck, if you don't want to deal with models, Histobrick has a LEGO Titanic model that you can build with LEGOs, Cobi has a few Titanic models, but the two I recommend are the 1:300th scale and the Executive edition since they are mostly accurate, and LEGO recently released the 1:200th scale of the RMS Titanic that separates into three parts so that way you can look inside the interior. Or, if you want a model with the ship assembled, Titanic Honor and Glory currently has some 3D printed models, they are flat gray at the moment, but you can paint them if you want to
I also wanted to start a Titanic collection. Unfortunately, there's only one Titanic I know of, and that already belongs to someone who won't give it away.
I'm content with a purposeful selection of books and two smallish models of the ship and her era. I have a select collection of ocean liner books that, with few exceptions, are mostly older as they contained more contemporary information and photos. I also have small bits of Titanic coal that I cherish and will be buried with. The only original collection of artifacts I keep up with with the exception of a few items are original liner postcards. Post cards are usually the most accessible and affordable means to connect directly with the ocean liner age. And that's where it ends I'm a historian and an artist not a 'fan' or enthusiast. Titanic sparked my interest in both of those professions and I take that era seriously and with respect. I will never board some kind of insulting 'Titanic 'll'. For me, collecting is preserving not owning, but that's just me.
I collect coins on the side, and as you may have guess, I have a wonderful collection of 1911 & 1912 US money (British money is little harder for me to get). Whether or not they were in Molly Brown's coin purse, I don't know. Still it's fun to see some of the currency that MIGHT HAVE been used on the OLYMPIC during her years of service.
Hello honor and glory I have a question about your 15th lesson. How do you tell if you are getting an original artifact? If you are, for example, wanting to buy an Olympic deck plan off eBay, how do you tell if it is original and authentic? Are there any sites where they are required to sell authentic stuff? I wanted to start a white star collection and I was wondering about this. I am also a huge fan and thank you for letting the white star line live on! Thanks! :)
Among the Titanic-related things I've collected are Titanic films, which vary in quality. I have the DVDs of the 1943 Titanic film, the 1953 Titanic film, A Night to Remember, and a very poorly-edited cut of S.O.S. Titanic.
Makes me wonder, too. This is the last day of the month, and in their last post about Molly Brown under the Community tab they mentioned they would be back in August. What gives now??
When it comes to my collection I got 3 magazines 8 novels ( the eighth book is Paul Galico's Poseidon Adventure novel ) A key chain my English teacher gave me Mr Cameron's movie And a Revell model that sadly got damaged Edit: forgot to mention I also have a shirt that my Great Aunt got me from the museum from Belfast
You forgot about the Brittanic, Titanic's sister ship that sank after hitting an under water mine. She was converted to a hospital ship in World World 1 and never made it to passenger service
I plan to build a 16 ships that have similar profile to the titanic but longer, called the Jamesic class that would be my Titanic collection when those are built
2:27 Your book collection looks very much like mine: I have a LOT of the same books. But YOURS is definitely superior. There are some I see that I don't possess. Might take a look on Amazon (though at this time I can't afford them).
@TITANIC DIVERSITY I HAVE A QUESTION I'VE BEEN WANTING TO ASK THIS FOR A VERY LONG TIME. CAN I BUILD A REPLICA OF THE AFT GRANDSTAICASE OR IS IT COPYRIGHTED OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT? AND IF YES, WHERE WOULD I GET THE INTERIOR, ARCHITECTURAL AND ENGINEERING PLANS FOR IT?! PLEASE HELP!!!!!
Hello! First of all, awesome videos man! congrats on this great work, can you please make a video on what was the deal with the SS California, I've never got that subject clarified on what happened that they did not helped on the disaster, thanks!
Question: Are there any copyright issues regarding the reproduction of any items of the Titanic, in other words, creating a replica for sale whether it be a post card, poster, piece of crockery, deck plans or even a statue, clock or even a piece of furniture or fixture. I am sure there are many fans who would love to own a replica item to decorate or furnish their home but just do not have the skill, craftsmanship or time to produce such an item themselves but would be willing to purchase a high quality replica. Obviously it would be a breach of copyright if one was to produce replica's of Star Wars memorabilia but wondered whether this is the case with the Titanic or any White Star item. Anyone know the answer??
I collect books, but now that there is a lot of misinformation out there I tend to stick to the books by certain historians! I made a video recommending books to read for people to get a basic understanding. I am sleeping on a Titanic blanket set right now!
If I was extremely wealthy. I would have a clone copy of RMS BRITANNIC II built as my floating home. With live on board guest 280 to 350. Also great crew members for my ship.
Anyone see the Leo Marriot book in the video? When I was six, my school library had that book on display. I asked my teacher what it was about, and she said, “It’s about the Titanic. It hit an iceberg and sank.” I immediately wanted to know more, so I had to take a look through it.
I know this is the wrong place to ask honestly, and please forgive me but noone else has ever answered, and you guys would know more about this stuff, how are some of her beautiful windows still inttact at that pressure? How are the bottles not broken?
My personal goal is to collect every Titanic documentary on DVD/Blu ray. But only the ones that are worth watching, ones I have never seen before, and ones that aren't laughably bad at how wrong they are *cough* Titanic: The Shocking Truth *cough* *cough* Why They Sank Titanic *cough*
After watching your Titanic final moments video, seeing the smokestacks collapse has me asking, what causes them to collapse? especially the first one?
It has to do with pressure. As they are submerged, the water pressure pushes inwards into the air inside, causing to them to give in and collapse. Remember, that the funnels aren't built to be able to handle such a situation, only sitting on top of a steady ship. Also, the only real thing keeping them secure is the wires connected close to the top of the tunnel to the boat deck. Even they could not handle the stress caused by the pressure difference.
Does anyone else have a copy of Susanne Stormer's 'Goodbye, Good Luck: Biography of William McMaster Murdoch'? It is numbered and signed and was wondering if it's worth anything? I'm not planning on selling but I'm just curious.
Probably. Almost DEFINITELY. The Great Depression was a major factor, but take it out of the equation and it likely STILL most certainly happens. She MIGHT have been sold off (there were strong rumors at the time of her withdrawal that the Italians wanted to purchase her), but she WAS 24 years old at the time, and her age was showing to an extent. Ships aren't designed to have an unlimited lifespan, and she was developing structural problems that would have been very expensive to fix. Also, her passenger revenue had fallen to very low numbers, as in not much over 100 passengers at the worst of times. She just was far too uneconomical to keep in service at this point. And there was none of the TITANIC nostalgia then that we see in modern times; after the mourning period, people wanted to put the TITANIC as far out of their minds as possible. Plus there had been a devastating war 2 years after her loss, with tragedy and horror that made TITANIC look like a small unfortunate incident by comparison. Add to that a worldwide depression with a giant chunk of the population out of work and struggling to feed and house their families; the TITANIC, or a sister ship nearly identical to her, meant nothing to people then. Nobody was going to pay large sums to bring her up to "TITANIC tribute vessel" status. So Cunard-White Star did what they did with most of the 'old' White Star ships; they sold her, and she went to the breakers' yard. Yes, it's a shame, and in hindsight, would have been great to have actually happened, but, considering the times when critical decisions about her future were made, this was SIMPLY NOT going to in any way happen.
Todd Kurzbard Maybe not in service, but as a floating hotel most likely. There were plans to make Olympic one but they couldn’t secure the necessary funds, most likely since they were in the middle of a depression.
I would love to have some Titanic Friends to talk hours and hours about she, but in spanish. Actually, I can hardly write this without a brain stroke feeling.
Let’s be honest a scale model of the titanic is the centrepiece of most collections, including mine.

I just bought my first titanic model kit. I plan on building it soon... but I found out that there’s a small defect and it really bugs me

I also have small bits of Titanic coal that I cherish and will be buried with. The only original collection of artifacts I keep up with with the exception of a few items are original liner postcards. Post cards are usually the most accessible and affordable means to connect directly with the ocean liner age. And that's where it ends
I'm a historian and an artist not a 'fan' or enthusiast.
Hello honor and glory
I have a question about your 15th lesson.
Thanks! :)
We want a new video!!!
Among the Titanic-related things I've collected are Titanic films, which vary in quality. I have the DVDs of the 1943 Titanic film, the 1953 Titanic film, A Night to Remember, and a very poorly-edited cut of S.O.S. Titanic.
i bought the britannic. the ultimate collectors item
I have to ask: what did the ship’s whistle sound like? Is there any information on that?
Well I guess there are no more installments of TU :( .
Makes me wonder, too. This is the last day of the month, and in their last post about Molly Brown under the Community tab they mentioned they would be back in August. What gives now??
The best Titanic book is a book called "The Titanic Experience" by Beau Rittenberg. The book includes memorabilia inside it, and is an amazing read
And I also have Cunard Line pillow cases! They are fake but they look nice!
I actually do own an actual piece of coal from the wreck. Got for my 16th birthday.
When it comes to my collection I got
3 magazines
8 novels ( the eighth book is Paul Galico's Poseidon Adventure novel )
A key chain my English teacher gave me
Mr Cameron's movie
And a Revell model that sadly got damaged
Edit: forgot to mention I also have a shirt that my Great Aunt got me from the museum from Belfast
You forgot about the Brittanic, Titanic's sister ship that sank after hitting an under water mine. She was converted to a hospital ship in World World 1 and never made it to passenger service
David... David... David... DAVID!!!!
I plan to build a 16 ships that have similar profile to the titanic but longer, called the Jamesic class that would be my Titanic collection when those are built
ISN'T THERE GOING TO BE ANYTHING FOR THE ANNIVERSARY OF THE DISCOVERY (SEPTEMBER 1ST 1985) ?! 😮 What has happened?!
:(
fleur de lis was gonna be a mousepad for me......but it went out of stock
2:27 Your book collection looks very much like mine: I have a LOT of the same books.
But YOURS is definitely superior. There are some I see that I don't possess. Might take a look on Amazon (though at this time I can't afford them).
I recommend selling models for RMS Majestic ex Bismark. She's my favorite ocean liner!
Well, I was certainly born too late. Also, I want a Carpathia collection.
Awesome video!!
I want one of those candelabra so bad! 😍
Hello! First of all, awesome videos man! congrats on this great work, can you please make a video on what was the deal with the SS California, I've never got that subject clarified on what happened that they did not helped on the disaster, thanks!
Part 2: Explaining a Titanic collection to normal people
Question: Are there any copyright issues regarding the reproduction of any items of the Titanic, in other words, creating a replica for sale whether it be a post card, poster, piece of crockery, deck plans or even a statue, clock or even a piece of furniture or fixture.
I have 2 Titanic models, a mark iv Tank and a Fokker dr1 model and tgats it so far
Y havens u made lesson 16?
Amazing info thank you.
So early! 🤗 Love this channel ❤️
I know this is the wrong place to ask honestly, and please forgive me but noone else has ever answered, and you guys would know more about this stuff, how are some of her beautiful windows still inttact at that pressure? How are the bottles not broken?
When they needed him most, he vanished.
Months since last TU: 2 months
My personal goal is to collect every Titanic documentary on DVD/Blu ray. But only the ones that are worth watching, ones I have never seen before, and ones that aren't laughably bad at how wrong they are *cough* Titanic: The Shocking Truth *cough* *cough* Why They Sank Titanic *cough*
After watching your Titanic final moments video, seeing the smokestacks collapse has me asking, what causes them to collapse? especially the first one?
Agree
It has to do with pressure. As they are submerged, the water pressure pushes inwards into the air inside, causing to them to give in and collapse. Remember, that the funnels aren't built to be able to handle such a situation, only sitting on top of a steady ship. Also, the only real thing keeping them secure is the wires connected close to the top of the tunnel to the boat deck. Even they could not handle the stress caused by the pressure difference.
Yeah I have a great titanic collection.... it’s called the information I have on titanic...
Im prganicing some cultural days online for abril, and im looking for speakers.
Are there actually any Titanic artifacts on the market right now? I’m only 14 but i’m trying to get some money together to buy an Olympic artifact:)
Does anyone else have a copy of Susanne Stormer's 'Goodbye, Good Luck: Biography of William McMaster Murdoch'? It is numbered and signed and was wondering if it's worth anything? I'm not planning on selling but I'm just curious.
Where can you get a chip of Titanic hull?
Any thoughts on those “authentic piece of coal” things offered, not only on eBay, but in Titanic Artifact Museum stores?
David!
Where can I find the Cunard Line flag for my bike pole???????
I want a White Star Line flag, so I can put it on the bike during TITANIC week! 🔖
*I wonder if the Olympic would have been scraped with it wasn't during the great depression*
There were plans to make Olympic one but they couldn’t secure the necessary funds, most likely since they were in the middle of a depression.
the only collection I care for is knowledge
I respect that. :)
when are you going to start selling the candelabras because i desperately want oneeee
Does anyone know what happened to Matt? Long vacation or simply busy with THG?
Probably both
DAVID!

I never seen that one before! Now I can't UNSEE it!
*cries in college debt*
Does anyone if passengers were allowed to get cargo out of the cargo hold if they needed it?
most likely not. it WAS crew only, after all!
@@DerpyPossum no but could the crew get something for you
@@Jacob1986 i wouldn’t think they would, at least not that easily. don’t know for sure, tho.

Bem q poderia ter legendas em português né
So, you have over 100 year old wood?
I would love to have some Titanic Friends to talk hours and hours about she, but in spanish. Actually, I can hardly write this without a brain stroke feeling.
