I gave up roll hunting Kennedys because I was not finding anything. The only key date Kennedys I have are in sets and are not graded.

  •  4 месяца назад

The issue is selling it if you needed, coin dealers normally won't buy 40% most of the time and if they do they only buy it around melt prices or lower NOT SPOT. Having some 40% might be good for bartering if SHTF but as in terms as bullion no. SPOT is the price of .999 silver where MELT is the price you will get for scrap silver. Scrap\Melt is lower because coins are not .999, they are 90% or less. It is great to diversify your stack and everyone should have some but not really for stacking. Slabbed and graded coins are not a good preservation of wealth.

Thanks Wolvie. I have stacked several tubes of the Kennedy 40% issues. Still pretty cheap. There were also 40% silver Kennedy Halves from 1976, available only in the Mint and Proof sets. I just picked up a couple of them. There may be some more interest in them as the 2026 anniversary (250 years for USA) is fast approaching.

Great point about 2026 being the 250yr since 1776. I actually got a couple sets last week, just happened to see them and I remember the Bicentennial. The sets are very cheap, they made tons of them. Not worth much, but fun to have.

I've not been able to find a 1970, but I'm still looking.
If you put up a spread sheet up, it might be easier to retain all those mintage and condition numbers!

The 1970 Kennedy half dollar was only in coin sets as far as i know. I live in Switzerland and i don't have the 70. Almost Impossible to find where i live.

Did I say they were? They are a Key Date among the 40 percenters and very tough get get in a high grades. We can have a difference in opinions but hard to change the facts in the stats.. Thanks JRW
